When Mae was trying to attack Torbin all I could think was the scene in Liar liar when Jim Carey is in the bathroom and is asked what he's doing and screams "I'm kicking my ass!"
accidental fire that killed their entire family causes by one of the sisters that left resentment between them and put them on either side of a conflict? welcome back Vi and Jinx
Started off strong in ep 1, then hit another gear of greatness in ep 2. Sol is already one of my favorite Jedi ever, and I really, REALLY like that they are showing Yord to be more like a prequel era Jedi. Like he’s kind of a forerunner of that here: a bit vain, arrogant, maybe corruptible. Quick to draw his lightsaber and prepare for violence, etc. So far, I LOVE this.
Really tells the difference between two different era Jedi: High Republic: Peacekeeping Jedi who don’t involve in violence and let the Force guide them through their actions Prequel Jedi: Jedi who blindly follow their Code, act in aggressive mannerisms and slightly strip themselves of their passion
I don't think corruptible fits here. He seems more like a "play everything exactly by the rules" kind of guy. A little bit like Mace Windu sometimes comes off. One of his big lines when he initially confronted Osha was literally "It doesn't matter what I think". And the way he was going on and on about not giving Osha the stun gun because she isn't a Jedi. And besides that, he might be a little trigger-happy sometimes, but he doesn't seem like someone who would fall off the way.
I get the feeling that in this time period there are mini Jedi temples scattered throughout the Universe and when we see it for the first time in Episode 1 there is only one on Coruscant.
High republic Book reader here🙋🏻♀️ there are in fact loads of temples on other planets with Jedi stationed there. And the central sort of “main hub” is the temple on Corscant
The same is true all the way up to the clone wars, we just don't really see it. Savage Opress captures one of these local temples to become Dooku's apprentice
By the time this show takes place, they've started to become more insular and a century later, practically all of the local temples have been abandoned. The novel "Star Wars: The Living Force" as Qui-gon and Obi Wan in the process of closing down one such temple.
The way I understand it, there are a lot of smaller outpost temples scattered around the galaxy (don't one or two of those even show up in Rebels?), while the main center/head of their operations is the temple on Corousant, which is the same one from the Prequels & Clone Wars era.
I just love the fact the story so far points to some kind of miscalculation by the Jedi which killed Osha and Mae’s family, and then a subsequent cover-up where each girl was told the other died. This points to a Jedi order that, if not fully corrupt, then is kind of politically motivated rather than doing what is considered right. Whatever the situation turns out to be, it makes for a fascinating set-up. I also like the combat more resembles old Kung-Fu Films than sword fights.
My current theory is that the Sith we saw, is the one who set up the fire and framed May. At the same time, he told her her sister died(and probably that the Jedi were responsible) and then trained her
I dont think the jedi weren't responsible for that, cuz in episode 2 theres a jedi who felt guilty about what happened that night, they have to be at least partially responsible for what happened
I think they defeated Mae during the fire, but decided she was too dangerous to live. So, their only course of action was to execute an unarmed Mae. Andara says Jedi don't attack unarmed assailants, and Mae says yes you do. Anyway, I think those 4 Jedi covered up what they (thought they) did knowing they'd be kicked out of the order. It's like when Mace tried to execute Palps instead of imprisoning him. Also, what if the Jedi actually started the fire to cover up what they did. Made it all look like an accident.
@scooterjones303 we still don't know. And, before you tell me to watch episode 3, I did. We learned nothing. The whole episode is from Osha's perspective. We don't know how they died. We only saw their lifeless bodies on the ground. They weren't burned. There was no debris. The only other clue we get is screaming earlier.
There are a lot of reactors that are saying they’re showing the Jedi to be corruptible But when you think about it, the idea that they were completely disregarding what Anakin was going through with Amidala is what led to the emperor being able to control him so easily Even Yoda, who gave the great advice, don’t have any attachments after he was already hopelessly in love with her It might not be the Jedi or evil, but it may certainly be that they are completely out of touch with the way normal people live their lives
The only thing that i didnt really like was the reveal of the whole "they're twins" happened so fast. Like as soon as osha showed up i knew if was either going to be twins or DID. I feel like showing the story of osha as a fugitive and mae as an assasin would have lengthened the tension and mystery of "is it actually osha? Whats really happening?" I look forward to seeing where this show goes as i did enjoy it. But right now it just felt like the whole "who is the bad guy?" question was resolved way too fast
I'm wondering if the four Jedi made some sort of mistake that led to the fire which separated Osha and Mae, and they both thought they were the only survivors of the fire. Mae grew up blaming the Jedi and now is killing them one-by-one, while Osha grew up blaming Mae. I don't think the Jedi could have done something blatantly evil, but I wouldn't be surprised if they covered up a mistake. That helps build up to this idea from the prequels of the Jedi not always being right and becoming their own worse enemy.
My guess is that the 4 Jedi on that planet became aware of identical twins who were Force Sensitive and wondered what would happen if one were trained as a Jedi and one was not, and set up the fire and told each twin that the other one had started the fire but had perished. Some kind of wild, wacky, Jedi version of My Fair Lady.
I really enjoyed the first two episodes. The story being a mystery is a definite plus and it looks as if there are many layers waiting to be revealed. Sol is my favorite character, and when I get attached that usually means something terrible's going to happen. This time, I hope I'm wrong.
Have a strong feeling, based on your discussion, that Mae isn't the one who started the fire. Or if she did, it was an accident. Not sure yet where the Jedi fit into all of this, but I assume we'll find out.
Sith apprentices don't go to some planet to find Kyber crystals like Jedi do. They need to kill a Jedi Master with their own hands and take the slain Master's lightsaber for themselves. That's what Palpatine had Vader do in the comics, even though he had an abundance of lightsabers from Order 66. I think this is what Mae is trying to do here. Goad a Jedi Master to attack her with full force, fight the Master with her bare hands, take the lightsaber and kill the Master with it. If she can achieve it, she would fulfill one of the key criteria to becoming a Sith apprentice. That doesn't necessarily mean her master is a Sith Master. Sith apprentices can also take their own students in secret, just not as true Sith in order to uphold the Rule of Two. If the apprentice defeats the master, the acolyte would then officially become the new Sith apprentice. If the master defeats and kills the apprentice, it may then consider the acolyte as a potential replacement candidate.
Came in with low expectations but so far have been pleasantly surprised. Fight scenes have been on point. Liking the speed. Sol has been a stand out. What a great cast. U can feel that he's carrying weight. Amandla is doing an awesome job playing two characters. I'm buying into it
This show ist great, so hooked on the mystery. cant wait for the reveals, the jedi must have done something otherwise the meditating jedi wouldnt have comitted suicide so intriguing
Mae is the Acolyte The Apothecary Guy is the Sith its him Mae doesn't know identity of Master its him did you see how fast he moved when Mae tried to attack him Sol is tremendous gives me Qui Gon vibes
Sol is the best character, a mix of Qui Gon and Obi Wan. Can not wait to see more of Indara in flashbacks. 😻Sol and Indara are the only reasons for me to watch this show😀 Greetings from Germany
Episode 1 and 2 are solid so far! I honestly feel bad for the people hating this just because they can't get their head out of their Antisjw bums. Because this show is great.
@@RoboBoomStick Ooh changing the narrative. Where's the proof that she was heavily involved in doing terrible things when she's only an assistant under Miramax for a year?
@@RoboBoomStick You don't know anything about being a PA. They're grunts that have to put up and shut up and they can get sued to oblivion with their menial wages if they break NDA.
@@RoboBoomStick Moral high ground? On what ground? Because you still haven't provide any proof to back your claim. There's nothing moral about accusing people without any proof to begin with. What you're doing here is no different than people accusing Johnny Depp being abusive to Amber Heard. lmao
Indeeed for the most part talked here 🙂 I'll rewatch tomorrow and maybe get back again with some things. 4x years non stop Disney+ sub here 😛 Composer did very nice work & i look forward to hearing more of his talent as season goes on 🙂 Lee Jung's dedication for the role is pure goodiness. Learned more English for the role & the way he speaks at certain situations is a la Bueno 🙂 Jord is nice character & slight smile that Jecki gave to Osha when in Jedi Ship was nice 🙂 Gonna restream first two episodes before third arrives on next week. Doing it via "65 Led Telly to wind-down at evenings 🙂 I wish you good relax time via D+ when stream The Acolyte S01 & further 🙂
Love this guy. He’s the GOAT of reactions. I’m kinda suspicious of York or maybe he’s just a jerk. I’m in with this series. JJ s performance as Sol is great.
How nice it is to run across a channel where it's not endless comments calling everything "woke" and just crapping on things for no legitimate reasons.
Imma tell everyone here. I heard the music and sounds of both episodes. If you ever played Knights of the Old Republic it sound very similar. Qimir the one who says Peace is a lie is part of the Sith Code.. Sith Code first came from 2004 Knights of the old republic games (KOTOR) Qimir brings up not wanting to be Mind Wiped, Same thing happens in the game to Revan. I think Qimir is the Sith and i think Revan might be brought up.
The name "Mae" can also come from the Hebrew name Mary, which can mean anything from "sea of bitterness" and "drop of the sea" to "beloved" and "rebellious."
I think I am going to like this one than obi wan kenobi. This looks so good! The only thing is that Carrie Anne Moss died. What a sad beginning of the season.
We aren’t even looking for the Master whoever the Acolyte is working for is the apprentice. It goes Master, Apprentice, and then Acolyte. The apprentice needs to get an acolyte so they can ascend to be the master making the acolyte then apprentice.
I agree that they moved on from Qimir too quickly. This and the Jedi putting Osha (accused of killing a Jedi) on a standard prisoner transport are the only plot contrivances I am struggling with so far.
👩🏾💻👩🏾💻 I said the same thing about the statement on political rivals, Jedi shouldn't be involved in politics! In my opinion that's the reason the order fell in the 1st place. I don't know if you've read any of the old SW books but one of the things I loved was when the Senate tried to interfere with Master Lukes Order he was like hell No and left the planet. You either are politicians or you're for the people it can't be both if you're a Jedi (at least that's what I've learned in my 30+ years of being a SW fan). About the show, I'm very intrigued. However I can't lie, when ever I look at her all I see is "Rue"😊😊 Oh and Omn1 it's not crazy shit your thinking that's the fun in new SW shows, the guessing 🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️
I keep thinking this is not simply an evil twin thing, because master sol seemed to emphasize that we should never trust our eyes in the lesson with the younglings. Who knows 😅
I'm guessing that the master is one of the mothers of the twins. And she is a very powerful force user. Possibly former Jedi. I don't think the Jedi are the good guys in this series. Not really full evil but just arrogant and blinded by their dogma.
I'm so disappointed with geekdom that not one reactor has sung "watch out watch out, Spaceballs" when the crazy prisoner jumps into the last escape pod.
I thought the first two episodes were really good. Had a few minor pacing and dialogue issues but hey lol, it's Star Wars. My understanding is that episode 3 has some lgbtqia themes and that's what people are losing their minds about but idk that stuff just doesn't bother me. Losing Trinity so early was a massive subversion that I ended up appreciating once the disappointment wore off lol
I don’t think any show that honestly represents the Jedi would have them intentionally start the fire. Them making a mistake of some kind? Very possible, we’ll have to see
I dont think the sith is a master, not yet i think thats the apprentice, finding their own secret apprentice from among acolytes sp they can take down thwir master and BECOME the master ala the rule of 2. Mask guy could potentially be plagueius or plageius master
I enjoyed these 1st 2 episodes but reviewers are giving it bad reviews and they've seen 4 episodes. I've heard the next episode is a bit of a lightning rod so we'll see if ths show can continue being great or follows nearly every other star wars show that starts strong and ends terribly.
The Jedi sensed the dark side in Mae, thought they took her out via the fire they started, brought in Osha to train, and told her Mae started the fire. The Jedi cover up their assassination of Mae who seeks revenge on the Jedi for killing her family.
Yeah, I didn't pick on her not being in a show at all from the trailer lol. Carrie-Anne Moss was like 80% of the reason why I wanted to watch this show.
This is seeming like another case of the original Captain Marvel. The movie was fine but Brie Larson out there saying it was not for 40 year old white men ruined it for people. This may be the same thing. A good story but tainted by the opinions of the showrunner and some stars. Just listening to other reactors I thought that she simply killed a jedi with a knife. The context was much different. Glad I watched your reaction.
I felt a heavy wave of disappointment. Watching these two episodes. I felt like Andor handle their time. With much more care than this new high Republic era, and also the actions of the Jedi order really don’t match the Jedi order. in the prequels, kind of giving me an understanding that they are still super blinded somehow even in their republic era.
Does not feel like Star Wars. The Galaxy is a failing Republic that breeds tension. At the end of clone wars i felt that there were stakes involved when i saw the clone troopers mobilizing. Once again the Jedi are the center of that major conflict. This is no galactic scare
In what world would they pay someone that actively loathes the sequels and isn't shy about it or their business practices. That said, I just don't mindlessly hate shit. I'm not that miserable. I judge each piece on its own and while I liked this quite a bit I still called out the awful dialogue in the first episode. Outside of Star Wars, I'm not shy about my dislike of their soulless live action remakes. And Marvel has been mid as hell lately aside from a few things. If I like something, I like it. If I don't, I don't. Is that so hard to understand?
@@Knightowl1980 I don't think you even know the meaning of redundant here. lmao Is this what you called artistic opinion? Because your argument is nothing but vague and superficial at best. What a garbage take. Don't use the word artistic if you don't actually know what it means.
