Eventually the quality content that this channel consistently puts out is going to be found by the masses, and these guys will blow up in subscribers, calling it now
Honestly, I don't care if actors are experts of the IP they are working in. I care more if the producers and writers are. However, if the actor claims to be a "fan" then makes a bonehead statement like he did, well...
I stopped watching Star Wars after Obi Wan. I canceled Disney+ after Obi Wan, but I doubt I would've watched this anyway. Disney has given enough examples for me to know that I'm not really into whatever they are trying to do. It's still really interesting how they're tearing down a franchise that was so legendary in my childhood
Compared to what’s followed. It seems Obi wan wasn’t that bad. I tapped out then also. The woke narrative was always going to take over with Asohka. And its gone further down the shitcan with the acolyte it seems
I can’t believe how bland and pedestrian the first 2 episodes were. It sets nothing up, the script is cringeworthy and nothing is unique. Might as well have set it in the prequel era with a bunch of wooden Jedi in yellow robes.
I didn’t watch this and I won’t watch this but I have seen clips. Master time waster is the worst actor in Star Wars history and that includes Mark Hamill from the original Star Wars. The lead is terrible too. It is extremely difficult to be the worst Star Wars ever since that is a very high bar, Obiwan is still the champ, haven’t watched any Star Wars since. Nice to see Evil Uno got some work since he doesn’t wrestle in AEW anymore.
The interactions and attitude of Padawan Jecki are a good indicator of the shows message and direction. She is offended by seeing Yord with his shirt off and tells him (a knight that out ranks her) to put a shirt on. It was her and Sol that interrupted him. Does Sol see this as a teachable moment to reign in his Padawan and teach her stop being a sexist prude and respect the Jedi hierarchy? Nope. Okay what if Yord was a topless women? Would she have said anything? Would Sol? Probably not. Ohsa later tells Jecki she is "flexible' because she's a meknic (can't we just say mechanic). I guess this is okay because she is a lesbian talking to a woman? Okay, if Ohsa was male and mentioned because of his job he was good at 'laying pipe' this would have been fine? Neither is okay. The hypocrisy is strong in these ones. Later the actress reveals she has been playing the character (Jecki) as having a crush on Ohsa and being curious about becoming a lesbian. This isn't really character development but on this show that is of little importance. Straight man stop oppressing me with your degusting male body. I'm flexible, you know what I mean? Flexible, get it? You'll come around later they all do. Try to see if you still believe your own bullshit when these things are switched around (a little gender swapping fun). They don't tear down the walls that oppress people they just move them.
Becoming the very thing they swore to be progressed. Even the Sequel Trilogy does not shy away from male and female relations like sey Kylo and Rey, as bad as they are as a couple.
Finally, a moderate review. There's been non-stop dogpiling on it but only 2 episodes are out so far. There's hardly enough content released and not enough politicizing to be objectionable.
During the escape, the ship dropped out of hyperspace and immediately ran into three rocks. If they had hit that rock at hyperspeed, it would have been Holdo 0.9. Also, is that wookie wearing a do-rag?
I didn't hate it. I was slightly annoyed by some things. The dialog was clunky at times. The visuals were only 'ok' for how much money the spent. One interesting character and a lot of over-used and silly plot points. Still, it's Star Wars and there was enough to make me watch the 3rd episode (which I hear is rough).
I watched it. Pretty uninspired, and it just doesn't have the quality and finesse of even Mando. Or - and I've mulled this over - of CW and Sy-Fy shows like Pandora, or Killjoys. I'm serious. If it wasn't built like a lean-to shed next to the major edifice of Star Wars, it would be almost indistinguishable from the CW stuff. Moss was wasted. Her character could have had an exchange with Mae and been wounded, maybe concussed, and then spent the show trying to find the antagonist before she kills again. No need to change anyone else, just give it some juice and some stakes. But ... whatever.
Was this being made before the spotlight on Disney DEI exposed them, or after the spotlight and they are doubling down? I may never watch another Disney production as along as I live.
Haven’t seen the show yet. But I have seen reviews. I heard this theory that Osha and Mae are the same person. Kinda of a Sybil thing. I don’t buy it and if this is the case it does not inspire me to watch it. In fact, IMO, it makes the story worse.
