It's time to learn about all the different kinds of minerals! There are 8 classes, so let's check out the first four, those being native elements, oxides, halides, and sulfides. These are things like metals and then minerals with monoatomic anions. Let's check them out!

Hi Prof. Dave, could I use light absorption to recognize monazite in the field? As an example, could I shine a 540nm laser and whatever is reflected back would be a monazite rock? or better yet, is there a frequency that thorium emits that I could detect with a meter? Thanks!

Yea but I mean think about a carbonate or borate. You have to uniquely create a hydrogen vacuum through processing. Metallurgy is useful but I think in between chemistry and metallurgy you get weird shit like flipping the state of elements. At what configuration is lithium metastable in a way the resembles ethanol or gasoline? This should be possible I think, but it’s a fractional form of exotic matter. It’s specifically really hard to isolate to a large degree. Then I’m thinking about locality and age determination, idk. I feel like there’s more data to find all around

I was married to a wacko pseudo Catholic practicing witch. She took me to one of these new age stores where they sold these rocks. It blew my mind that she knew what each one was purported to be able to accomplish for a person handling them the correct way. Quite fascinating really how people can wrap themselves up into believing such nonsense which is made up completely out of thin air. Eventually my last question was what's the spot price for traders on that one? Cause I'll think about paying that for it and hope demand goes up later.

This was pretty cool, but every time I hear anions and especially cations, now, I hear the complete idjit flat-earther that thought he knew what they were, but kept saying "cayshuns" instead of cations. It was hilarious! 🤣 But now, I have a hard time listening to something involving the terms and paying attention, because I'm constantly thinking about that video!
