When my younger brother was around 3 years old, my mom was a Sunday studies teacher for the church. We were at the church, rehearsing for a choir when my brother wandered off a bit. He pushed his head through a hole in an ornate podium on the temple and got stuck. He panicked and started crying and thrashing. My mom couldn't get him out and was on the verge of tears herself. The rest of us were all kids, no one knew what to do. Then this man came in, we didn't see where from because we were all watching the situation. He didn't say a word, just put his hands around my brother's head and gently guided him out. My mom immediately huged my brother and was calming him and then turned to thank the stranger but he wasn't there anymore. She ran outside the temple, but he was nowhere to be seen. I saw him. My sister saw him. My mom and brother did (although my brother was too young and doesn't remember), and a bunch of kids from the choir were there too. I don't remember his face, but he was dressed in a gray suit. To this day, we all believe he was an angel.
I have a simular story, when I was 14 I lived in fort worth Texas, there was a tornado one night and the lady that lived across the street was stuck in her car, no one could help her, no one could get to her. About 3 minutes into her being trapped in the car some man came and helped her out of the car and helped her get inside. The man then wandered off into the tornado. I saw him, my mom and dad saw him, the lady obviously saw him but days after the tornado the lady went door to door all over the neighborhood to find this man to thank him. Needless to say she never found him and no one knew what she was talking about. Angel maybe?
i love the thought of an angel coming down to earth and over to help out what he was told was a mortal child in need, and then just sees the brother stuck in the podium and is like "Really? *This* is what I was called for?"
Thrones are also called Ophanim. The saying "God sees everything" comes from the Ophanim. Ophanim are not only the wheels on God's throne, they are the "security cameras" of existence for these multi-eyed, gyroscopic wheels see everything in all directions.
The phrase truth is stranger than fiction is what comes to mind when the angels are described. Nothing man has created with his imagination is anywhere near as unsettling and awe inspiring as the angelic hosts.
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is Jacob wrestling with an Angel for his blessing. Such an insane thing to imagine, and the audacity to even square up with one. Wild.
Not Jesus per se. Jacob alludes to having faced God Himself, as he names the place where they wrestled "The Face of God." Moreover, whether it was an angel or a deity who faced Jacob, they did so in the form of a man. Although the logistics of trying to wrestle a four-winged, four-wheeled, fiery angel would be at the very least, interesting.
@@DerickMasai Definitely is Jesus, there’s clear indicators that it is, and in the Hebrew it says that he literally wrestled God and met him face-to-face. That’s why he was renamed Israel by God. Israel literally means wrestles with God. Additionally A mere angel does not have the authority to rename a human being, if we go off the New Testament, Jesus declares to us that we have authority even over the angels, because were made in the image of God. God gives us dominion over this earth and in the garden of Eden he gave Adam the power to name everything that was created. Therefore, logically the only person who can overrule the name that was bestowed by man is God.
@@wahoostacos2095 Exactly. Everything you said is very correct except for alluding that it is Jesus. This is pure conjecture. The passage speaks of God, not Jesus. I'm a firm believer that the bible is almost all allegory to something else other than the fantastical elements which could be explained as translation errors over the years of translating from one language to another. (It also could be seen as maybe Aliens as well, since the description of the ophanim being rings within rings that are on FIRE with eyes around the rings and an individual in the centre sounds A LOT like the traditional idea of what a flying saucer with a passenger looks like.) And seriously, if you think about it - wouldnt an alien say some shit like "be not afraid" to some primitive societies that probably WOULD perceive them as gods or angels after doing some in-vitro fertilization and having a virgin birth would certainly reinforce that idea. Just my 2 cents!
It’s these videos and comments like these that remind me, most Christians are good. It’s just that the bad people speak louder so are easier to see. You’re one of them the good ones, remember that. Have a great day

Exactly, I fit into that more agnostic category. I see religion as a way for society to better itself, but it has been perverted by human nature for its greed. You’re the first person I’ve watched who included how angels were sanitized during the renaissance for their painting commissions. I took an art history course when learning how to illustrate and learned that the Renaissance is HUGELY IMPORTANT in how we perceive heavenly beings and satanic beings today. Renaissance art is pretty much the basis for the more relatable depictions of angels in particular.
I think they may have tried to water the depictions down to try to (with a lack of better words) lure in any non christians or remaining Greek religious people.

I saw an orphanim in a dream once It was a wonderful experience. It appeared and I watched it move around in my dream. I also believe I met an angel in person once. It was in the wintertime of 2020. The amount of peace I felt after that stuck with me through out the day and for many days afterwards. I'll never forget that interaction.
Yep, and people wonder why angels are so scary and noisy. We have meteorologists and wifi and asphalt roads and central heating. They had hysterical clergymen and other narcissists praying on fear and misunderstanding. "Hear the wind? Scared yet? It's an angel, checking up on you, you better not cheat on me or he'll eat your legs and will let you walk on crutches forever, even in the afterlife!" And people still fall for that shit and go to churches and pray... :s The self awareness of people is as rare as any effect of any god or angel: completely absent from the entire history of the universe.
I thought Angels were something that were pretty cool to begin with, but to think that there might be one out there seated next to the throne of God named “Metatron” is the coolest thing ever.
“Metatron” is a fan fiction. Hebrews 1 : 1-8 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. 5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. 8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Story from one of my friends: A Mormon man from Hong Kong was doing his mission in England, but could barely speak a word of English. He was feeling pretty stressed out and downtrodden, till (his words) a beautiful woman saw him having a breakdown and started talking to him perfectly in Cantonese to comfort him and offer support. Later, when he was describing the encounter to some of his friends he said "I think I met an angel?" When he described her, they realized it was in fact our mutual friend Claire, who has a doctorate in languages, and just happens to be a lovely person.
While I may be atheist, that sounds like a very good example of what Jesus wanted from his followers, loving others as yourself, and “what you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.” Sometimes when people see those in need as like Jesus, they can become an example of His love for those they help. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, it’s been a long time since I’ve talked about this stuff, but this would have made me very happy years ago, and still makes me happy. Thanks for sharing the story. 😊
I dunno if anyone has ever mentioned this before, but when it's described as some of their wings having eyes, the first thing I thought of was actually peacock feathers!
I think that “archangel” may be more of a title and position of leadership than anything else, considering that Michael could be a seraph, and that Raphael could be the leader of the virtues.

My grandpa and two uncles once encountered two angels that helped to fix their truck in snowy conditions but were not dressed for the weather. They were walking along the road in the middle of nowhere and helped with the truck but when my grandpa turned to thank them, they were gone. Best angel story I’ve ever heard.
A similar thing happened to my father. He was taking a long drive in the dead of night on an empty highway. And he saw some sort of place off the road so he pulled over thinking maybe he could get some gas. So he hopped out and it was very eerie and incredibly dark, and he was already scared, and he kept walking until he was walking on stone and suddenly saw a weeping angel statue and saw a creepy sign that read Newman’s cemetery. He ran back to the truck, looked both ways and there was no cars, then was about to fill up the tank with his emergency can of gas when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turns around and there’s a mustached cop and a cop car right behind his truck with a completely identical cop leaning against the hood. They said to him something like “You shouldn’t stop on roads like this at night.” And he got in his truck and left. He looked in his review mirror, and the car and the cops were gone.
If they were in Wyoming, those were just the locals. We acclimate to the winter quickly and are prone to wearing "inappropriate" clothing for the weather
my dad and uncle had the same thing! They rolled their car in a very remote area somehow. they were fine and so was the car, but they could't get it flipped upright. Out of nowhere these two guys in a Citi Golf show up, flip the car, and disappeared before my dad could thank them.

@@arieson7715 The demon asmodeus is described as looking almost exactly like a cherubim, with the same faces and wings. And also claims to Solomon that his father is an angel. So, the answer to your question is probably lol.
It feels good hearing someone talk about the Bible from a neutral pov. Not ridiculing the weird and hard to explain aspects while also not shoving the content down our throats. You're awesome!
Fun fact: my dad when he was a kid was in a car accident where half of the car was off a cliff edge and the other half was on cliff. But magically a man showed up to pull them out. He remembers the man pulling them out but doesn’t remember anything else. One thing he does remember is the man saying absolutely nothing besides him saying “I’m always watching and smiled at my dad” and pretty much disappeared. My dad lived in a very small community and knew everyone and my dad and my grandma didn’t know who he was…my dad thinks it was his guardian angel.
Your dad is a liar or had massive trama or was majorly mistaken... Its a shame you're telling this story as if its true years later, goddamn it use your brain.
My grandmother had a similar experience. About a decade ago she had gotten into a car accident and had little injuries, but from seemingly nowhere, she said 2 young women appeared next to the car and told her to call the ambulance. My grandmother said she was fine just had some bruises, but the girls said "Oh no no, you need an ambulance so you can get you treated properly", shortly after grandma called the ambulance, she turned to the girls who had disappeared just as mysteriously as they had arrived. When she got to the hospital and they scanned her, they found she had a tumor growing in her, but it was small enough that it wouldn't be difficult to get removed. She said that she's grateful to what she believes to be a couple of guardian angels that helped save her life.
@@appleid3151 Calm down mr. edgy atheist. I dont believe in god either but there is no need to be a douche about it. His dad likely believes this 100% and as such calling him a liar is just dumb. You would say he is mistaken. Use your brain.
Somethin like that happened with my grandma and her sister is a whirlpool at a lake. Nobody saw two kids almost die. She said silver headed twins dove in for them.
I’m a non religious person. But I ADORE these depictions. I don’t know what it is about them but they are so beautiful and fascinating. Thank you so much for making this video, wendigoon. I love learning more about these depictions and this really helped me!
Hey I’m not coming from judgment at all and just curious because I haven’t asked a non religious person but even as a non religious person do you think there isn’t a higher power at all? Or do you think there is a higher power but not on a religious standpoint? Once again I’m just curious and would love to hear your opinion
@@DevanAshborneI'm not the person you asked, but I'll answer anyway lol. I don't believe there is a higher power personally, at least not in the traditional manner of a being overseeing life and being responsible for creating it. I believe in certain vague concepts such as mother nature- not in the sense that mother nature controls or actively influences us, but that it connects us with nature and other living things. This doesn't mean that everything is equal, it just means I respect that everything out there is trying to survive. From viruses, to parasites, to fish, birds, etc. We all share a common goal of wanting to continue to survive. Anyways. If there is a higher power out there in the traditional sense, I cannot believe that they are a "Good" being. I think they'd have to be a neutral being. I've never been able to prescribe to the belief that bad things happen to good people for a reason. I can't live with that. To me it's much more comforting to think that bad things simply happen sometimes, and that's alright, We just have to figure out how to keep going.
@@someoneidk308 wow that’s a really fascinating point of view and I love that! Some Christians do believe god is only good but are actually taught to fear god in a manner. I don’t label myself as Christian but someone who simply believes in god and the power of manifestation and all that lol. Thank you so much for taking your time in telling me your views, I think it’s really captivating and interesting and now have a better understanding 🖤
@@DevanAshborneI’m not religious, but I have a personal idea or belief that the universe itself is an entity in some manner, and we all exist and are conscious as an extension of that. We are what brings life to the universe, existence itself. I like to hear these stories and descriptions, but the bible is a book written by people about things I’ve never seen and experienced, about things that they may have experienced and not understood. The only thing I know is I exist, and I guess in a sense that is my religion, that all there is is existence and we are manifestation of it. If something exists and nothing perceives it…. Then does it really exist?
@@DevanAshborne I also have no belief in any higher power. I think we're simply a product of the natural order of things, a lovely coincidence. I don't do good things out of fear of hell or a need to reach an afterlife - I just do good because it's the right thing to do. In my eyes, that is the purest form of kindness, far more than any religious doctrine, because those force incentive.
