Fun fact: Rooks used to be chariots, but since they were not used in medieval europe and were difficult to produce, towers caught on! Even the word "rook" is actually Persian for "chariot"

The pawn hitbox bugfix was a reference to the en passant rule which is regularly reported as a bug on chess sites because it's confusing for new players. Just throwing that out there.

Is the "Test" meme about Maharadjha chess? It's a chess variation, in which one king faces off an army by himself, but the king is allowed the movements of all chess pieces combined. He wins, if he can take all enemy chess pieces.

Fun fact for the last meme: The rook (castle if ur a pleb) isn't actually a castle. They represent chariots (rook comes from the word rukh), some chariots used to have armour designed to look like fortified stone walls which is why they are shaped as castles on the board.

Chess was originated from India In our country tke king is called "RAJA" Meaning king. The queen is called "Mahaamantri "meaning prime minister Bishops are called " Oont"(camel) or mantri (minister) . Horse are called "Rath" Meaning chariot . The pillars are called "Haathi" (Elephant) and the pawns "Sainik" (Soilders)
