Damn dude, that's pretty sick! What do ppl expect? It's a 240,000 mile Porsche, isn't worth anything, might as well do something crazy like that to it!
I think it looks phenomenal in silver and black, optically in good nick, shame it cost him so much, but I think it's a sweet car and am looking forward to the next videos!
Because of the miles, it will be almost impossible to sell. I had a car with a new motor, transmission, and suspension, with 220k miles. ven though all moving parts were new, no one wanted the car, after hearing the miles.
I appreciate your honesty with this swap ... no 'sugar coating' about cost ... a refreshing change from some 'other' channels ... A couple of sales from 'the fleet' will hopefully cover the costs ... As for a LS1 in a 911 ... love it ... 'on wards & up wards' Hoovie ...
Doug always has a link in his videos asking for people to let him drive their car. I think an email to him would be a good idea. Then after he gives you the Doug score you would know if you have a good car or not
Would you let Tyler drive your car? The last time he drove someone else's pristine black Pontiac Firebird he drove it through an automated car wash... with brushes! I guess it gives an idea for a video, "how to ruin black paintwork in 2 minutes." lol
That's pretty bad, I agree. There are some devices out there that will convert the V8 signal to any signal necessary. Dakota and Abbot make boxes used in V8 Miatas; maybe Hoovie can use those.
I consider myself a Porsche purist and this is AWESOME! Wouldn’t do it to my own 911 but I’m so glad you’ve done it to yours! What a bad ass car this is... Cant wait to see some numbers.
No way, the 6bt has a super long block, no way it would fit in the bay. The LS is about the same size as a 4 cylinder miata engine, it's super compact. Also, the 6bt weighs about 1,100 lbs, about 3x heavier than the LS
+Hoovies Garage A renegade Porsche V8 is one of my dreams. I was super excited for this build. It was definitely disheartening to see how much hacking had to happen. All in, are you disappointed in the build? Could someone strengthen the rear panel you cut out with a crash bar under the rear bumper, or it there no room? Thanks for the entertainment, man.
Hi Hooves. Pretty wicked swap. Kinda thought of doing the same thing if/when my 2004 911 with X51 everything blows up AGAIN. Last time it had 20 thou mi and went boom. Porsche paid to rebuild it down to the last washer. Huge bucks. Now it has 65 thou mi, goes to 7000 in first gear in one second, and runs perfect up to 180. A fresh Porsche engine like that costs about the same as a new VW GTI. Yes the whole car! So your expenditures seem almost reasonable. Being familiar with more modern swaps, has anyone done a hotrod 2JZ (later Supra Turbo) swap into a 911? They never break. 400 to 600 hp is sort of normal on those. Lots are doing 700 plus hp. Will look at weight and length numbers before going any farther. Will watch this space, thanks. Good report.
That's so cool man. I laughed so hard when you talked about cutting a hole to access the oil pressure sender, that's sounds like something I would do in my Saab.
Great build! Love that v8 sound. My LS3 996 4S swap should be done around Oct 7. Dedicated track car and will post a video once complete. You can see the car on the track before it blew, user Mr Car Nut.
This car is grand because it points out what needs to be pointed out. Vettes and Porsches have been around so long, the crowds around them have become ritualistic... even religious. The original purpose of the Corvette and the 911 becomes forgotten in the shadow of the --CULT--. So Hoovie, thank you for reminding us of what these cars were originally intended for: to go fast and have fun doing so. Be proud! It's your flagship Hoovie, it's well earned. It suits you. And don't ever sell it!! Also, no emissions in Kansas?? Must be nice. :P My 37 year old car still has to pass smog in my state.
The wizard seemed to be doing a TON of custom work, I thought the renegade hybrid kit was much better documented and refined than that. Did the wizard contact renegade about the issues he was having or did he just plow through?
Ryukachoo he cut corners. This swap costs 30-50k I live in Vegas and have seen these swaps up close and personal at Renegade and know all the staff from Scott to Steve. His mechanic didn't do this right at all.
Yeah I thought the kit was easier than that, could also be the 'wrong' motor/specific car for the kit or other real oddities as well plus it's the kind of thing everyone is going to do differently in some ways. Honestly I wouldn't have bothered installing AC given its a performance car well that and I hate doing coolant and vacuum lines.
@@PatrickBateman88 I just laughed a little. You used "it's" correctly! Then you didn't. I've never seen that before. And, you are partially correct as well. Some, like Great Cornholio, would argue it's just not a REAL Porsche anymore when you remove the flat-six. I would tend to agree, since I am a semi-purist for some things Bavarian.
Very reasonable price for a turn-key swap, guys are paying that and more for a shop-swapped 5.3 into an old Chevy pickup. And I'm sure it's a blast to drive too.
carloselrey36 I have to agree! That earlier video with the LS screaming through the raw exhaust was awesome! You've gone this far, why muffle/hide everything about what You've achieved?? Unleash the roar of the beast!
This is the kind of swap you only do if you're doing all the labour really. It's still utterly gorgeous and LS swap all the things is still something to remember is cool.
The water cooled 911s had "integrated dry sumps", whatever those are Still didn't stop Hoovie from killing his old engine because of oil starvation on a track
Great job on the swap! I wish we could have seen more of the details though. I really enjoyed this venture you've done. I found myself living vicariously through your idiocy! Thanks for the trouble to give us this cool swap! Well done.
Hey Tyler, I was so much looking forward to this video and you didn't dissapoint. I will recommend your channel to a friend of mine. I wanted to write "to friends of mine" but I only have one friend who shares the same passion about car's than I do. But I bouht three of your "Hammer Time" -Shirts, because I have two friends that have a 190 Merc which are close to beeing an oldtimer. I will send you a picture of us an the car's as soon as we got the shirts. Good luck with your credit card and friendly greetings from Germany. :)
Natural Beauty because taking a Porsche to stupid power levels is just entertaining and an LS has more parts availability, is easier to make power with and honestly is cheaper and easier to fix than a Porsche engine. Plus you can put stupid things like nitrous kits on the LS by phoning and quoting a part number where the German car is probably going to be custom.
You are a true petrolhead if I've ever seen one. Please don't change a thing about your vids, if anything go into detail even more. Love your sense of humor too.
Good one and always good to see I’m in the process of converting a 928 with a 6.0 LS,and that’s with a Renagade conversion My car is a mint example, manual, but sadly it has to many electrical gremlins, hence the engine swap The 928’s all have electrical issues, and by far the LS engines are much more user friendly 😊
Def most underated channel on the tube!!!! I really don't get it.. Hoovies Garage is by far my favorite channel on here I've never missed a video.... Even tho I don't support RU-vid's merch next check im pulling the trigger
