I was in desperate need of a plywood cart--just ask my wife about the heap of scrap wood in our garage! I wanted something super simple, cheap, and very fast to build.
This car accomplishes all of those objectives! The wood itself costs about $50 and the wheels were another $20. Many of you might have the plywood in your scrap pile (like I did) which means that you'll only need to drop $20 on some 2x4 lumber!
The entire build took me an hour and a half. Not bad for a project. The plans for this are essential to building the project quickly and are available at measuretwiceplans.com. They even come with a shopping list and how to optimize wood usage for minimal waste.

This is great, thanks. Most other carts on RU-vid seem to be massively over engineered, or waste tons of plywood on the support, when slats will work fine. This looks like a much better solution.

Great simple build, i bought the plans and made it about a foot longer and 4" or 5" wider on the full sheets side. I've been using it for about two months now, it feels very sturdy and comfortable to use. Plans are simple and easy to read.

@@mepro123... On the back of the cart, (straight or non angled side) in the video, you clearly add a fairly wide board across the long side of the cart, almost midway up. This is not shown in the picture of the cart, nor in the cut list? Seems like a piece is missing in the plans? You can see this very near the end of the video. I am getting ready to build this when I noticed.
@georgeburchett5798

could it be that you replaced that board with a 2 x 4 in the plans?

Building this today. Don't think I'll get done in 90 minutes, but definitely no more than 2 hours. Great build. Some of it was just figuring out measurements. Buying the plans probably would have cut off that last 30 minutes. How long did you make yours? I made mine a full 8', which is pretty big. But that's how long sheets are. Yours just looks shorter.
@mepro123
@mepro123 4 года назад
How'd the build go? If I remember correctly, mine is 4-ft.
@BrianHw1
@BrianHw1 4 года назад
It went great! If I were to do it again, I'd just make it 2-3" deeper. I can probably fit 5-6 1/2" sheets on it, but that should be enough. I can fit a bunch of partial boards on the back, too. Plywood sheets used to be such a pain to store and this has solved a huge problem. Thanks for the tutorial!

Quick question. How many pounds can this hold?
@mepro123
@mepro123 3 года назад
Not sure, but I've got mine LOADED and it still rolls around just fine. I think the biggest factor is going to be whatever the casters are rated for. Even if they're only 100# each, that's 400# total since the cart mostly distributes the weight.

@wm545

I agree with screws for stuff like this. Lots of tensile strength and makes it rigid as long as there is minimal shear load. Fastest way to do it and you can break it down when you are done or need to modify it.
@BrianHw1

Great, simple concept. Might use kreg screws for a lot of this, though.
