See Lee Jung-jae and Amandla Stenberg in this action-packed clip from #TheAcolyte. On June 4, don’t miss the two-episode premiere of the newest Star Wars Original series, The Acolyte, streaming only on Disney+.
That always bothered me with obi Wan and anakin if they lose their lightsaber they started throwing random haymakers 😂 like aren't you guys suppose to know martial arts ?!?!
yeah, i personally love the fact that they're showing the old jedi not being so reliant on their lightsabers and just their normal fighting capabilities
@@raetekusu1has to be because I've seen them display martial arts in The Old Republic but during the Galactic Republic and so on nobody can do anything without a lightsaber (minus the force ofc)
Sol represents the fine example of what a Jedi was supposed to be. Because a Jedi, a *true* Jedi knows when to defend, never resorting in violence unless there is no other option, and always maintaining a peaceful, yet strong, defense with balanced emotions. Sol didn't use his lightsaber not only because he didn't need it, also because he doesn't use it to intimidate or to show off
@@LeMn680without even knowing the context of this fight, you could see the emotion and intent in every move. You could absolutely tell the amount of care and effort that went into this compared to other movies and shows. And that’s coming from someone who has been critical of Star Wars choreography.
@@LeMn680 Bro needs to go back and watch Vader's and Obi-Wan's Duel in Episode 4. Imagine thinking "not intense" is valid criticism in Star Wars when that duel exists.
I saw the same thing happen in a fight once. One guy did a kick, he had to turn his back. The other guy just quickly walked behind him. For the first guy the other vanished.
It reminded me of Darth maul vs Obi wan in rebels Darth Maul was fighting frantically and Obi Wan took him out in a flash. Really demonstrates how powerful the light side can be under the use of a master
Thats dope. I honestly hope they hire someone with expertise like this for next avengers movie. We could use some new dope action sequences in mcu, now that we will have them in star wars as well in a show nonetheless
@kptmaci4979 you call moving around slowly in painfully obvious rehearsed movements "expertise ' ? We can practically hear the dance instrictor yelling "left, right, step, good job "
I love that the Jedi doesn’t escalate the situation he just fends her off only responds that’s a quality lost among sadly lots of Jedi in the clone wars
The reason why the Sith kicked off the Clone War was to create a more militarized Jedi Order. A Clone Wars era Jedi would have immediately lopped off a limb or two and asked questions later.
Defensive fighting from Lees character....finally this is kind of what I wanted to see from the "Peacekeeper, monastic Jedi" that they are suppose to be.
I’m usually pretty critical of the choreography in these shows, but ngl this was really well done, every move had intent, and I could feel the emotional conflict with the assassin without knowing any context from the show.
@@augustinevelajr3915btw I just wanted to tell you I had Hawaiian pizza today since we are mentioning irrelevant things that make no sense to reply with
It’s not the scene itself that is bad, but how it relates to STAR WARS, is pretty bad. We are asking for better choreography with lightsaber battles, simple. No lightsabers were hurt in the making of this scene.
Master Sol is my new favourite Star Wars character-the Acolyte may have a few oddities, but Lee Jung-Jae is absolutely killing it-Sol is such a refreshing character, badass and wise but also empathic and caring. Cannot wait to see his first Lightsaber duel!
@@DarksideGmss0513 Yes, The fighting style is Teras Kasi, first introduced in 1996 Shadows of the Empire. So that part is true that it hand to hand type combat is canon. The action film style and choreograph fight looks more like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" Low, high, and birds-eye view camera angles, with closeups of facial expressions. Not the grand full scenes of combat we get in many of the pre-Disney movies.
Maaaaan, imagine if they made a legit fighting game in the style of Tekken based around this fighting style and its masters! But come on, that'd never happen.
@@baldyhardnut260 Teras Kasi is neither dark or lightside, you don’t need the force to master it, it’s the whole point. But many sith mastered this technique, most famously Darth Krayt
Not bad this show looks very promising, the lighting and filming remind me so much of the Andor show too, and that choreography between Mae and master Soul was spot on in my opinion.
It hasn't been shown very much in previous media, but Jedi DO know how to fight very well without a lightsaber. The Clone Wars just happened to be a time where lightsabers were needed 97% of the time to diffuse conflicts or even deal with threats especially with the droids involved so im glad they're showing how a Jedi can restrain themself, gauge the threat in front of them and not automatically ignite their lightsaber
I remember Mace Windu from the Clone Wars of Gendy, fighting against the droids with his bare hands and thinking about the Jedis are more than a lighsaber, cant wait to see the series will be awesome im sure
Guys who are disturbed by these scenes because they have martial arts sequences, don't forget that Star Wars was inspired by Japanese samurai movies. So, it is not strange that they have martial arts sequences
@@matthewshort4466 It looks far too slow, slow motion style and does not look right for a fight scene. It put me right out of Star Wars, sad to say. I appreciate your opinion,
Since the show is set at a time where the Jedi are at their prime, and their faster, more intense combat, I see the highlighted contrast between Mae and Sol; As Sol was the more experienced Force-user and fighter, he was able to take the knives off her back as quickly as possible. As Mae was a Padawan before she defected, she still has the ability and intellect of an average youngling and Padawan
Interesting that she goes for his lightsaber. She did the same thing in the scenes of her fighting Moss' character, but from the trailers it looks like she leaves that lightsaber behind, so she's not keeping it to bleed the crystal. I wonder then, if her goal is to kill Jedi with their own weapon? Maybe that's a test she's been set by a prospective Sith master to see if she's got what it takes?
The choreography is going to be INSANE, I LOVE seeing force-sensitives using their martial arts abilities. Let's freaking go, the combat already looks lit as hell.
Jedi was heavily inspired by East Asian (Samurai Bushido to be exact) culture and this franchise needed Asian Jedi and Lee Jung Jae is actually the perfect for the role.. I was shocked.
Agreed. The Choreography looks great, I love how Sol didn't.juat ignite his lightsaber but is instead playing defensively, moving backwards until he disarms her. Its very Jedi-like.
Lee Jung Jae is the best part of this disaster. As bad as everything looks, including the costumes that look like Halloween clothes, he really does well. Testament to his acting skills.
I agree with a previous comment... It's great to see the Jedi fight without a lightsaber. The fight scene is well choreographed from what is shown thus far. I hope to see The Full Training of a Jedi, not just bits and pieces. Also I'm hoping this show explains Jedi were never meant to be Warriors but truly Peace Keepers. Can't Wait ✌️🩵💯🔥
I know what's happening! She's trying to take his lightsaber so she can corrupt the crystal. This was done in the Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith comic.
Happened in Jedi Survivor too. Dagan Gera bleeds the crystal in his yellow lightsaber the moment Cal Kestis releases him from his bacta tank. It's such a cool scene, especially how they transformed it from print to visuals. Hope we get something similar here, too.
