@@Anthintendo And ye, the scroll was opened, and Gabriel spake thus to Satan "L & Foolish One & Trodden Upon & Downcast & Thou Art Fallen & Weighed in the Scales and Found Wanting"
The description of Lucifer being struck by Michael's god given sword is the first experience of pain in the universe is one of the most metal things i've ever heard.
The most amazing thing about all this in my opinion is that Milton didn't "write" Paradise Lost; one of the greatest pieces of literature in the English canon: he was blind, so dictated the entire story to his daughters who wrote it down for him. This man had to imagine this entire thing and couldn't keep any notes or references, since he couldn't read what he'd written!
What astounds me most about this twelve-volume poem is that Milton, having gone blind fifteen years before Paradise Lost was published, dictated the entire thing to his daughter, which she then wrote down. Milton evoking such beautiful imagery while blind reminds me of Beethoven composing the Ninth Symphony while completely deaf. Absolutely amazing
At the beginning of book three, Milton once again calls to his muse, and even mentions his blindness; how he’ll never again see the beauty of the world, or the divinity of the human face. But he also says that’s okay, because it further allows for the light and inspiration of the Holy Spirit to shine from within him. I thought that was really beautiful when I read it.
@@Laocoon283The prevailing understanding is that there was no Homer, it was rather a collection of authors building a 'genre' known as Homer. Of course, any understanding of Homer needs to be understood from the concept of Troy. Homer wrote of Troy and was seen as a myth for millenia... until the city was found exactly where Homer wrote about it.
Satan will always lose that’s something to laugh at. The way he uses people to laugh at you or whatever it may be to knock you down .. just remember where his doom awaits. Lmao
@@OLDIRTYDAVID My own. These are fictional stories lol, although Lucifer being a representative of ambition & self-interest naturally leans me more towards his point of view. Certainly not on Gabriels side, the worm was a glorified errand-boy; like all of the people who bend the knee to the neckbeard in the sky.
To me, the most haunting thing from Paradise Lost that still disturbs me to this day is the imagery of Sin. Something I was hoping you’d bring up in your analysis of her character is that she is constantly giving birth to these canine monsters who, themselves, copulate with her to produce more and more of themselves in an eternally incestuous cycle. When I first read this, I felt it was meant to represent that the mind often falls in love with its own creations, “ideas”, and unless these ideas are presented to the wider world for scrutiny and discourse, then the idea will fall in love with itself and often spawn even more ideas solely off from its own imagined merits, but with each subsequent new idea becoming even more flawed and degenerated than the last. It’s a disturbing allegory of how bad ideas that are never brought to the light of day will fester and multiply unto themselves until nothing else can be done about it. What starts as a thought of pure beauty can, over time, degenerate into an overflowing cesspool of madness if you aren’t careful.
That's a horrifying revelation, and even if its in a biblical sense here, I can definitely see this being very familiar to the modern world from... certain political stances to something that hits closer to home for me, being an artist and writer and not taking some time to get feedback for the ideas that I make for my own works.
Ngl as someone who follows a lot of nsfw artists and knows a lot about the medium(obviously not supporting the worst parts of it) I was pretty much desensitized to the concept but this really sheds a new light on it
The fact that he was able to come up with something that represents the idea of sin birthing more deplorable sin is, for lack of a better term, beautiful. There’s nothing I can imagine that could represent this concept better, and that’s a testament to his writing talent.
The snake tried to get her with the Apple. Thankfully, Eve was an Android woman. She also votes Trump. The snake got grilled on the barbecue. Don’t step on snek 🐍
@@MrFurley69What I find interesting about the story of Adam and Eve is how she was the one to be fooled by a nefarious influence. This reminds me of how the majority of advertising is directed towards women because historically they have been more easily manipulated. Women in the US maintain the majority of all credit card debt.
"Look at the chart. *I would body you in an instant.* " is the single greatest characterization of an Angel speaking to Satan I have ever heard. 45:00 for anyone wanting to hear it again XD
My favorite parts of this: - Gabriel calling Satan a wuss - “Wow, that cherub is…going through it.” - Adam innocently asking if angels mate and Raphael physically blushing - Adam seeing what Eve did and realizing that he was going to be lonely again and he’d rather be dead - Satan’s argument to taking over Heaven basically being “You think God is our Mom?? Do you Remember being born? I don’t remember being born” and it WORKED?? - Mary being the Second Eve that defeats the Serpent on Eve’s behalf - “Tell me about His great battle” and him getting choked up explaining that the “Battle” was literally just Love - Satan in paradise carrying Hell with him bc of his Despair and humanity leaving paradise with Hope - “I’m sorry did the Snake write this???”
1:30:15 This is hilarious to me. I love the idea of a bunch of demons sitting in Hell just doing their evil demon things and then suddenly they’re like “Aw crap, it’s Snake Week again.”
knowing the context of the religious conflicts in the 1600s makes these works so interesting because you can see the distinct similarities between the story and what the author was going through in real life
I wonder if Milton was trying to draw a comparison to the royalists after the civil war. Personally I think Satan's characterization is more comparable to Cromwell.
Really its what makes it such a fundamental piece of western culture. Its not only incredibley well written, but its focus contains deep insights on one of the bigger paradigm shift in western culture
1:00:17 It's so funny how Lucifer and the angels are seriously at war and God just casually turns down their powers like he's a dad supervising his children's fight so they don't destroy the house
Satan tried to fly outside of hell and it didnt work, a gust of wind does just so happens to catch and carry him back on track..... I guess considering the authors love of gods power and foresight it would make sense that god canonically was on top of business the entire time
It also calls further into question the audacity and insanity of Lucifer’s arrogance that he could fight God. Like, buddy, God casually depowers EVERY angel at once including you and Micheal…what chance do you think you really have here? lmfao

“Love does not exist without the concept of free will. Something cannot be loved if it’s just for subjugation. It has to be a willing desire to follow something else”. Damn Wendi is getting deep with it here.
And wholeheartedly true, in a beautiful way. There is a universal law, known as the law of freedom, if that law is broken love is destroyed and rebellion arises. And another universal law is the law of love, if this is broken undeniably death is likely to follow, since love is the action of giving and receiving, such as the way of life as we know nowadays. This is a simplified explanation of a book based on certain principles found in the bible. So when I heard it the first time, I couldn't help but to think about these laws, amidst others.
So what about the free will of Mary? You know the woman god raped? Where was her free will, her freedom to say no, or her right to tell God to go to hell instead of forcing her to give birth to Jesus? No matter how deep it sounds we can not forget that God forces his will on others when it suits his need or to make a bet with the devil and ruin a man's life. So tell me again about this supposed love and free will again done by God.
@@valor1omega if you actually read that section of the Bible you’d know that an angel literally came and visited her to tell her she was gonna bear a child by God in the future and she was all for this, literally celebrating. I’m not Christian, in fact I was brought up in a very anti religious household. I’ve always had an interest in religion, but seeing you cry over the loss of purity in humanity really solidified how much religion can mean to people. I thank you for sharing a religious view on things as it’s helped me understand how important it is to those who believe it.
It is very hard to not weep at Milton’s poetry, specifically when it deals with so deep and so tragic a story as the Fall of Man. I do not know if you already have, but if you ever have the chance, read Paradise Lost itself. Even when one is not Christian (as I am), it enraptures the soul, and I have seen even Pagans and Atheists moved by it.
I’m agnostic, always had a spiritual side of me, but never really dedicated myself to a certain religion, but these Christianity and Biblical stories have been so interesting to me lately, it does make me think.

There's an audiobook of Paradise Lost that has an ensemble cast, with Ian McDiarmid as Lucifer...so you literally hear Emperor Palpatine plotting against God and it's amazing
The fact that people can read this as making Satan the good guy really speaks to Milton's writing of the character. Here he isn't a caricature of evil and depravity, but a prideful, charismatic leader who could make a valid enough argument to convince legions to follow him in his personal and private pursuit of power and glory. When people read this and say "he kinda has a point" that is EXACTLY the point! Because people don't simply bow down before someone to make them king because they say so, they make someone king who promises all riches and reward in return, who preys on their own pride and beliefs and says "I can give you what you are being deprived of". It's masterful
@@Jonap2001 his argument appealed to the pride in those angels that sides with him. But I don't think he necessarily lied, he said to those angels "let us go to war against God and I will treat you all better than he ever did". Something to that effect. It may have been untrue, but a lie must be not believed by the person speaking, and I think Satan truly believed he stood a chance, blinded by his ego and wrath. No doubt though he would have said anything he thought would turn the most angels to his cause, so he very well may have lied, but to his audience, the angels of whom he wanted loyalty, he had to make a very convincing argument so that they would see his as a just cause and rebel against their Lord God. When I say his argument must have been valid, I don't mean it was righteous by any means, but effective at convincing those angels to side with him. He no doubt played on their own pride and jealousy, but his argument was effective.

It's also the fact that Adam started constantly blaming her since then broke me even more. I think it were those moments that made Eve realize just how big of a mistake she made, since Adam's right - He bared her sin with her just because of her own selfish idea to have Adam all by herself instead of letting him have another Eve (and I'm not saying this as a bad thing, after all Adam was being selfish too by disregarding the consequences just to be with Eve) and now he has to suffer for her sake too. That amount of guilt is probably what made Eve break down first.

If you like the stories so much then I suggest you read many of the stories of The Bible. This story is rooted in Christian themes and ideology . The thing that converted me was how true and relatable the lessons of the Bible were. How much they resonate with human desires, conflicts and experiences is crazy.
The way that you present Christian theology and stories is so palatable, between this, Dantes work and the Sunday schools you're allowing me an unblemished insight into the actual lessons trying to be taught through the bible, I am learning a lot and I am grateful for this, thank you
What lessons have you learned so far? You don't have to explain but I also think you can gain insights through stories like this as I have through other works especially the 48 laws of power and the stories they use to explain them.
If you need anything related to Christian theology i highly encourage looking in to the church fathers and their teachings first, and then watching videos on youtube talking about faith.
As someone who is a Christian but has experienced a lot of religious trauma, I think your reaction to Christ's sacrifice is so refreshing, definitely not cringe. Christianity has been used as a manipulation tactic so much throughout my life, and seeing someone have such a pure love and appreciation for Christ is so beautiful and very healing❤
Thank you, and thankfully it has gotten better. Recently I've come to have a relationship with God again and work through the trauma. It's still difficult to talk ab religion with others or go to church, but I'm happy to be at peace with God now.

No preaching, no judgment, just your passion for the story and how it affects you personally, as you approach it from all these philosophical perspectives, and it's just so genuine that I can't help but be on board. I left organized religion years ago (I was raised catholic) and at this point I'm just kind of a spiritual whateverist based on whatever feels meaningful to me, but revisiting the biblical stories with you is almost kind of nostalgic. Reminds me of my grandma, who's really into angels (yet not so much into christianity as a whole, it's mostly... angels laced with new age spiritualism). Angels and demons and the genesis/exodus story have always been my favorite parts of the christian religion when I was a kid, so it's nice to revisit it from a different perspective.

1:23:05 the saddest thing is that nobody realizes this is the first time love was wasted on arguing. The time they spend now arguing instead of loving each other is limited because she ate the fruit. Before it was eternal and now everything, even love has to come to an end. Truly a paradise lost
Nobody would suggest that love has come to an end because of this. I reckon the real takeaway is that we have to swallow our pride in order to truly love one another. That's just me though.
It’s not like they don’t have freewill and are incapable of repairing their relationship. That requires both parties to improve though, both need to want change. Real love can still thrive in spite of sin

Dude, you seriously nailed it! I’ve never heard such an articulate, saavy, insightful analysis of anything in the Christian realm! The question has always been, “With as much knowledge as Satan has, how could he be dumb enough to launch this war against God?” Your conclusion, that he just can’t restrain or conceal his true feelings of envy and narcissism is the best explanation I’ve seen so far. I’ve never really considered myself a Christian-I grew up pretty disconnected from religion itself, but your passion and emotion directed towards this story was amazing to watch/listen to. Thanks for this man, I can’t wait for the next one
I loved how touched he was when talking about the purity of love, Adams’ love for Eve, and Jesus’ sacrifice as the ultimate and last sacrifice of love…such a sweet moment
It creepy to me. Like that one fanboy who was crying over the Star Wars trailer. Except in this allegory the cult of Star Wars is a bloodied ideology that is responsible for killing and torturing innocents while holding back scientific and cultural progress.
As an atheist I've always thought the story of Adam and Eve was ridiculous. This video has given me a newfound respect for them and their story. Thank you, and I'm sorry for thinking lesser of this.
You know, it's easy to write religion down as silly fairy tales, but most of religious texts (be it the Bible or the Vedas or Egyptian mythology or anything for that matter), are the wisdom of mankind crystalized into a canon. Up to the point of being written, they are what humanity knew was so important, it had to be written and kept dearly close to their lives.
I love how much respect Eve is given in the story. I heard very ignorant people validate the pain women go through in child birth bc of Eve and that it automatically spits women in this place of shame and disrespect. So much of the story acknowledges the beauty of growing a person inside and constantly points out that Eve was the first “Holy Mother of Man” meaning she deserves respect. It’s just so refreshing to hear Adam speak about his love for his partner and the importance of her in the world. I teared up at some points too.
Yeah, it shocks me to hear how people read Eve’s deception and sin to be a “woman stupid-bad, man wise-good” argument when Milton clearly portrays Eve as something so good and so beautiful. Somehow, people see misogyny in places like Eden. It makes little sense to see it this way.
Adam and eves love in this story is so fucking cool… they went from perfection to disgrace and despite it all, despite pain hatred envy rage fear uncertainty and guilt … chose to love each other … I like to think that ends up being the thing that saves them… their love for each other… and when they finally get into the perfect paradise… nothing about their love changes… because it’s already perfect even if they argue.. even if they tell and disagree… even if they hurt each other.. apologies come afterwards.. because that’s what their love has always been… even in sin their love is perfect
Damn... was anyone else moved to tears watching him read the poem of Adam resigning himself to his fate with eve??? So much emotion in wendigoon, reading that!!! Broke my heart!
Hit me out of nowhere. I have tried to read paradise lost before and found it obtuse and boring. But his reading of it made it clear how beautiful the poetry was and how heartrending the story could be. I was genuinely moved.
Anytime I stop to think about the debt of sin being lifted from us, paid in blood by the son of God, I am compelled to weep. Tears blurry my vision as I type this. The warmth and light of God's love is a feeling like no other.
It is NOT cringe to get emotional! This is a powerful and long-beloved story, and it made me emotional too just hearing you tell it. Your genuine engagement and vulnerability with your audience just shows yet again that you are an excellent storyteller. Thank you for being willing to show your true feelings. It makes your narration all the richer.
The reverence Adam spoke of Eve after she had eaten of the fruit and how no other creation by God would suffice to him; the tonal shift with Windigoon during that moved me. I agree with your assessment, he did it honor
I don’t think he meant it was cringe to cry while reading it I think he meant it was cringe to have it on a RU-vid video shown to millions. Not that I’m making fun of them for it. He clearly felt strongly about it.
As an atheist myself its such a strange feeling but also beautiful that for the first time in my life I catch myself saying I want to be like Jesus and I want to love my girl how Adam loved Eve from Eden. Amazing video man really truly beautiful
It's sorta like Christian music, there are a lot of great artists that incorporate their beliefs into their work without making it jarring like "half alive creature" but they get drowned out by the people who think that saying Jesus a million times will make the world a jessusier place
As a fellow Christian, I deeply appreciated the love and care you put into explaining this poem to us. I, too, was moved to tears several times. As an English teacher, I also appreciate a poem that has a reputation for being boring getting some of the recognition it deserves.
It felt like Adam's lamentations to the tragedy of discovering Eve had partaken of the Forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, the consequences of that action that ultimately made him rescind himself to Death, is like a wedding vow of pure unyielding love to his other half. Whole in life. Whole in death. It's like the concept of marriage had emerged for the first time. And it's tragically beautiful.
I like adams backstory in record of ragnarock for the same reason. He’s just an absolute man. Loves his wife, loves his kids, loves gods creation. Simple as.
It's well done but amazing how so many rely on what was told them instead of what is written. Eve did not convince Adam. Adam was right there as she bit into the fruit and handed it to him. Read again.
Seeing this man get worked up at the end talking about Jesus really shows the depth of his character. This is the same man that describes to us unimaginable horrors. I love this channel.
Even as a non religious person I absolutely love these breakdowns and seeing how much this means to you makes it even better. I really do enjoy learning about these things and since I'm generally too busy to read them myself this is the next best thing.
same, and I’ve found the diction in old texts hard to comprehend, so to hear everything in an entertaining manner in layman’s terms is a breath of fresh air and a beautiful whole new depiction of the universe to enjoy~
Why do you guys constantly have to tell everyone you're not religious? We don't care lol. "Oh btw my soul is damned to everlasting torment, but I really liked the video!"
This is such a beautiful story. The part where Eve was considering suicide and specifically Adam's response broke me. I also cried with you when Michael was describing Jesus' coming. Videos like these are my favourite of yours. They not only educate but help me reflect on my own life and beliefs. Thank you for sharing them.
The imagery and words chosen are immaculate, not only from John Milton, but from you explaining his work. The only problem with this is that it is hard to not take it as fact because of how much sense it makes. Especially with the imagery spoken of Adams Love for Eve.
I’ve fell off with religion a lot in the last 10 years of my life. This video feels like it did when I was 5 learning about god for the first time. It’s such a beautiful story, truly. Thank you for bringing this feeling back to me, Wendi. You’re a gem ❤️
@@frightfactoryYT Wow. When I was a child I loved goin to church. It was the only place I had friends that weren't jerks. Most ppl are competitive and narcissistic and I felt better around ppl that didn't treat ppl like that...plus church gave us dinner and snacks, plus fun stuff and singing for Father. I miss it. Probably the only really true innocent times I can remember were at church no tv, no internet, no reason to try to impress anyone or judge each other. I'm sorry that your experience wasn't with people that made you feel loved like it should have been.
People these days are so cut off from God. We all think that we can find our way to Him without needing to get up early on a Sunday. We all think we're growing closer to Him when we remember to occasionally thank Him for some piece of good fortune, but the fact is we aren't. We're so separated and isolated from God and the world jsut keeps doing everything in its power to keep Him away from us. I felt so drained and devoid of happiness recently and it wasn't until I went back to church that I realized it was because I had grown so far apart from God without even realizing it. We *need* church in our lives. We need a community of believers to hold us accountable and keep us firm when the world wants to push us away from God. I recommend everyone finding a good church near them and going back. Where else is better to find God than in His house, with His body?
@@NovusIgnis sure, which denomination should I attend? There's Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, LDS, FLDS, Seventh Day Adventist, and the list goes on. I want to make sure I pick the correct one because they all have different practices, rules, and beliefs. Which one is correct?
I took a whole English class in college about just this book. It's that dense in meaning, every line deserves its own analysis. Truly one of the greatest works ever composed in the English language.
It's not cringe to cry Wendi ^^; I'm an atheist, but the poetic description of Adam expressing that his love for Eve is stronger than his own drive for self-preservation or life in paradise made me cry listening to this. I have always experienced romantic love very strongly and that was so relatable and pure and accurate. I couldn't help crying over it.
No lie, I’d listen to Wendi reading the entirety of Paradise Lost. Including the crying bits. He reads the words with such investment and understanding, it could rival any other narrator.
It's really tragic how Lucifer's downfall started with what was essentially his love for God and desire to be with him, but it grew into something evil.
The way Adam reacts to what Eve did. It’s what feels like the moment you lost your love for someone, or at least, love them a little less. It’s really hard to describe unless you’ve been into the situation of being madly in love with someone, platonically or romantically and them doing something that makes you feel so disappointed in them.
@David Woods It really was an ultimate kindness with the shitty scenario they were damned to. Adam was given the story of all of it, how it would end, and how ultimately, everything was gonna be okay. The rest of their lives, they would have to experience suffering, and anxieties, and body pains, and disease, and ultimately death--but to always have that hope within both of them would be something humanity will carry forward till the end
Don’t apologize for crying or getting emotional over this masterpiece. This made me weep like a baby while I was doing chores so I think that crying in the middle of chores because of a RU-vid video would be considered more cringe. Loved the video though, masterpiece as always. Keep up the good work, and I can’t wait to not only see what you cover next, but what the next Sunday school video will be!
You're completely right about people misunderstanding this book as just E-boy Satan, and I'm extremely happy you covered it. I bought it a few years ago and just couldn't get into it sadly, so I watched some other RU-vidr cover it and they painted the plot so terribly compared to you. It was such a basic run down and pretty much laid out what you said most people interpret the book. They just focus on the whole sympathy for the Devil aspect which isn't there and don't even mention the real meat of the discussions between Adam, Eve, and the Archangel Raphael, the fall of man with Adam's pure undying devotion to Eve, and the intrigue Adam had. I found it so interesting that in the book Raphael said it's okay to ask questions and be inquisitive. I went to a Catholic school from grades 1-11 and it always seemed like if you asked questions, you were questioning God's plan and activity going against him, and it's like no, just curious. Great video like all your others, but I think this one is just a bit better. Maybe it's that personal touch you have with Christianity.
I remember growing up having the same problem when I would ask questions that I just genuinely wondered in my young mind, my parents or pastors or other church members would often say something along the lines of “because that’s God’s plan” or “you may understand when you are older” or just basically giving me the run around kind of implying that these questions I ask are unnecessary and to let it go. I have question everything tattooed on me and I am no longer Christian or religious for that matter and one of the many reasons for me losing faith was that sort of thing. Being made to feel like I was doing something wrong or “challenging God” for simply questioning things
@@cinnamoncigarettes I don't think it's wrong to question things especially if you're following along and believe too. Why not fully understand what you're doing?
Wait so you couldn't get into it and you watched other youtubers to read paradise lost? So How did you fully understood the meaning of the book if you didn't fully read the book yourself. It's a slight contradiction. I bet you made this to only praise wendigoon for his reading it which is fine but did you really need to make it very asinine?
Yeah... it *is* pretty funny to see the vastly different interpretations of the story between Christian & more secular readers. Like, can a Christian reader understand Satan's declaration of the god character's tyranny? Or are they just too primed to presuppose the justifications of heaven's righteousness.
@@happymate8943 hey, if you’re going to get on your high horse, could you, at the very least, check your comment for grammatical errors? That was just painful to read.
I’m someone who hates the idea of saying I’m an atheist but I do not believe anything cares about us and I seriously love Christian art including poetry and how it effects people. So beautiful how he is effected by love of maybe his mother. Maybe his partner. Love is beautiful!!! Love is a universal language and anyone who feels cringe at it is beyond me
Let me speak again. I really love anyone who loves god that’s awesome!! I’m not against any faith I just personally don’t have faith and believe it’s just us people with each other together. We should love one another because we are all imperfect and that’s ok that there nothing after death or no god or order. I know that sounds awful but I believe we are truly awesome we have this one life to live well. We are so lucky to be alive and love each other. I’m not a god person I’m just a person! Anyone reading this I have love for you! And no matter art is amazing and brings us to tears at moments! Let’s all come to tears of us we love!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a Paradise Regained video. The part of the story where Adam dropped Eve’s wreath gave me chills. As a believer this characterization and being able to put understandable, tangible feelings to the moment he saw her in sin is so enthralling. Also, this vid is #3 on trending right now! So happy for your success ❤️
Humanising the devil - there is so much literature that plays on this. The idea that the devil is not just pure disgust and evil, that he has a history. Really hope Wendigoon does more videos on such literature ❤
I had never heard the story of Adam and Eve told in this way and the realization of the love between them, being so strong that they sacrificed the garden of Eden for a shared death, broke my heart. I cried as you read Adam’s internal thoughts as he dropped the Garland he made for Eve, and at the words he chose to express his complete surprise at her actions. And how from the moment she ate the forbidden fruit, of course, his fate was sealed as well from the love that filled his heart for her. 💔 I never heard it this way, and never understood it more deeply than I do now. Thank you for making this video!
My God. Thinking about how pure Adam and Eve's love was, and then hearing that Adam looked at Eve with lust for the first time after eating the fruit... I'm actually heartbroken.
In the original Jewish Mesopotamian text adam had a first wife named lilith who was created the same way adam was created from dust. She later became a evil spirit because she did not like adam being in charged. She came back and took the form of a serpant to get adam and his new wife eve to eat the apple.
I'd totally watch wendigoon do a rundown of the entire Bible. I've watched this video 3 times already just cause it's so enjoyable and he makes religion actually kinda interesting. My parents are Jehovahs witnesses and I wasn't very into learning about religion when I was younger but after watching this and the divine comedy videos I want to learn more.
The thing I love about Windigoon is his ability to plainly explain books that I would never be able to understand otherwise and I really appreciate him for that. There’s so many books I would love to read, but I simply do not understand and Paradise Lost is one. I can’t understand the writing and what all these words mean, but he is able to break it down and into such simple terms that gives accessibility to people like me and I can’t thank him enough for that. 14:06
as an atheist that went to a catholic school and always had christianity all around me, i’ve got to say that your way of talking about biblical stories are the only times i’ve ever felt truly touched by them. I’ve heard them from nuns, priests, teachers and family members, but your admiration feels so sincere that it shoots tears into my eyes. i’m so happy your faith gives you comfort and delight.
I can only agree. I was raised Catholic, but distanced myself far from it once I was able to think independently about such things. Ten years ago I had the thought that maybe it would have been different if I was raised Protestant, since almost all of my criticisms have to do with the Catholic Church. Your videos got me thinking that maybe it would have been different if it had been other, more open-minded people teaching me. But what has happened, has happened. I am an agnostic now and like to listen to all faiths and mythologies - as long as they don't try to convert me.
The stories in the Bible have incredible depth. I don't trust organized religion, but I think personal faith can make life a much more meaningful experience.
i like how your one of the only people that makes hearing about christianity and religion enjoyable. I'm more of a spiritualist, but when breaking down these stories and not having the religious aspect be incredibly overbearing, it's very enjoyable to watch and listen to.
because hes not an overbearing judgemental boomer, obligating you to save your life. religion is just a personal relationship with God, and doesnt require people to rush you out of a burning building- you should desire it on your own. its not the threat of damnation, its the reality of living a life without love of a higher power.
@@FutureLaugh that’s why I hate the saying “I’m not trying to scare the hell out of you, I’m trying to scare you out of hell” Ah yes, I would definitely want people to become my friend because they were terrified of being tortured otherwise.
I’m late to comment but Wendi crying really got me. I wish more Christians and just general people of faith were like you man, humble and devoted to spreading a message of kindness and forgiveness above all else. Your story telling is incredible, and I can hear your passion and faith coming through so clear
