The Acolyte review SHOCKINGLY Bad Star Wars Finale 

Star Wars The Acolyte Finale episode 8 Series 1 the conclusion of the series that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. This series has been an stunning collection of bad interviews, marketing choices and even a diss track. Many of which put the shows already awful story, in an even worse light. But the finale was meant to wrap up the whole thing, it didn't. Instead it largely set up season 2, while contradicting everything we already knew about the series. It wasn't meant to, I just don't think the writers are morally capable of understanding what they wrote. It seems that you're meant to be rooting for Osha and Mae, that you feel sorry for them and see the Jedi as evil. Yet it failed, Sol didn't nothing wrong, the whining sisters are evil, and you're left with a series with no satisfying ending, as no villain got what they deserved. That's only true if you think Sol was the villain. But what do you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

I need to ask at this point. Does Disney KNOW that Darth Vader.... Had a RESPIRATOR? Like he wasn't just breathing heavily for dramatic effect, his LUNGS were burnt to cinders so he needs a respirator to SURVIVE. Putting on a helmet doesn't immediately result in mouth breathing.

The most evil thing about this show is the writers 😂

"I want to kill jedi" - Mae "I want to surrender to the Jedi" - Mae "I want to kill Jedi (again)" - Mae "I want to escape from the Jedi" - Mae "I want to get my memory erased and join the Jedi" - Mae ..that's not a plot, that's a mood disorder.

Sol: I killed your mother because she looked like she was doing something to your sister! I wanted to save you both! OSHA: 😡 Mae: I burnt everything down with you in it but only because I didn't want you to leave me, I'm sowwy... OSHA: 🥺

So in the end the murderers go free and unpunished. Something tells me that this ending is based on the personal experience of Leslie Headland.

Sol: Justifiably kills Osha's psycho mother in self defense, AND saved her sister Mae in the process Smilo: Murders all of Osha's close friends in cold blood, including her girlfriend, right in front of her, and tried to kill her and her sister too Osha: Chokes Sol to death because he's a monster and falls in love with Smilo

Blame every death on Sol, even though the first episode showed he not only wasn't on the same planet when the Jedi master was killed, there was a witness who pointed out who killer her. AND the second episode that showed him being around other people when the second Jedi master was found dead...Disney Logic at it's core

Man sol is the most tragic character ever. Killed a bunch of darkside witches in selfdefense, watched as all his friends killed, his padawan kills him, and is framed for all of it. If there's any justice in this world someone will try to clear sols name, hunts down osha and quimir, and exposes jedi master nempo.

This episode shows how the people behind this are actually evil, they are unable to comprehend what is good morality.

Poor Squid Game Guy. He went through the long process of learning a new language just to play a creepy weirdo who gets girlbossed to death (and happens to own a lightsaber). I'm willing to bet that he'll be content to stay in Korea from now on. And that his agent is already fired.

Gotta love how they are still pretending this is a morally grey tale. As out of character as they tried making the Jedi, they were STILL 100% in the right about the witches.

I love that they tried to make Sol the bad guy but instead he was the best actor on set, AND he got one of the only two morally decent characters. 👏 Well played Sol

Osha in Ep6: “That’s the path to the Dark Side.” Osha in Ep8: Turns to the Dark Side and kills Sol.

'Hotwire' implies there is power to reroute. The place is burnt out. Power generator is toast. WTF is there to hotwire?

Osha and Mae went through the entire story having zero positive impact on anyone's lives while only causing misery and disappointment to everyone they come in contact with. Everyone, including us, would have been better off if they had never been created.

Basil the Beaver: Sells out Mae to Sol so that he can stun and capture her. Basil, 2 hours later: Sabotages Sol's technology so that Mae can escape. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

The lightsaber turns from Blue to Red when she turns to the dark side , but Anakin's remained Blue when he turned to the dark side and was killing all the younglings. Make it make sense.

Palpatine took years to groom and coerce Anakin to the Dark side. Wish ezra miller just took his shirt off and osha was all in 😂😂

Remember when force choking had a very specific sound cue that gave the silly pantomiming some weight, because otherwise you just have someone gagging hilariously?

This is the most expensive therapy session that has ever been made into tv show. I hope you feel better, Leslie Headlamp.

I find it curious that Disney has chosen to show that the more diverse and inclusive an organization is; the more inept, corrupt, and divisive it is. 🤔

What a fascinating story. Main character does nothing of her own volition for the entirety of it, until the end, where she decides that, based on emotion, she wants to kill the one person who did nothing wrong because she heard half the story. This guy was sent to investigate a weird planet, found a coven of evil witches, and upon approaching those witches peacefully, they attack and traumatize one of his companions. He forgives this. Then he finds out they are abusing and indoctrinating children. He tries to find an excuse to save those children, instead he finds out they ripped some poor soul in half and put her in two bodies. His traumatized ally then acts irrationally and he goes to stop him, only to discover that one of the children he wanted to save was going to be killed by the other one. He finds the murderous child about to be "TRANSFORMED INTO THE FORCE" by someone else, which is literally an allegory for dying in this universe, and kills the entity that is, to the best of his understanding, attempting to murder a child. The murderous child and the child to be saved are later in a dangerous situation and he tries to save both, but is too weak, so he saves the one that is not actively a murderer and arsonist. His superior convinces him not to report the information. His superior gets killed and he feels responsible for the suspect who did it. He goes to find her, implicitly trusts her and looks out for her best interests, and gets betrayed for it and murdered. Only a twisted, insane person could think this is a good or sensible story.

The Sith escape. The murder twins escape. The hero dies and is blamed for all the dead Jedi by Master Nepo Green. Is there a worse possible ending? So OSHA is explicitly evil. You have to be purposefully evil in order to make the crystal red, according to Disney's Vader material.

Osha in Ep6: “I don’t trust you.” Osha in Ep8: Joins and trains with him.

Her lightsaber turning red while activated is so stupid. So, at that moment, she "bled" her kyber crystal by using anger and the dark side which turned it from blue to red. If that's how it works, then why did Anakin's lightsaber stay blue the entire time he was fighting Obi-Wan on Mustafar? I'd say he was even angrier and in much more despair, so much so that he lost control and choked the one thing he loved the most and tried to save and tried to kill his mentor and father figure immediately after. This is another reason that Disney's bleeding the crystal BS is stupid and I dislike it so much.

Amazing how all these young force users are now powerful than older trained masters.

Moral of the story: Crime pays.

Just a few reminders: Mae tried to kill an innocent bartender so Indara would try and save him, making her an easier kill. Qimir killed several innocent jedi who weren't even there to look for him. Both Osha and Qimir are involved with Plagueis somehow, which will lead to all the deaths that happened by the Empire in the OT. Why are the Jedi the bad ones again?

That fight between Osha and May isn't just an uninspiring fight, but think about the amazing waste of money that was involved: it was either Stenburg and a stuntwoman and they had to digitally put Stenberg's head on the stuntwoman's body, or two stuntwomen and both of them had their faces replaced. All that because of the almost completely underutilized twin gimmick that added so little that they didn't even feel the need to have the child versions be identical.

The merch got Sol killed... Pretty much sums it up perfectly.

So at the last, dark side sister stands face to face against light side sister. What ensues: 1) Petty argument 2) Slap fight.

It's all silly. The Jedi are bad - the Sith are good. If Yoda knows about the incident he's scum - if he gets played he's dumb :-( And why is rat-face-tracker sabotaging the ship?

The witches STILL haven’t proven they weren’t evil.

Light sabers are famously very hard to calibrate and align, but somehow they work fine with the crystal hanging out of the side of it.

The idea of lightsabers change colors when the user turns dark side is so ridiculous. The blades of Sith lightsabers are usually red because Sith create their kyber crystals synthetical while Jedi use natural crystals. Why do Disney has to ruin every single thing about the original lore??

When 8 episodes of Disparu (Enter budget cost here) Have been way more entertaining than 8 episodes of The Acolyte ($180m)

Person: "Lightsaber colors are purely for look. Sol is the good guy and showed restraint not wanting to kill someone multiple times and only killed one time when he was attacked." Same Person: "I want to make the colors change based on who bad a person is, and Sol is evil for killing her mother, and Osha, who has been good is definitely evil." Still the same Person: "Why are people making fun of and picking apart my plot?"

So sol says he loves her & she kills him. How is he evil & these girls good again? They seem as evil as the witches that raised them.

I legit still cannot believe that they made a show trying to say the Jedi are evil [the faction DESIGNED to be pretty much paladins, samurai and monks] and the Sith [Usually helping and leading the Empire, WHO WERE DESIGNED AFTER NAZIS] are the good guys. And we're supposed to just accept that from Mr Main Ped Ophile's personal assistant all because she's a lesbian?

Darth Plagues was obsessed with creating life. The force pushed back and created Anakin as reaction. I can imagine, they go in the direction, that they say, the 2 girls were the inspiration of Darth Plagues, so he basically tried to steal the witches accomplishment. To plagiarize it. An evil man stealing women's work. Also Darth Plagues was born between 147 - 120 BBY, this show is around 130 - 140 BBY, so at the time of the show, he either isn't even born, or he is a child, and putting him in, is stupid. They got his age wrong. So embarassing! Again! 🤦‍♂️

Why does Sol constantly shut off his lightsaber during combat? He does it to land kicks, he does it to force push, he does it to block his opponents force attacks. People just do stuff for the sake of doing it in this show.

So she thinks that if you just "can't remember anything," you aren't responsible for anything? Hhhuuu projecting much Leslye?

Amandala emoted more in her diss track than she did in the entire season of the acolyte.

'Killing with no weapon' and 'killing using THE FORCE' are not the same thing. You USED THE FORCE AS A WEAPON, something which LITERALLY ALL JEDI are capable of doing. This show is so stupid that it actually hurts my brain.

The show is just as confusing and pointless in the finale as it was in the premiere. Points for consistency.

It maddening because the Jedi, through many great pieces of the extended universe, have been THOROUGHLY and very thoughtfully dissected by examining their failures and achievements. The finest example that I can think of is KOTOR I / II. Kreia is a masterclass in writing an antagonist. Her criticism of the Jedi was exceptionally well thought-out and her motivations made sense. Nobody loves her, but everyone respects her character. Same as Sion and Nihilus. Don't even get me started on Revan. Edit: Or Jolee Bindo for that matter. He was one of my favorite Star Wars characters of all time. He had a great take on the Jedi Order. The most based opinion imo.

I agree with almost all your comments. The helmet scene at the beginning of the episode reminded me of Spaceballs when Darth Helmet enters the room. "I can't breath in this thing!"

The series is over, and from this point forward I'm betting that the official Disney chatter about it will slow to a crawl immediately. Just like how Echo was immediately dropped from the spotlight after it came out. They know it, we know it.

This is the only episode that made me actively disgusted with the script writers because they paint good as evil and evil as good. God I want to erase my memories of this show.

I still think it's funny that she uses pip to unlock one cuff but somehow gets out of the other without picking it before stabbing Sol with it.

With the smoke demon, what Heady is trying to say is, just because someone turns into an absolute monster and seems to be attacking young girls, it's evil to try and stop them. She writes what she knows!

I didn't understand anything that happened with Osha and Mae this whole season. You could write a whole video essay about how both of their characters bounced around like ping pong balls, especially Osha. At least at points, Mae had something approximating a goal. But Osha was the universe's cat toy, all the way down to getting knocked under the fridge by an idiot. Both just turn on a dime at random. Why am I supposed to care that Osha switched to the Dark Side? Is that something her character would do? I don't know, Acolyte! You tell me! She's _your_ character. But no, stuff like emoting and having agency is saved for special occasions like season finales. Gi-hun's _English_ was better than her body language. I await the return of The Acolyte... in Sheev Talks' crosshairs. _Dewwit!_

Sol was the only who was acting and showing emotions in this whole series. And he was someone who didnt even know English as his first language. Because he was the only one acting, hes the only one audiences can actually connect too. I wish there would be a S2. i want more hilarious commentary from Disparu and everyone else

I remember when she survived that crash in episode 1 without having a scratch or a tear in clothes. I didnt know at that point how much worse it would get. I wasnt expecting a show that makes Batwoman look like prime writing. I just dont understand how Mae can live with herself and justify to herself all the lies and death she causes. O then she gets her mind wiped so she gets the magic heal, and no1 alive knows what really happened.
