#theacolyte #disneystarwars #disneyplus #starwars In today's video I break down and review the full episode 6 from Disney Plus Star Wars 'The Acolyte.' Enjoy. I suffered for your entertainment.
I actually knew a couple of identical twins once. I had no problem telling them apart. Nobody did. The had different personalities, spoke differently and they even looked slightly different.
@@willoutridge6998 In Parent Trap both the original and the sequel... it's actually something that took considerable effort to pull off. The twins in the original spent weeks at summer camp learning to imitate each other. But, also... were trying to deceive parents who didn't really know the other as a person. Then in the sequel Hayley Mills plays the same characters as adults who are also mothers now. Well, one of the twins is able to trick the other's husband for a few minutes... but only because he doesn't have his glasses on. When he puts his glasses on, he immediately notices. But this is a man who has met both of the twins and known them for years. But it took extraordinary effort to trick him for a few minutes.
The Acolyte is rotting your brain. He showed up to the fight on his own volition. The Jedi were looking for the Wookiee not him. They would have blamed Mae if he had left. As far as his Sith speech, that word salad needed some French dressing.
"the ballsackolyte".. fuck me that got a loud enough belly laugh to have my dogs go on full alert ! haha.. comedy gold and i thankyou for the dopamine hit :-)
@@Stark-Cinema Why do you keep reviewing this if you already biased? Sorry but if you're not gonna review in good faith then stop. This is clearly meant for teen girls who like BTS. Qimir is cute and Osha and Mae are the POV characters for girls to put themselves into... like Bella Swan
@@Stark-CinemaGreat episode, I can't wait for the 7th flashback episode where we will learn what happened from the point of view of the Jedi 16 years ago. As for the plot, it was a good setup for the last two final episodes. The unnamed planet where Kimir was, in my opinion, may be the one used in the book by Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis because of the mines on Cortosis, as we had, I can see in the episode that there was a vein of this metal on the wall. And that shot from inside the helmet reminded me that stormtroopers can barely see anything through their helmets. And with this helmet of his from Cordosis, it is also not good to see something similar to when the younglings are training, Luke trained Obi-Wan / Sabine trained Ahsoka / Rey then with the help of the Jedi scroll taught Leia from which she also learned force heal. So that the given individual concentrates mainly on strength and senses.
@@suzygirl1843I’m bot biased. I tune in each weak to give it a chance. And listen to me closely. I give the show props when they drop good lines here and there. Also please listen to the end of my video.
Also, Amandla comes to the set in her gym clothes, and Lesley probably thought it was a good idea to use them for the shoot. Plus, it’s obvious saving on costume for a 180 mil production.
I like the actors who play Sol & Qimir. They are trying to take the scaps of horrid dialog and do the best they can. The idea of a Sith finding and training their acolyte is interesting, but unfortunately, that is not what we're getting in this show. Great video. MTFBWY
I agree they gave Qimir some empty platitudes they read somewhere and thought they were being deep & he delivered them perfectly, but they are still empty words in this show
It's really amazing how bad this show is in every conceivable way. $180M for 8 30min episodes of this? This is just a textbook failed project, I'm SURE Disney expected a much longer run time, but had to just go with this when the budget got out of control. The theme and story suck. The writing REALLY sucks. The dialogue sucks. The acting sucks, probably because the directing sucks. I'm pretty sure that the majority of people on earth, regardless of profession, if given $180M could produce far better entertainment from scratch, based on virtually any random idea that came to mind. The fact that these people claim to be professionals, and are served up an already preexisting lore, come up with THIS?!?! CRIMINAL.
this is my main annoyance with the show. we, as consumers deserve more than > 30-minute shows. most of these shows should be in 1... but NOOoOo. it would be better if released all at once.
5:27 when you said "she takes the wheel, does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" and then it cut to that horrible shot of her sitting completely still staring at the greenscreen i nearly died, that was so unintentionally hilarious on disney's part
@46.41 Disparu pointed out that this line/voice over has been added at a later date. Probably last week due to all the backlash the jedi were getting for not giving a crap about the fallen Jedi 😂
We all do. I'd love to see the viewership stats for the show and compare them with most RU-vid's channel putting out videos on the series, even small channels probably get views amount that can compete with the series itself!
ive noticed barely anything from her. The difference she portrays is literally just in how each of them walks. that's all I've noticed. mae can have a more sinister look and that's it. i did see someone mention a theory about how they were supposed to be made into one... unfortunately i think some people are trying to make sense out of something the writers didn't even intend.
I think it was SnakryJay that pointed out the "prep these bodies for burial" looked and sounded like it was edited in later (probably after they realized how callously they handled the aftermath of the fight up to this point) which why it is said as she is walking away, like they just used that shot to shove it in there.
I'm dying thinking how no one is even mentioning how convenient it is for both sisters to have grown to be in the exact same body shape after all these years appart...one small tattoo and different hair length is all they got as distinctive signs after 14 years of separation? come on...
Yeah, the story sucks, the characters sucks, the message really sucks, but we have abs ... so you will watch us, right ? RIGHT ? Worked for Riverdale. 😂
did with Leia... I mean the amount of corn spin offs prove it. sorry Darth biceps is hot. but no, the writing is shit.. so in the meantime ill enjoy the eye candy.
@@suzygirl1843also teen girlies are the lowest percentage of the actual reported demographic watching this show. It’s mostly middle aged folk 24-48 according to reports and according to RU-vid audience stats for videos on the subject
But the way it's written it's meant for the consumption of little girls. You're not little or a girl. So stop crying. This is definitely feeding into my Asian male fetish
it would make more sense to have not put anything... boom, then we know it's an unknown planet that has some sort of healing ability (why Darth Biceps gets in it and full-on naked) and why we see cortosis in the cave. but the show writers assume the audience is stupid, hence the horrid dialogue.
@@nah7656 exactly. Just don't put a title and then it's unknown to the audience whilst we know it is a planet that at least one person (Qymir) knows of lol 😁
@@sparkycjs Mae seems to kind of know though bc they met on that planet at the end of the first episode if I'm correct? unless qimir took her there and then dressed quickly as smilo ren... which.. would be even more silly. and also mae not knowing or even guessing that he was her master was a lil silly too. gosh, this show had potential, and has some good moments, but the execution is so poor.
Why, in this show, is it always a choice between killing, or doing nothing? Why is incapacitating completely off the radar for all these characters? Chop his hands off, like Count Dooku! Or wack off his arms and legs, like Anakin!
Gotta love how Leslye Headland named Vernestra's padawan guy "Mog," like John Candy in Spaceballs. It would have been more appropriate if she just went with "Barf."
Okay I have been watching angry Joe and a bunch of others on this and I think this is my favorite guy. Subbed. Gonna watch your review on all of these episodes
Glad I found your channel, always great to see more shots fired at that travesty; love it! I appreciate you taking the time to watch it so I don't have to - it's like they took a ~2hour show and dragged it out as long as possible.
I am reminded with Bazil; a certain movie called "The Muppets: Most Wanted." In this movie; Animal seems to take a sniff of the imposter that has replaced Kermit, then starts screaming: "Bad frog! Bad frog! Bad frog!" No one pays attention even though Animal is actually right. I wish Bazil could be understood. He would be screaming: "That's not Osha!"
The "bury the bodies" line was done after the fact... I'm sure of it. It sounds so weird. And we have been complaining about it since it happened. Bet you they noticed after the fact too.
22:28 Imagine if she threw it around instead of factory reset: like she was mad (being a sith) you would think she wouldn’t be as experienced in controlling her emotions so would lash out on this robot some how resetting it. It’s far fetched but a little better
Your videos are really good man, don't worry about the shills attacking you they are angry that the show is bad and nobody likes it. This is how i see it, if they refuse to entertain me and they destroyed my favorite franchise I'm going to find entertainment in mocking them, i will use them as my entertainment.
"see Sol couldnt contact the Order because the ship was on the fritz (even though it took no damage and was working fine last episode) so it didn't break canon" swear the only way to suspend disbelief with this show goes beyond shutting your brain off, literally take your brain out whenever you cut on an episode
I’m never forgetting that. I praise that. However, listen closely. I said DISNEY would not allow sexualizing women in Star Wars.. And they have never done so. Prove me wrong. You can’t!
@@Stark-Cinema well no, it's probably in your spank bank and I don't blame you my man. look I like you, you're witty and funny. It's just the click bait titles are no longer appealing; however you're welcome for my commenting as it helps with the algorithm. I will very much agree that if it were a woman swimming and some dude watching, that would be a no no. I thought we were talking Star Wars in general though, so for the entire fandom to think this was outside of SW are forgetting Padame and Leia.
Look up Imri Cantaros...he was Vernestra's padawan in the High republic. He was a Genetian who had very strong force empathy, and he also used some dark side methods to win fights. He was "thrown away" by his master at Starlight Beacon. He was saved by Vernestra...but he did end up dueling with Vernestra at one point and I think that is where that scar on Qimir's back is from. Just a thought. I'm thinking Sol is a Genetian as well.
“Why can this be House of the Dragon” YAAAAS that were exactly my thoughts. They barely show his shoulders. And this episode six and there’s no story so at least they should have given us a full back or just above the waist shot for our troubles.
I found the #metoo staring at the guy's genitals rather uncomfortable... because how is that stunning and brave!? Then again given the showrunner's history, it makes total sense... it seems if everyone in holly wood knows, and doesn't report it, a felony by itself, btw... there's no "To catch a predator."

Voice: "Identify yourself." May: "Ny name is" --ZAP [slumps over unconscious] made me lol So delightfully 🧀! I only found your channel recently, and I've been catching up on your previous videos. Really enjoying your sense of humor! "Probably a $10,000 activation fee" for OSHA with Ezra Miller's lightsaber. "Still cheaper than going to a Disney park for a weekend." 😂 Happy Fourth of July to my American friends! 🎇🎆🇺🇸
If the show runners were anything but clueless, they should have perceived from... well all of the classic star wars, that the concept of "honor" isn't really a thing in a galaxy far far away... at least not in any way we view it. The Mandolorians may have a concept akin to "honor" but the Jedi just try to maintain balance. They're more like monks, not samurai.
I want to say I really love your detailed breakdowns! There are some channels that put out the reviews faster, but I especially waited for yours, because its just the best :)
Actually, as a technical director at a national station, a restart often solves most initial tech issues, but everything else in this show is utter tripe. What awful fan fiction
Had this show been about Qimir it may have actually been good he’s clearly the only person on the cast who has the ability to command any screen presence.
The conversations between Darth Bortles and Little Miss Discourse should’ve been around episode 3 if they were to be impactful and move the story forward. So much feels out of order. Even within this episode, the two final scenes are out of order! We should see OSHA put on the helmet, then get Squid’s final lines as a proper cliffhanger. Nothing about this show is competent! Pretty sure I know what function Pip serves that makes OSHA “love” ‘im so much though… 😏
I suppose that's why I'm suffering under the massive crush on Qimir. He knows how play it. Batting those pretty eyelashes at Osha while they talk! I am so much in love!
Fun video commentary... For anyone who wonders why folks watch this show to only make fun of it... True fans of a long standing IP have good memories of the times it was goid which is why they are fans in the first place... So when bad content is made, even though the fan may not like it, they can still have fun making fun of it or even just talking about it amongst fellow fans who are in the same boat... As fans when we dont like something we can still get along with differance in opinions most of the time as well... When someone is asked that question, it's usually because they are feeling defensive... And that is ok... It's only when people get over defensive that it becomes a problem... And honestly, its all defensive, both the poking fun and the question of why watch it... So technically we're all still the same fans, just with different likes and dislikes... Plus i could ask the same question when someone asks why watch a show you clearly dont like and then make a vid about it, i would ask, why you watching this vid about someone talking about their experience when they didn't like it? It's such a circular topic and question... We're all SW fans, regardless...
Leslye mentioned that she was channeling her high school storytelling abilities while writing this episode. Quite the inspirational source to be sure. I keep expecting Darth Joker to say, "are you mad at me?" Just terrible.
Hey bro, These credits and recaps are getting out of hand. I've crunched the numbers and in the first 6 episodes, we've officially got an entire episodes worth of intro/credits. 30min 36sec. So we've technically watched 7 episodes.
When it comes to how Jedi Mind Reading works, it all depends. Normally its depicted as a part of Jedi Instinct. After training and gaining a better understanding of the force they gain a greater connection to it. So you have the Jedi mind trick, that works more like hypnotic suggestion and some times it doesnt work. I dont think its possible to mind trick someone to death. Also if something is TOO primitive it doesnt work all that well if at all. When it comes to "sensing" stuff and people its more like an overall reading. "Something is wrong here" Or something like " Hes lying, hes not here to help us at all" So sensing stuff is more like a general read of a situation and reading someones true intentions so its not about literally peering into their minds. Its more like an empathic ability. Both Jedi and Sith can do this but there are some Jedi and Sith that have been more powerful and shown more control or maybe they have invented or discover a new technquie or something that allows them to do something more. Its Just like Sith Lighting. Anyway my point is the force abilities in these dont make sense. The force push is simple so they get that part. But the writers either suck at representing or simply dont understand how or why OR even if they care HOW the force works. Anyway in a nut shell. You could say something like, Jedi Squidgame is under great emotional distress so right now he is distracted and because of that he didnt sense the imposter posing as OSHA. That could maybe work. But in other areas of the show they dipict the force either incorrectly or nonsensicly. So yeah. The show is bad overall. And they dont understand the force. And this was a waste of everyones time and money. All because the writers wanted to write a fanfic thats a combination of Fifty Shades of Sith (diet vitamin water edition), meets Degrassi. With a dash of "um actually..." thrown in.
I just watched a 2 hour fan edit of Kenobi to make it a movie and cut out all the bull shit, and I feel like they could do the same with this show there’s not enough story for a tv show the mystery isn’t a mystery, it’s just ppl getting interrupted before they say anything interesting it’s maddening. Like u said there’s good ideas but there just so much other wasted time, the writing is so pathetic. Great vid 👌
Smilo ren was speaking with the other characters last episode, so it doesn't stop sound presumably ? Either that or "the force" sense is just the same as normal senses because he could definitely see last episode as well. Either way the sensory deprivation part is bs
Last episode Sol didn't seem to know what the dark side was with : You wield a Jedi weapon, but you are no Jedi. And now Osha, first thing that comes to mind when speaking about anger and stuff is : Dark Side....tuh tuh tuuuhhhh
I read in a novel that not all Jedi go on to be super-warrior police officers. There are mechanics and scientists in support roles. How bad did Osha fail where she couldn't be an engineer?
Episode aside, I'm slightly realising that the plot is eeriely similar to the background of my Akashic character from Mage. For example, the unusual birth (think of a homunculus made with chinese alchemy)
My guy: from what I can tell, most of us here in the comments agree with you. In fact, I don’t see anyone here complaining. Keep doing what you’re doing! (Btw, that song you use as your closer is a total banger. Thanks for turning me on to that. 🤘🏻)
There are certain points in my video when I feel certain people will call me out, so I thought it was funny to preemptively call them out as a lil jab lmao but thanks 🙏
Just found you, You do such a good job of breaking down the episodes. So yes, please keep making them, it’s so entertaining, and I’ll never watch the acolyte, won’t give Disney the views, they broke me at TFA.
Nice way to rewrite the blinding helmets. They had no ability past making you not see. You used the FORCE to see and figure out where to block. Instead, he goes and says we use the helmets to block the FORCE. So not only do you introduce something that can block Force Mindtrick. Which should be built into, at minimum leaders or captain Storm Troopers etc. You screw up more past movies. This show should be renamed to The Retcon's
