@@IEEteammateMATT1 Vitamin C and glucose molecules are extremely similar (competing for the same uptake within the body) and since the body cannot derive energy from Vitamin C it will always prioritize glucose. Liver is a much better source of Vitamin C than any fruit or vegetable.
I have finally lost all the weight I have gained since college, thanks to you! I am taking this list to the grocery this morning. Thanks so much! You have helped me more than any doctor I have actually seen!
BRAVO to you. What I've learned about weight control is that it has little to do with 'counting calories' and EVERYTHING to do with WHAT You Eat. Cheers, Stay Well : )
I cannot thank you enough Dr. Berg, by far you have the best content on RU-vid, I started watching your videos almost three months ago and started applying your advice about 50 days ago, I’ve lost 10.8 lb so far and I feel very good, healthy and energetic. I wish I can thank you in person one day, you’ve literally transformed our lives, my wife and I. Thank you sir for being the most awesome doctor I’ve had the privilege to follow 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 We live in Saudi Arabia by the way, your videos have become a routine in our lives. We tried many diets in the past, but your approach on intermittent fasting and having a balanced life is what really made us finally succeed in our goal, we feel that we finally understand how our bodies work, thank you for taking the time to read this, have a nice day sir.
I bought 12 tins of those Icelandic Cod livers from Amazon on the basis that they can't be too nasty and even if they were I could hold my nose and treat them as medicine. But I was so pleased when I tried a tin on some of your toasted Keto bread. They are lovely. Not fishy (not that there's anything wrong with fishy) and not strong in any way. I would say they have a very enjoyable. delicate taste and so does of course the oil that they come in which is great on the bread. I don'y think anyone could dislike them because there's simply nothing to dislike. When these eleven are gone, I will buy another 12 without a second thought. So thanks for introducing me to something new, apparantly very healthy and really very enjoyable. Every day is a school day.
Thanks dr berg i actually lost 8 kg in 1 month's time listening to you with your videos.not only that i lost my fatty liver and my doctor was so shocked and ask me how i did it😁😉.i showed her with my ultrasound and fibroscan results😆 she was asking me maybe she will advice her other patients😁
I sprinkle a bit of sea kelp (in powder form) on boiled eggs mixed with a bit of pepper. Its seaweed smell mixes nicely with pepper and spices. Also good because it contains iodine (for thyroid)
Started fasting in 2018 pre my little boy being born and after 2019.. it definately became harder. I say harder, but life and its daily requirements meant I did not put myself first and keep control of my weight. I went from 76kg (not heavy I know) to 92kg.... as of yesterday I am down to 85kg :). This is done over 4 weeks only. I have only worked out 4 times in that time. 4 x 45 minute sessions. The age old saying, the body you want starts in the kitchen. For me its not about the body, its about the feeling I get when i feel healthy. Super chuffed I have restarted this process! Dr Berg, I shall put you forward for an MBE :). I just need to speak to the queen first!
Man you're absolutely brilliant, you're open, make things easily understandable to us, and letting us all know about our own bodies and how we may live a long and healthy life, after keeping up with you for a long time I am still in shock at the state of most of the worlds diet including my own, they way we are slowly killing ourselves with all the crap ;we eat, i dint even know there were anti nutrients rich foods; and lack of nutrients and other essentials is crazy. Thanks Dr Berg.
Dr Eric - This is well timed - Today is food shopping day - so I shall be re-watching this video and making my list... Thanks for the time and effort you obviously put into this for our benefit...
I came back to report that I am now 158 lbs as opposed to 182 lbs in 4 months. IF plus Keto is the way to go. At first I thought it was just a fad but it really worked.
Dr.Eric Berg I am forever grateful to YOU for the infinite blessings you brought into my when i have listened to and implemented the suggestions & knowledge i acquired from wattching your videos. It is a commitment & an ardous path to follow but well worth it. I thaank you and feel grateful to have found you here in youtube. BLESS YOU!!!
Thanks Dr. Berg. I have started adding some chopped up beef liver to grass-fed hamburger that is finally available at one store here in the Philippines, and I can handle the taste that way.
Good idea. My kid won't even be in the house for 3days (as she says) if/when I make it. I make it with the caramelized onions, so that's what she's really smelling. I might sneak some in a burger one day. 🙂
Great info. I believe both plant food and animal foods are both important. Some cant eat plants and some cant eat meat. Enjoyed the breakdown so people of whatever way of eating can use what applies to them. Thanks Dr. Berg.
Yeah, plant food was never my favorite. I'm a animal lover, would've loved to go vegan, but never could. Besides, plants feel too, so if I think about it I get torn about eating them too. I always thought I might be part American Indian because I always thanked the plants, animals, trees, for giving me their fruits or their lives. Though, I can't see the animal alive prior or with identifying parts. Like I can't eat cut up chicken after seeing my chickens outside, & could never kill my own animals. The thought of naming a family member, treating it like family, loving it, then killing it makes me sick. I don't know how ppl equate treating animals humanely, & as a family member, then killing it. Whatever, I can't.
I'm really trying hard to break my fast food junk food addiction and this video is so informative and helpful. It creates a good starting point of how to build a nutrient rich diet.
I was on Keto in 2019 for 10 months and lost 50 lbs. Unfortunately I was unable to sustain it because it is a very hard diet to keep going with a young family. Meal prep took up a lot of the time also but there were definite benefits from Keto. I'd like to get back into it.
Great video I follow this plan but I think avocado deserves a special mention as it is high in healthy fats and potassium. I also think lemon is important as a healthy fruit and there are other veggies that weren’t mentioned such as asparagus, olives, cucumber, and celery. Finally yogurt or kefir, butter, and cheese are good if from grass fed sources.
I’ve lost 98 pounds in six months and all I did was stop eating fast food and chips and I drink a ton of water and exercise and I left bad foods alone.
Thanks, I think I'm doing okay now after watching some videos. Not worried about a specific diet, just being healthy. 🙏 Breakfast: Yogurt + variety of nuts + oatmeal Lunch: Variety Beans + home eggs + fruit + salad Dinner: Veggies, Beans, peanut butter Extra: Once or Twice a week for dinner I'll have a small steak from a farmer friend. Drink: mostly water, 1 black coffee. 1 or 2 sugarless black teas a week. Nuts are pistachio, walnut, almond, and sometimes cashews. Not as boring as it sounds, and I feel way better (lighter and energetic).
I just started watching your videos and I'm learning a lot of valuable information. I haven't seen all of your videos but I do think that it's possible that you've missed talking about a very important food category. This category actually contains some superfoods. Spices. Anyone on a diet of any sort needs to max flavors. Cloves are a superfood. Holiday season is coming up when cloves can be used in abundance. I would like it if you'd do a video or two on SPICES and HOLIDAY COOKING. Thanks.
Dear dr berg, you hv completely changed my life and life of those around me.i hv a request-could you do a keto video for those who don’t want to lose weight at all,can they go a lil loose on Carbs,etc..plz..
Hi! Feel free to watch this Dr. Berg's video as you may find it useful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h4yPJCHPfzs.html&t Dr. Berg's Support Team
I started keto+intermittent diet 3 days ago. I don’t have bowel movement. Since my job, I cannot make it 12-6 window. Can I eat like 8-1 window? Since other people in the family are not believing keto and intermittent diet. It makes me very difficult to follow the time of eating. I have looked through all these positive comments and they encourage me to continue to try. I really to I can keep these healthy diet.
Doc I love ya, your knowledge has helped me in so many ways to get my health back ,I refused keto but gave in finally I lost 20lbs and like hiting a wall my losing was over ,then I discovered carb cycling and it is working for me plus I'm getting my much needed carbs
Loving the Amazing benefits Organ Meats & Eggs . Whats for lunch? Liver & Eggs! With Rib Eye steak for Dinner! This simple diet has helped with my Ulcerative colitis / Auto Immune issues. Thank you Dr. Berg!
Great and caring man Dr. Berg. I thank my brother who shared your video on apple cider vinegar. I knew about Keto back in 2015 but did not trust the information due to my previous diet failures until I saw your video. You communicate with truth, passion, knowledge and care I was sold. Plus you have a sense of humor and fun to watch. From April 2020 unti now lost 30 lbs and my best lifestyle. Doing 18 hours intermittent fasting just last Monday started 20 hours fasting.
I switched to eating, let's say 99% Carnivore since August, where I add 1 mid size potato, a little broccoli and a slice of pineapple to all of my "with garlic, ginger and thyme spiced up" meals.. I eat all types of beef, lamb, chicken, fish and organs.. + I get good amounts of sunshine during the day.. That's all.. Feeling positive and light all the time.. Life is wonderful when you keep it simple.. And all the info you provide is a happy bonus.. Many many thanks doc... Cheers!
I always appreciate your videos. I'm guessing that you don't get all your nutrients from food. Would you do a video on the vitamins and supplements you take?
I took his quiz to learn that I'm severely depleted malnourished and basically starving. he has saved my life. I've grieved for my husband since he died 12 years ago.
K2 is always Mcg not Mg. Dr. Berg recommendations for K2 Mk7 version and D3 ratio is !0,000ius of D3 plus 100mcgs of K2 Mk7 Version. Hope this helps. S.B.
Hello Dr. Berg! I have two questions about oils. Question 1: Does high quality Walnut oil and Pine oil healthy in comparison to EVOO? Question 2: is it true that cooking with combination of animal fats (like butter) and non-animal fats (olive oil, walnut oil etc) is a bad idea? My dad told me that meat and eggs should be cooked on animal fat and veggies on veg oils. Is it true or he is wrong? P.S. is it true that trans fat is created when you cook at high temperature with combination of animal and non animal fats? That is his point
I will let Dr Berg answer this but wanted to chime in. When we think of animal fats we have to remember that it also contains polyunsaturated fats omega6 and omega3. Animal fats are not 100% saturated fat. When these pufas are hydrogenated through refinement and overcooking it can rearrange some of the molecular shape into an abnormal "trans" shape. So even when refined pufas that we buy in a bottle can say "no trans fats" it doesn't really mean anything. By law if the content is .4 and below then can round it down to zero. Mixing animal fats with cold pressed unrefined pufa makes no difference in my opinion. It really depends on the cooking method.
JYAN2852 thanks for your reply. From practical point of view my question is: is there any difference between cooking eggs on olive oil vs butter vs combination of both. Of course we are interested in a long term affect, when we cook same meal on daily basis. My dad is good at physics and chemistry, but physiology and biochemistry is not his thing. His theory based on process of creating trans fat in food industry for low quality products, so he might be wrong when he projecting it on cooking. That’s why I am asking Dr Berg to make things clear :)
Another great video. Thanks for sharing doc. We've been following your advice for long with some great results! Now, we're helping our followers, showing how to cook delicious Portuguese Keto friendly receipts.
Dr. Berg, I like your list and I want to mention that with Potatoes if someone is preparing at home, they can peel and then soak potatoes for at least a couple hours to pull the starch out out of them. The same thing goes with flour to take care of the phylates you mentioned, and with beans, soak it first to get rid of the lectins. I do have a question for you what is your opinion on kombucha?
If you want a great organ meat, i would seek out Canned Cod liver in it's own oil. It has alot of vitamin A, Omega 3 and all the other benefits you get from liver. I dont like to eat it tho.
Greetings Dr Eric. Really glad to have your videos for the best possible knowledge and ofcourse from a trusted source . Sir please kindly do similar nutrient information video for vegetarians and which suppliments do u recommend in that case.
In this list of Nutrient-Dense Foods for Keto, I would have added Avocado and Sardines, as well as EVOO and Coconut Oil. Dr. Eric Berg is a brilliant rock star. Handsome and in a class of his own.
I’m so grateful to Dr. Berg I don’t have words for just how grateful I am 🙏🏼❣️ I do have a wish, though: Please tell us which kind of Magnesium, Zinc etc, because there are so many different kinds to choose from. Thank you in advance 🙏🏼❣️
Banana and coconut water are abundant in Potassium and magnesium and very easy to get! And you don’t need to eat too much, like 1-2 banana or 1 coconut water in a day is enough!
I didn't know Swiss Chard was high in oxalates. I've been eating it all Summer and Fall, and do seem to have more joint pain. Have also been feeding it to the Chickens, and they may get the rest!
Hey Dr Berg can you please do a video on what to do for Leptin Resistance? I swear I have Leptin Resistance because my Stomach feels full and satisfied but my brain still wants to keep eating. How do I fix that?
I am new to keto and i am in the learning stages of what to eat and what to avoid. As a lot of our food is lacking in goodness and nutrients should we be taking vitamin supplements? I am overwhelmed at the amount of vitamins available and wondering should we be taking 1 or 2 good multivitamins or a lot of individual ones.
6 oz or 170g is more than adequate, but have more if you like. Synthetic vitamins can he toxic, but the appetite seldom permits us to overeat such nutrient dense foods, due to the satiety factor.
Dr berg, with the coming food shortages, lockdowns, and possible civil war here in parts of the US what types of storable foods are keto friendly? Obviously certain nuts and nut butters but what else? Thanks.
maybe cheese if you can get dried in packs or even like most aged cheeses will last after their use by date but you need fridge i guess anyway i think and canned fish/meats i guess is always a good bet and stuff like beef jerky dried meats etc
I am stocking some can tuna in water, jars of coconut oil (for good fat) can chicken. can green beans and can tomatoes, sugar free Jello, coffee, can coconut milk and maybe a few other things. I figured those are close enough if food storage to be prepared to eat wholesome foods. I am keto also and know if lock down and store closing at least i can eat!! Blessings
I work from home so one time a day around noon I will look outside to see if the sun is out. If it is I take my shirt off and walk letting the sun hit my body for about 10 to 15 minutes then I go back inside. You want to expose as much skin to the sun as legally possible. lol I live in Florida so many people don't have the luxury to do this in the winter, but do your best. Youll find that a lot of days you can't do this because its raining, overcast, cloudy, etc. But guys the vitamin D you get from the sun is priceless. It's literally wealth just sitting there for free that will heal your body in so many ways.
Too true. I'm lucky enough to live in the Southwest - very dry, almost never cloudy. I'm still doing long morning walks in a tank top and capris and it's quite comfortable. Nothing feels better than a brisk breeze and warm sun on your shoulders.
Question: The oxalates in spinach for example, will they get broken down over time with shots of lemon juice? Is ACV effective for the kidney stone issue in regards to oxalates?
@@kirank9078 Yes the calcium in leafy greens will also block heme iron absorption. Citrus can help to break apart the calcium oxalate bonds. But whether or not citrus alone can help the body rid of oxalates quicker is not proven. Doctors prescribe potassium citrate supplement to help break down kidney stones bc of the citric acid in it. Drinking lemon juice will do the same I imagine. For more info on oxalates and its potential effects in the body I recommend watching Sally Norton and Elliot Overton they both go into great detail on this topic.
Hello Doctor. When you mentioned Vitamin C I noticed you mentioned a good source is from vegetables because of the high fibre content. You've mentioned certain fruits in other videos because of the high fibre content along with the need for citrus; Lemons, Oranges Avocadoes. What of Banana when they are green for a source of Potassium? I've downloaded your cheat sheets which are really handy as the place to start with a Keto Diet. Otherwise there are a lot of video's to go through and it can get confusing or seem contradicting. Just to add. I like drinking Cider vinegar or somthing sour like Lemons or an un-ripe orange as it curbs the urge for sweet things; biscuits cakes and so on. Thank you Doctor.
Dr. Berg, Can you talk about weight gain with exercise? I cycle outdoors and am often 3-5 pounds heavier the next day after a ride. It can take several days to lose the gain too. What's the deal?
Possibly water retention if you’re not consuming enough salts during and after your workout. I have that same problem if I sweat it all out and don’t replenish
@@danakarloz5845 thanks, could be. I sweat a lot, but also put sea salt in my water bottles (tastes like milk almost, so I may be low). I also add sea salt to everything I consume all day long. Not sure how I could get more.
Could you do a video on micronutrient content of niche meats? Lamb, duck, goose, venison, elk, catfish or wild river fish etc? I think that would be incredibly interesting!
