From the PDF guide (link in description): In the source section to the right of “scenes”, click the plus button to add a new source. We are going to add a “Window Capture”. Name it something like “Game Capture” and click OK. You should see a new window pop up with some settings. For “Window” select [Remote Play.exe]: PS Remote Play. @@xxfxllenxx2335 it’s ok lol definitely get a capture card when you can though. This way of streaming isn’t that great, but can gets you started for sure.
In terms of the game audio, yes. I recommend Elgato’s capture cards, but I did a video comparing some cheaper alternatives: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Qdx4wwwk90.htmlsi=MLiXcMoIcvg9Yn9y Go Elgato if you can but if not, go Mirabox for a decent alternative.
This is the absolute gold I have been after. What a clear and informative video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've been at a total standstill with my PS5 streaming so I am VERY excited to get to use OBS!
Glad I could help! Once you get OBS set up and familiar, you should definitely pick up an Elgato later. The quality of the stream is much better with a capture card, but this is a good way to practice without dropping $150-$200 ya know 👍🏾
You lost me at adding "Sources" > "Display Capture". Im trying to set up from a Mac laptop with OBS to my PS5. The remote play was set up successfully and shows on my laptop screen but the display capture source aint capturing my display, lol. SOS
Lol no worries! You’re gonna wanna check out the Mac version of this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bd6-dY3KPkg.htmlsi=AZc-eHU2HcGZ1BWK On Mac you’re gonna use the MacOS Screen Capture source, change the Method to Window and find your Remote Play window in the drop down box. Add that and fit to screen. Check out the video and the free PDF Guide if you get stuck 🙏🏾
You can use a controller, if you use a dummy ps5 account to log of with remote play, then turn on the controller and select your account and it will not switch off remote play
@@DatSamurai you only need one! You use the computers app as your second controller as a secondary burner account- and just use it for a screen- log into the playstation with your controller in your nornal account and remote play wont stop
That’s interesting 🤔 in that case, you can just play on your TV/Monitor like normal then since the PS5 still pushes an HDMI signal while in remote play. Pretty clutch work around. Thanks!🙏🏾
Wow legit been oh RU-vid for 6 hrs trying to figure out how to do this without a capture card until I get one next week. Thank you this helped. For me OBS didn’t work so I use stream lab on my Mac m1. Thanks again 👍👍 definitely subbed
So when I click display it says I only got the primary monitor and I did what your pdf said to do and it didn’t add the ps remote play to a display still
Yeah I’m not sure people understand that this method is not like perfect streaming or something. It all depends on your internet speeds, if you are on wifi or Ethernet, etc. If you want excellent almost worry free streaming, just get an Elgato and your straight. Or do this until you’re ready to get an Elgato.
Just as an alternative, not sure if it still works with the PS5 but I used it with the PS4. But if you want to play directly on the PS5 rather than the PC, but still want to record, you should be able to link up your Remote Play using Account A, then play on the PS5 with Account B. Since they are different accounts, as long as you don't log out of Account A you should be fine to run it.
Window capture instead of display capture works way better. You can capture the audio of the window by checking the "capture Audio BETA" box. This also eliminates people seeing everything else your opening on the PC.
Why use display capture? Then you won't be able to do things on you PC/laptop? I use the remote play on Xbox and just use game capture in OBS and the audio is captured .
Good video datsamurai. Good stuff. But my display does not show that option. For some reason I only see one option. The only option I have is the infinite background one. Like in this video. 3:20 what am I doing wrong?
Yo this is CLUTCH! I haven't streamed in maybe over 4 years and decided to try to get back into it. Found my old HD60 S, tried to do all the HDMI's and BS trying to set it up on Elgato but I just couldn't get it just right. I would've never thought of using PS Remote play, shit I didn't even know you could download it on PC LOL. Arigato bro!

Hey man, thanks for this video! Got a question about the controller connection. Ive been seeing on other videos that theres major input latency issues when streaming ps5 through pc. Is this something thats corrected simply by connectiing through pc and not the console? Didnt look like there was that issue in your video.
Hey glad to help! In my experience, I experience the same lag as you normally would playing natively on console (12ms). I think it comes down to your internet connect. In my testing, my PC and console are both on ethernet in the same room. Also I have gigabit speeds with Verizon and only 1 other person using the wifi at a time. So my conditions are perfect. If you're experiencing lag, you can try the dummy controller method by connecting a controller from a different profile to your console and that won't end the remote play session. But I'm not sure how it works exactly but others suggest this. Hope this helps!
@DatSamurai yoooo first of all i really thank you for sharing this with us. But do you maybe know why the quality of my gameplay (not while im in lobby) is so poorly on my screen (on streaming platforms its looking clean). Is there like any options to change that??
The resolution is actually 720P through remote play. You should play the game on your TV/Monitor. You can still play the game like normal and if you have good internet, it should be 1 to 1 with the remote play on your computer so no controller lag.
I have a question so I have a hd60s+ and it's not connecting to stream labs or obs just a black screen. Is it because I'm using my hdmi 2.1 cord that came with my ps5? Since the hdmi 2.0 had come with it when I was streaming off the Xbox one s... was just wondering. Thank you so much and have a great day!
No the black screen could be a few things. Make sure you connected the HDMIs into the right ports. (PS5 to In part, monitor/TV to out port.) Then restart OBS or Streamlabs and try to add it again. Make sure you also have the Elgato plugged into your computer you’re streaming from.
I've recently been streaming to RU-vid from ps5 and I wanted to broaden my reach. You do a great job explaining and showing what is required to do so. I have a very old capture card that probably doesn't work anymore. So being able to stream without one is a must right now for me. Thanks for all you have created and shown to stream noobs like myself!!! If you would like to join us sometime and have some fun, feel free to reach out and we'll have you on!
thank you! question though...I have a wired headset and before all this i connect my headset to the ps5 controller and using a yeti for mic connected to ps5. but with this set up, do i plug in the headset and the mic to the pc? How i do talk to my teammates in game though?
Can I still use my controler on PS5 not in PC ? How to do it? I want to play on PS5 but stream the screen to TikTok, playing on PC has a bit lag and delay,
No if you connect the controller to the PS5, it ends remote play. You should definitely just get a capture since you know you want to stream to TikTok. Here’s a video I did comparing different cards and prices (I recommend an Elgato or the Mirabox): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Qdx4wwwk90.htmlsi=NG8SrVptC6KzYY3c
Can someone please freaking tell me how to get my camera to work on twitch without obs bc obs isn’t working for me I’ve done everything and it seems no one can figure it out
the video was supper helpful but when i went and checked my stream during the quality as so bad ): i checked in the ps remote play app and it goes max 720 without the hdr but i dont know how to set up the hdr and dont know if i can , any tips?
No worries! Yeah the quality relies heavily on your internet connection. Are you able to get a capture card at all? I made a video comparing some at various price points here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Qdx4wwwk90.htmlsi=TjTwZeIND5_bihjF
@HarlinTutoriales you can minimize delay by using Ethernet for both your PC and PS5. Or you can get better wifi speeds from your provider. The delay will always be there though, just not as much with better connections.
Sometimes it’s surprisingly good and other times it struggles. Just get a capture card. This method to stream isn’t a permanent setup. It’s just to help those who want to try streaming with professional tools.
Yo! Check out this video:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bd6-dY3KPkg.html It's a different process for MacOS. In this video, I show exactly how to do it on Mac. Hope it helps!
So you want at least double the bitrate you're streaming at in upload speeds. For example: if you're bitrate is 6000kpbs (Full HD) you want to have at least 12mbps upload speeds. That's your basic 100mbps internet plan here in the US. I personal have Gigabit speeds so I can do 4K streaming 👍🏾
Right. You can connect the controller via Bluetooth, but the Remote Play app can only see the controller when it’s connected with wire. Doesn’t make sense, but that’s PlayStation for ya.
Which controller are you connection (PS4 or 5)? Are they updated? And is your PC updated as well? You can check out some system requirements and more instructions on how to connect on the remote play site: www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/pair-dualsense-controller-bluetooth/
It’s not a perfect solution to stream like this, but it’s a good way to try it if you don’t know if you like streaming. Miles will vary. In your case, I’d just get a capture card and go all in. Check out this video where I compare different price points and quality: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Qdx4wwwk90.htmlsi=FtF7tEGIYfeNiIBh
@krissydiggs awesome! Doing it this way might leave you playing the game inside of OBS which isn’t ideal. You can get an HDMI splitter to you can still play it on your TV/Monitor. But at that point you’re close to spending $30-$40. Might as well get a Mirabox for better quality for the same price. But up to you! Here’s links for your convenience HDMI splitter: amzn.to/3Sa6UCO Mirabox: amzn.to/3WFTLC2 Elgato HD60 X (Just in case): amzn.to/3hEW0XO
You can change the quality of the remote play in the setting. Also check out the bitrate you are streaming at. The higher the bitrate, the better the stream quality. I recommend 4000-6000kbps for a crisp 1080p stream.
You should grab the PDF guide I made. If you are using 1 monitor, you got to change “Capture Method” to “Windows 10 (1903 and up). You can get the guide here: bit.ly/PS5-OBS-PDF
after singing in with remote play, I can use the controller on the PS5, I even created the dummy account but can figure out how to use the other controller to play PS5, it keeping logging off the remote play controller..... i just bought a capture card on Amazon because of this problem, ANY POINTERS??
You already got a capture card so you don’t have to do this anymore lol. Trust me, this is just for people who don’t know if they like streaming enough to get a card. It’s not a reliable way to stream.
No, I don't have the card yet, it's being shipped, but the controller doesn't work after using remote play, it only works on the computer I plugged it into
@chrisb5516 oh you just need to re- pair it to your ps5 again. Make sure your controller is off and plug it into your PS5. Turn on your PS5 and then press the PlayStation button on the controller. It should pair back to the PS5, then you can unplug the controller.
How about in game mic audio.. say for eg, in Rocket league we have in game chat.. its not coming when I connect it to my ps remote play in PC.. should I need to change anything else??
OBS can run on a Linux OS which you can activate in your Chromebook developer settings. But it seems like it doesn’t actually run the app when downloaded. Take a look at this forum and see if you can follow the steps one guy laid out. obsproject.com/forum/threads/installing-obs-on-new-chromebook.157025/
You mean your PS5 controller? Make sure it’s updated and your computer is updated. You can also check out the troubleshooting page from PlayStation: www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/pair-dualsense-controller-bluetooth/
decided to give this a try. It works, but I ran into some issues. The controller seems laggy or the inputs start acting buggy when Im playing games on the PS5. I'm playing GranBlue Relink. I move my character then go to attack and the character either just stands there or keeps moving even if I stopped touching the joystick??
Your quality will vary greatly if you're using wifi or you have slow internet speeds. The button lag will definitely happen if your internet is slow or being used by a lot of people at once, etc. Try making sure your PS5 is using ethernet. You could always get a capture card too as the best solution.
@@DatSamurai Most def will be using a capture card. I tested my internet connections and it's hitting pretty damn high. Problem with ethernet is that the box is on the first floor and my gaming/office room is on the second so I might be SOL on that front :/
@MonroesArtStudio If you can, try contacting your service provider and ask if they can route a wire through the wall down to your router. Verizon did that for me when they set me up, (my office is on the second floor of my house).
Can you use your PS5 with Ethernet rather than WiFi? If it is, it’s just lag. There’a no real fix other than get faster internet and make sure no one else is power using at the same time. Just is what it is.
Argh, not going to work for me, I'm trying to remote play with a T150 wheel for GT7 so it obviously has to be connected to the PS5. Why can't Sony just allow us to have a "Remote View" feature specifically for helping streamers?
Saw some comments on this about connecting using the "connect audio beta" version on the display capture in OBS. Personally i had issues with going this route. I tried tons of different ways to connect audio but every way (other than what was presented in this video of connecting it using audio output from your headphones) didnt work for me. I had terrible audio quality on replay of recording using these other methods. Spent days trying to resolve and finally was able to thanks to this video. Figured i'd add a response in case anyone else has the same issues i was running into.
With this do i have to play on the PC? im playing on PS5, but currently playing with pc players so were using discord. My problem is that the stream cannot hear the party chat when on discord. Is this a solution for that?
@@DatSamurai ok so im gonna explain how my setup is. PS5 playing on the TV. I use a laptop where i have my stream open and answer ppl. The fee who is watching 😅 So with OBS on the laptop i can connevt to dicord on my phone and people will hear my friends talking on discord?
This is incredibly helpful. I just started streaming and a ton of my modern games are on console and i couldn't figure out how to get PS5 and OBS to play nice.
Am I the only one who doesn't have another option when adding the source to display... it only shows me one option (primary monitor) even though I have multiple windows open... I don't know what I'm doing wrong : /
Seems like you’re only using one monitor to do this. Do this instead: In the source section to the right of “scenes”, click the plus button to add a new source. We are going to add a “Window Capture”. Name it something like “Game Capture” and click OK. You should see a new window pop up with some settings. For “Window” select [Remote Play.exe]: PS Remote Play. NOTE: You might see a black screen in the preview when you select this. Change “Capture Method” from “Automatic” to “Windows 10 (1903 and up)”. Mines say Windows 10 but it might say 11 if you are running Windows 11. This should make the capture pop up.
@@DatSamurai I looked up another video and I had to do it a different way but it’s all good. To be honest I tested it and I get lags on this game I play. My character gets stuck and don’t really move at all due to connection when my router is in the living room. I got a 940-980 Gigabit plan with Verizon Fios and I’m hard wired on both my ps5 and my laptop. I wonder if there is a way for my laptop to be able to pull more connection that it needs for it to be able to not lag through remote play.
@@NocSlays It's all good. I have the same verizon plan and set up but my router is right next to my PS5 and PC lol. You should just get a capture card. Saves all the headache from this set up. I made a video comparing different price points and qualities. Hope it helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Qdx4wwwk90.html
Nope you can use wired headphones just fine. Just select whatever your computer labels your headphones as. It differs a lot what people computers call their headphones when plugged in.
Thank you soo much! This was super easy to follow and I was able to do my first stream! But it kept glitching every 5 seconds, do I need a separate internet box or something?
So what you have to connect a controller to the computer? And then an ethernet cable to the computer? What about the PS5? What network does that get connected to for internet?
Yep you connect the controller to the computer. Everything can be on Wifi but for better quality, ethernet is best. It doesn't matter which network, just as long as you have internet on both devices (PC and PS5).
@@DatSamurai surely that creates some level of lag for competitive online gaming. The quality difference was significant, it looks like it would have reduced it to less than 1080.
does this capture game chat audio as well? like i’m playing with my friends that are on different platforms and we are using game chat will it capture that as well?
It uses your controller’s mic for game chat during remote play. If you have the PS5 headphones tho, you can select the mic output to be the PS5 headphones in the mic settings.
hey, everything was going smoothly however when I tried Display Capture on OBS, PS Remote Play's window doesn't get detected. Even tried Game Capture but PS Remote Play suddenly just shuts down. What to do?
Understandable for sure! Like I said in the video, it all depends on your internet speeds and connection. I get really good 1080p quality from my Remote Play, but I have the best situation. Gigabit speeds, Ethernet connection to my PS5 and PC, and a mid tier graphics card (3060TI). You might be better off just getting a capture card.
@@DatSamurai ye I litterly wanna only stream thru discord but that means I gotta play thru the remote app play I don’t wanna I ain’t really a streamer I do from time to time but no viewers no money so like for me personally no point investing in a capture card for me but it’s a good video nonetheless
I’m using a capture card that doesn’t capture my webcam when I stream ps5 but it doesn’t capture on my pc? Any reason for that ? Is my capture card too shitty ?
2:04 whats crazy is how none of the youtubers talk about how to stop the PS5 controller from disconnecting. Bro doesn’t even go into it he just says shove the usb directly into the 5 controller but what else??? I’m still having the problem lmaooooo
Yo! So I’m pretty sure we don’t mention the troubleshooting with the controller is because it just works for the most part. I don’t experience disconnections so it’s a hard thing to solve for. Usually it’s because your system doesn’t support the controller. Here’s a few resources to help you out with your specific problem: www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/pair-dualsense-controller-bluetooth/ From the PlayStation website: “Windows PC devices support the controller via a wired connection. Depending on the device, certain features on the controller might not be available. There’s no guarantee that all devices are compatible with the controller.” Hope this helps. Try connecting via Bluetooth and see if that works. Let me know if you need more help ✌🏾
