The Acolyte Review WORST Star Wars Story so Far! Episode 7 Season 1 

Star Wars The Acolyte Review of Season 1 Episode 7 where we get a flashback to explain the plot holes. Except the plot holes just get worse and now the previous episodes don't make sense too. Surprisingly most of The Acolyte episode 3 was just confirmed, even the stupid parts of the plot. Everyone was making up theories and excuses to try and make the show better but no, we overestimated the writers once more. In fact all of the interviews about the show being morally complex, challenging, and shown from the sith perspective. None of this has happened. The Sith are entirely evil, the Jedi entirely good, and while that's how it should be. It's very strange that wasn't the intention of the show and they lucked into it. Possessing Jedi to attack their friends, mind-manipulating a padawan by preying on their insecurities, manipulating an 8 year old child into using violence, and suddenly turning into a black smoke creature will certainly prove that the Lesbian Space Witches were (somehow) "good", and that the Jedi were (somehow) "evil", right? (Seriously, what the HELL were the writers smoking when they wrote this episode?)

"I just wanted to go home. I thought it was doing the right thing." *downs poison and dies from stupidity*

It’s gonna be the worst Star Wars Story until the next Star Wars story. The bar is so low yet they still manage to trip over it

This show has proven two rumors beyond any shadow of a doubt: 1, it is basically impossible for a writer to write a convincing character who is smarter than themselves; and 2, Leslye Headland has a room-temperature IQ...

It's obvious: Jedi Curly took the poison because he *still* hadn't made it back to Coruscant.

The fact that they quite literally worship a plot hole is kind of funny.

Indara was able to kill an entire coven of witches with her mind...yet got taken out by a steel dagger thrown by a weak force user. Jeezus.

"That's why I have a padawan and you don't." She was SO GOOD at training this padawan that he placed himself in a trance for 16 years and finally gets out of the trance to drink poison and off himself. Yeah.....what a great f*cking teacher she was!

So the Jedi really didn't do anything wrong. The Space Witches attacked the Jedi with their magic powers, took over the then-Padawan's mind and coerced him into making a hasty decision, took over the Wookie's mind and forced him into trying to kill his allies, died when their connection to the one they were mind-controlling was severed, and Evil Twin really did almost get Good Twin killed by setting their home on fire...even though it was all stone, metal, and non-flammable materials. Such stunning and brave writing.

THese script writers have to have characters tell you what "Really" happened in movies and shows constantly, because we saw what happened, and they are going to gaslight us. "No it is the Jedi's fault for being their without being hostile and actually being attacked first. They are the evil ones, the girl who literally tried to kill her sister but felt bad after doing it and ran to mommy to come fix it as her mothers are aggressively threatening two people with their weapons, and then turns into some kind of dark cloud, They are innocent. It is the Jedi's fault."

Every time I think Disney Star Wars has hit rock bottom, they find a trap door.

"Im on a revenge quest to kill the Jedi who were there when my family and our community were killed." Mae "The Jedi killed your entire community!?!? Thats horrifying!" Sensible person "No. I killed them. The Jedi were there though." Mae Also googling "Star Wars Acolyte characters" is a treat. The protagonist of the show wasnt even on the first row of actors listed.

The funny thing is, other episodes have shown us travel between Coruscant and any other place in the galaxy takes about 2 seconds; if Torbin was so homesick he could have went there, watched his favorite show and returned back before any of the other jedi even noticed.

So, we're supposed to hate the Jedi for...entirely reasonable self-defense?

All this time they kept saying jedi go around kidnapping kids yet now we clearly see they weren’t even on this planet looking for the kids. They stumbled upon them & asked to test them. Then only after one said she wanted to go with the jedi did they consider taking her. Again how are they evil?

Having a black woman go out with Death by Cop is a wild way to go in Star Wars…

Turning into a huge evil smoke monster to just say, Osha chose the Jedi. Is a bit like waving a gun at child protection services and then wondering why the police are shooting you.

Wait, so Tommen was willing to betray the Jedi Order and his oath just because he was sick of camping out in the woods for 2 months?

So the infamous "Power of Many" is easily defeated by one lone Jedi master and the price to pay is they die?

All the padawan had to do was kill the wicked witch, take her ruby slippers and utter the phrase, "There's no place like home."

That scene where the mother got stabbed was so dumb, imagine Thanos did the snap everyone is dissolving Thor comes in and stabs Thanos, then Thanos goes "I'm saving half the universe" and then Thor feels remorse and goes "what have I done!?" and then starts playing Fortnite in depression and gets fat. The Jedi did nothing wrong, the writers have no concept of self defense.

'I don't tell my padawan answers to ease his mind, I let him stew over not having information he can't possibly get'. So you train people to turn to the dark side in sheer frustration because you're a crap teacher then, lady? No wonder he's a twit. His teacher doesn't teach. The rest of this episode just reminded me of one thing: Remember when an aged Obi Wan Kenobi sliced a dude's hand off for pulling a blaster? I miss when Jedi weren't complete wussies.

HeelsVSBabyface pointed out when master Squid Game was putting the moss in the... thing, Carrie Anne Moss was in frame. That's about as deep as this show gets, probably by accident.

Lets see what we "learnt" 1) Mae still is the cause of fire, AND the explosions too! 2) Sol only killed head witch AFTER she appears to attack, and she tries to kill Mae without explaining anything! 3) other mother gets disarmed in quick order 4) Other witches posess the wookiee to attack first. Trinity breaking the connection kills them all in hilarious fashion 5) Jedi spend 2 months literally combing the desert, completely ignoring the village or other events 6) Jedi are stupidly emo for no darn reason. Especially Sol 7) Jedi can scan for force vergences with machines, but not sense it in the force themselves. 8) So much for the power of Many. One Jedi just beat them all in mind games

Clearly the Jedi did not understand the nuanced communication which the witches use. Turning into a giant evil-looking smoke monster while seemingly causing a kid to slowly start to blow away...is just how the witches say 'Goodbye'. Silly Jedi...

Dark side users: make one Jedi dude sorta succumb to the dark side, ready to do anything to go home..... Turns out he actually ends up acting reasonable despite all that.... Dark side users: make their own daughter succumb to the dark side, ready to burn her own home to the ground and kill her sister in order to stop her sister from leaving..... Dark side users: succumb to the dark side and act hostile and try to start a war over something that could be easily solved with, "No thanks, go away now." Jedi: "Hey your kid seems to be trying to kill your other kid and we are worried for her safety." Dark side user: *Turns demonic* Disney: "The Jedi are the bad guys. Hyuhuk"

the "sacrifice" cinematic trailer for SWTOR literally told the twin story better in 3 minutes than this show has in 7 whole episodes. It's insane how bad the writing is

So, A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away, They Find King Leonidas' PIT OF DEATH!

What is astonishing about this series is, that whenever you see an obvious cliche plot point coming and you are thinking "nah, that can't be it, it would be too obvious and stupid" that is exactly what is going to happen. It is like Headland invented the reverse red herring. It is so stupid it is kinda genius. Anyone could make a bad Star Wars show, but to make a Star Wars show that is so bad that even Grace Randolph has to stop pretending to like it has to be a form of art.

Padawan waits seven weeks to ask what they are there and what they are doing. Trinity waits seven weeks to comment dont insult the Wookies cooking. Leslie Headland says its really hard to tell two identical things apart. STAR WARS IS 47 YEARS OLD AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS

Don't forget that the witches just assumed the Jedi were there to spy on them when the Jedi had no freaking clue they were even there. It was rash paranoia that fueled panic and overreaction without any desire to work out what was actually going on. The whole coven was unstable and unreliable in providing any sort of clear judgment about the situation - either in the moment or reflecting on it. The fact that the Jedi seem to agree with the witches' self-ascribed martyrdom even though it was all self-inflicted means that we're all supposed to agree that the witches were the victims here, but they instigated it all and invaded people's minds in very forceful ways without warning or attempts at deescalation.

Never in my wildest fever dreams could I ever have predicted that one day I would witness a Jedi in canon using a metal detector like an 80 year old retiree at the beach...

The funny thing about the test is she still knows exactly when the picture changes (except for the time she suddenly doesn't) so she gives herself away immediately

What I find extremly funny is that the show wants to tell us the witches were good, the Sith is understandable and the Jedi are bad. But all the show SHOWED is the opposite. The Sith killing people because he wants to, the witches attacking the Jedi who were civil and polite and the Jedi only acted in self defense. And why the Jedi have so many regrets makes no sense to me (especially Thorben who has no reason to kill himself) - Sol acted how he thought the force wanted him to, and acted in self defense, trying his best to keep two children alive. They acted in self defense (which is no issue at all according to the Jedi teachings) or in defense of others (Sol killed the leader, true, but only because he thought she is attacking a child). There is no reason at all to be so regretful. Even letting Mae fall (which was a bit stupid) would not be such a devastating thing, because she tried to kill her sister, burned down the whole complex and was already corrupted by the dark side) Really ironic that they didn't even manage to have the message they wanted to have in their show, even though they wrote it. Sure, the writing is bad, but if you can't even write the message you intended to write (according to comments in interviews and in articles in the media)

7 out of 8 episodes in this show and I still have no idea who these characters are

They definitely chickened out with the whole "Torbin getting mind-broken" thing, and it would have been so simple. Just have his reason to go home be that he senses great pain in his future or something, then when the head witch gets in his head, make it actual torture instead of "I can help you go home", so that his reasoning for wanting to go home later is for good reason; he doesn't want to get mind-tortured again! Wouldn't make his suicide make any more sense, but at least his motivation in this episode would make more sense.

The climbing the mountain part is fucking hilarious to me - apparently him and curlbin scaled this Everest in about 10-20 mins hahahaha

I've now put the official Hasbro "Star Wars: Acolyte - Jedi Grass Bucket" on my Christmas wish list 🙂

Lol. Every single RU-vid I follow has pointed out that even Grace Randolph has given up on the ghost.

I think this episode accurately represent how the writers feel about oppression. The witches are being oppressed because they simple are oppressed, the actions of the Jedi and their actions don't have to line up with the idea that they are oppressed. Women are oppressed by men, black people by white people, homosexuals by heterosexuals and transsexuals by everyone, regardless of whatever situation is at hand. In this fantasy world, the witches are set up as being oppressed by the Jedi and the republic and that is what is happening regardless of what actions the supposed victims and the supposed oppressors take.

$180 million for the series, $22 million dollars per episode. It's truly amazing.

If I'd seen impossibly identical results from two samples in a test, my first conclusion would be "oops, I must've put the same sample in twice!", not "holy hyperspace, the Force did it!"

I think the black witch mother also thought Mae was Osha 😅 she turned into black smoke to help Osha escape... But Jedi Master Squid thought her objective was to attack her and smoked her ass. That's why she says she wanted Osha to go when Jedi Master Squid caught her. 😂 So she couldn't tell her kids apart too?

Trinity clarifying they are WoMEN is the perfect personification of Disney Star Wars.

I love how this reminds me of how demons, usually during a exorcism or on the lead up to one, will quote scripture mockingly but may inadvertently quote something that encourages more faith in their opponents, ultimately leading to their loss in the battle. The writers made a straw man out of the Jedi and thought they were dunking on them but ended up letting us know that the dark side loses because of their lack of faith. I'll call this story canon in the meta sense that it brings the truth of the fight between good fans and misguided creators to our world. The fans won because the force is strong in all of us.

Even "The Smoke Monster" from LOST makes more sense that her turning into smoke

She said "it's Kill Bill meets Frozen," and this episode shows that Leslye Headland is not only a poor showrunner, but she's also a liar, a fraud, and someone who longs to write something equivalent to Kill Bill or Frozen, but she can't, because she lacks the talent to do it.

Never thought in all my years of enjoying good Star Wars I would see the Jedi be labeled as the bad guys.

The Witches literally started with mind-control to try to take-out the Jedi, yet I'm supposed to think the Jedi are the villains?! The Jedi are absolute heroes here! The Witches FA&FO, conscious cleared. Absolutely no remorse or regret should be had from this. Good triumphed over evil, the end.

The way sol said " I Feel for the girls safety" ,made me laugh my ass of 🤣.

The thing about people who write scripts like this is that they have been exposed to a lot of entertaining scenes and plots from the past, but they genuinely do not understand how and why those old plots were entertaining. They're trying to throw in a bunch of gimmicks and expecting that to be good enough.

When sol gives Mae and Osha the test, they should have done it like Bill Murray doing the Zener Card test with the students in Ghost Busters. Osha gets them all wrong, but Sol just lies and says she got them all right, while Mae guesses correctly, but he fails her anyway.

I cant wait for episode 8 where these amazing writers tie this entire story of suspense together in a perfectly reasonable and amazingly twisty way that none of us expect.

Sol learned his testing protocol based on Venkman and Stantz's pioneering work with paranormal essence transfer. They used flash cards though.

They portrayed the Sith mothers as evil IN THEIR OWN SHOW! Mae came out and called for help. Sol, even though he got the wrong kid, reached out to signal her to stay back while the Sith mother made no move to help Mae, but was so consumed by hate that she set her daughter's distress aside to attempt murder.

1:44 Were the witches cooking meth in the basement? Ether and and open flame could cause an explosion like that 12:30 King Tommen wants to go home -- well take him home! It's only like a 30 minute trip.

The biggest problem with portraying the Jedi as bad/corrupt is that no matter how the current writers see it, George Lucas never really saw it that way. So there’s all these things in the lore and stuff characters have said that they have to either re-contextualize, ignore, or just say that the old & beloved characters were wrong about the Jedi. And none of those explanations are going to sit well with die-hard Star Wars fans.

The Acolyte has hurt my brain enough that only a competent Star Wars story will heal it. I'm going to retreat back into the warm embrace of the Thrawn trilogy and the New Jedi Order for a month or so to start healing from this madness

I'm 100% invested in wanting to know just how bad this will get by the end. Not disappointed so far.
