Dave struggled with booze, at one point, but quit, before he made it big. But, he kept his 'edge'.

Hunter Thompson's writing turned to shit and he never got it back because of it either! List's turn into a list of drugs you have to take everyday to just "Feel O.K.". Everyone I've seen attempting to live their lives like him, aspiring writers, English undergrads with a full ride and a close friend or either dead, or take so many drugs daily it would kill a lesser user while it only makes them "Feel O.K.". Not feel "normal" which you hear from opioid/opiate addicts but "JUST OK". Their brains are re-wired so bad quiting 3-5 of these substances cold turkey maybe lowering the dosage daily would kill them. The few left alive are constantly in pain and talks and attempts of suicide were old a decade ago. Now on my bi-yearly chats with them it's a matter of when , not if they will die or end it. Take that list and think if your passing the part of Hunter's legacy down to another generation he would want. That list could be fake since he was a natural writer and all the stories I've read he didn't write were of third maybe second hand accounts of Hunter telling story's or nobody seeing the incident. Pass down he's writing and realize you don't need drugs to reach that level.

Ghiman the guy I was born in the mid 80s (don’t wanna give away my age because I feel old as balls as it is). I occasionally smoke weed but really hate it. I live in Canada where it’s legal coast to coast and have bought both legal and underground high quality weed within the last few months and I still hate the high of marijuana. It personally isn’t for me. I hate the feeling. When I was a kid in college sure it was awesome but as an adult it isn’t my cup of tea but god bless and I don’t hate on people that do. I smoked a lot in my early 20s when I had the luxury of not having responsibility. Getting High by before 12pm and staying high all day when I have a job and life to live isn’t a luxury I have. Thank god for quarantine because it’s the only time in a decade I could start experiencing again. But it’s still not something I enjoy. As a 30 something year old a hang over is way easier and more manageable than a wake and bake for me

Of those three drugs you mentioned, the effects of being high on weed are the most debilitating. Coke is just "industrial strength coffee that also happens to make you feel euphoric," and dope is only debilitating to an experienced user if he DOESN'T have any. I'm assuming sane-sized dosage here...

Cops are constantly posting pictures and videos of heroin addicts passed out in their vehicles with babies in the backseat. Never seen anyone passed out in public from cannabis. Habitual users of marijuana build up a tolerance to the effects, unless their constantly doing higher and higher concentrations, they'll plateau and get a very mild effect. I'll agree coke is probably the one that can be the least debilitating but only because its effects only last a short time. If you never smoke weed or do it once a month, the effect can be enough to earn you a well deserved DUI, but that also depends on how much you take in and its concentration. I suppose if your 'heroin' use is generalized as just taking extra vicodin or percocet, you could get by and not pass out, but if you're shooting black tar heroin you are zonked out, there is no escaping that.
