Paul McGann doesn't get the recognition he deserves for most of his work. He was the Doctor for one television movie and several audio adventures. He appears a couple times as the Doctor, but never a full series. He has done films, such as a minor role in The Three Musketeers and as a prisoner in Alien 3 among others, and mostly British television series, like Luther with Idris Elba. To have him narrate this trailer is like frosting on a cake. Enough to entice us to be ready for the next decade of Doctor Who. I actually met Paul McGann. Nice guy.

Would love to see a new take on that very cleverly handled War Doctor and Clara dynamic but with McGann and the new companion. Especially if the new doctor is as bubbly happy as I expect him to be for the clean refresh. I.e. having her see a bitter cold doctor contrasted with "her" doctor and wonder anew at who this person really is All while showing us really wonky time and space based weaponry

he wasn't blacklisted or anything, he will always be the 9th Doctor. I think they wanted to respect his wishes of being minimally involved after his falling out with RTD. he was meant to be the war doctor but he didn't want to be involved with the 50th. however time mends old wounds, which is why did Big Finish and his if he appears somehow in any capacity for the 60th I will be truly excited.

We will see if they will recover during short David's run and long (2 seasons?) Ncuti's run. I mean, ratings were already in decline during late Moffat and late Capaldi, but after short bump when Jodie was casted, they started to decline rapidly again.

Having Paul McGann narrate this and have the trailer itself represent Nine (who just as much as Eight feels like Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Show these days) so much was SO GOOD.
