From In Living Color, it's the world's newest handicapped superhero, Handi-Man! NOT MEANT FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT. ONLY FOR SOLE PURPOSE OF ENTERTAINMENT.
I went to high school with a guy with cerebral palsy when this came out and he did a Handi-Man impression all the time. Being able to make light of our differences with light-hearted comedy is the core of getting along with everyone and I wish we could get back to that.
for real, i was always brought up to think people with disabilities didnt want to be treated any differently than others, same with races, now we have to magnify people if they are any of those.
That's just stupid. The only difference today is they'd get someone actually disabled to do it, and the only people who'd cry about it would be conservatives crying about it being "woke." 😂
I went to school with a kid that I believe had some sort of physical/muscular disability and was wheelchair bound. Kids teased him about the character Timmy from south park, a mentally disabled character. This kid wasn't mentally disabled, so being called Timmy was pretty hurtful to him. Sometimes these characters have more negative impact than their creators would want. I dont know if that means we censor comedy, but we cant act like jokes don't hurt sometimes. There's that grey area where we do creative things even though we know it might not age well. BTW, I love south park and Timmy made me laugh. I thankfully had enough decency to not make fun of the kid at school, as immature as I was.
🚫 Well, it's the 21st century, where the media, the democrats, and their radical voter base think YOU would be better off NOT laughing! It is they who are promoting the ridiculous notion that comedy is offensive! It's tough to laugh right now anyway, when we think about the tens of thousands of American citizens and Afghani refugees who were abandoned in Afghanistan by the Biden regime, who are now hostages of the Taliban. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of immigrants who've been exposed to Covid in the overcrowded detention facilities, because the Biden regime treated them the same way Andrew Cuomo treated the 15,000 dead NY nursing home victims!
@@paulmarclalonde3834 Wow, such an intelligent insult! I especially like how you didn't even attempt to make a logical point. It sounds like you don't actually pay attention to the political and social issues that are causing problems. Otherwise, you'd agree with me! I'm on the opposite side than those who are trying to divide us up by race, sex and gender, to foster hatred and fear, for their own political benefit.
😂😂😂😂😂……this comedy skit is still funny after all these years, when I was in the army stationed at Fort Stewart GA me and my buddies use to race to crib after getting off work to watch in living color.
People have to wake up and stop voting anti-American anti-JudeoChristian satanic NWO CCP liberal Demoncrat... They've destroyed the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, SNL, comedy etc.
Low key, it's great to see that Handi-Man was out there standing up for those who can't stand up. He's a goddamn hero and a patriot, and he disappeared too soon.
Last thing I saw him on was Curb Your Enthusiasm and he was playing a cop. I barely recognized him and it almost seemed like he was given the part because he needed work, not because he's Damon Wayans. It was quite strange.
That's because you have something that is sorely lacking in this country right now, it's called a sense of humor. This country turned to shit when collectively it lost the ability to laugh at ourselves.
The worst thing about how p;ssified everything is today, is that it's always some moron with a hero complex insisting that they speak for others. White liberal feminists gender something something no one cares (white liberal women) for example always speaking for as they call them "bipoc". They say the road to hell is paved in good intentions.
@@daveyboy_ Angry Woman. Just read up on the state of Marvel comics these days and who they have writing for them. All SJWs want are Angry Woman heroes.
Jonathan Rizo this would never fly today because you could never have an able bodied person play a handicap role, that’s why the new Ironside in 2013 was canceled after 9 episodes. They were using an able bodied person so they could do flashbacks but they were going to be sued by handicapable people in wheelchairs who felt that they had been discriminated against for the role of Ironside. So instead of dealing with a title 9 lawsuit they just canceled the show 🤦♂️
Who's not "allowing" you to be funny? You can do what the hell you want. Nobody stops me from doing anything. Honestly, the idiocy and weakness in the world today.
@Mark Steitz What does it matter if its cartoons or live action? The main reason that they are cartoons is that edgy humor has to now go to really abstract places which require surrealism live action wouldn't be able to do. its not like a show can do the same jokes from the 90's because its tired, classic in its own right which is why i'm watching it but today would just be stale. to some degree you have 'edgy' stand up I hear Bill burr is edgy but I can't stand watching him because he just yells with that accent of his. Chapelle still makes bank. Point being in living color is classic and wouldn't make it today just because our sensibilities are different not so much a politically correct censor standing in the way
This show came out in '90. I was working construction and taking classes at my local community college. One of my classmates was a young woman who had cerebral palsy. She thought that skit was one of the funniest things she ever saw. Non disabled people hogging the accessible stall are assholes.
We've been physically challenged, and in a wheelchair our selves since we were 4 years old, and must say. "That we've been looking so forward to people having a great laugh at us all. Rather than a pat on the head, and a dime in our caps." Great Laughs for us all HANDIMAN!!!
@@neb3757 wouldn't go that far... Outside of the Batman trilogy and the Snyder cut - WB has some catching up to do. From Iron Man 1 through Endgame (Captain Marvel excluded because it is trash) Those Marvel movies have ranged from good to exceptional.
Totally forgot about this. The only parts that cracked me up every time was when he said "up up and awaaaaay". But instead fell awkwardly downwards out the window every time. Not sure why I thought that was so funny but it got me every time.
Did anyone catch when Nicole Joyner slip and say "introed" instead of introduced when she typed this comment? Side note: had a real fight with autocorrect typing introed.
I have said this many times and will continue to say it...In Living Color was way ahead of it's time and will go down in history as classics! Loved it back then and still do!!!
Yeah! Thanks to those, who want to take away the freedom of speech, the freedom of opinion, and the freedom of expression. You can thank the liberals for that!
The stupid masses are offended by anything, F them, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Exercise your freedom of speech now and forever.
I miss when we could just embrace our differences and laugh and make jokes about it, instead of this overly sensitive stick-up-your-ass attitude everyone has about it now...
The problem is people who get offended for others. Handicap people usually say they want to be treated like everyone else. We make fun of everyone else, so that means we should also make fun of them. yet you have miserable people who look to manufacture outrage who take it upon themselves to become offended for demographics they don't really represent, such as the handicapped. People bitch and moan about how wrong it is to make gags about the disabled, yet the disabled want to be part of the joke like "normal" people. In other words, fuck it. Do it anyway.
I am so glad I was of age ( in my mid 20s) to see this Historical show bring a new kind of comedy to the forefront that will never ever be again! GAT DAMN HILARIOUS 😂😂😂
Last time I heard that term, was Bill Parcels , I think when he was coaching the NY Giants, talking about a surprise play, a " jap play", then he said " no disrespect to the orientals". Thats usually said right before someone is about to be disrespected
We say all the time in the UK as it's the correct term for people from China, Japan, North and South Korea, Cambodia, laos, Taiwan, Thailand, Burma and Vietnam not Asian as Americans always say. Asia refers to the Indian subcontinent and includes Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Lucille de Lorme Never knew you Brits used different terms to differentiate the east and west parts of Asia, the more you know. It’s always fun finding little differences in our cultures.
Handi Man inspired me to show everyone that it doesn't matter if we have Autism or any other disability. We are human beings, and we can still make our dreams come true!!!! Remember, you can make a difference because we can all be independent every day!!!! #AUTISMAWARENESS
I honestly think this sketch actually allows disabled people to feel seen. I have a friend who literally talks like Handiman since he had a stroke. Laughing about it honestly makes him feel better and part of the human experience.
I remember Damon doing a routine of Handi Man, I had no idea it was turned into a sketch on In Living Color until a few days ago. It absolutly hilarious! xD
So, this cap here. Is it like a Swiss Army knife or an Inspector Gadget add-on or a Bionic Man feature and would you hire daniel Radcliffe, Matthew Broderick, or Lee Majors as your consultants?
I went to school with a guy who was handicapped and he was Handi Man for Halloween. Back in the good ol' days when the snowflakes melted before they ever touched the ground. Also, top notch performance from Jim Carrey in this one
I always wished that tommy, david and damon did their own sketch comedy show after lc started to fall apart. those three provided some of the best laughs I've ever had.
I'm glad we are still able to watch these hilarious ass skits, but it's sad knowing that we'll never have anything like this ever again. ILC wouldn't have even made it to air today. 😢 I wish we could go back to a time when everyone wasn't so uptight about everything.
People yammering on "this would never fly in 2019" People actually complained in the 1990's lol I was born with a disability that now has me in a wheelchair, but I found this skit to be hilarious back at that time when I was a teenager. I'm 44 now
My best friend is quadriplegic and sometimes he has leg spasms randomly, every time he says " oh I gotta twerk it out, twerk it out." I think people forgot how to use laughter to deal with pain.
Sooo funny! Miss this show so much!!! Classic. It'really funny how handicapped people can laugh at this while its the people with no issues crying about it....hmmm. My handicapped mother was dying and absolutely loved this.
