On the last edition of The Wrestling Degenerates, we discussed Jack Gallagher, a British wrestler in WWE who lost it all after a dark secret resurfaced. We talked about Ted DiBiase Jr, the son of a wrestling legend whose real life fit his wrestling character very well, and we discussed Bill DeMott, the WWE Performance Center’s first-ever head trainer who was surrounded by allegations of bullying and misconduct. Today I give you the AEW Degenerates, we’re going to be talking about wrestlers who found themselves embroiled in controversy whilst they were in AEW. Once again this video is not an attack on the company, so no meatrider tears in the comments, please. And no, I will not be discussing CM Punk in this video.

The Jimmy Havoc one still resonates with me. He could have been a star in AEW after his long run in the UK indies as PROGRESS' top heel and even winning CZW's Tournament Of Death once. I was such a big fan of his and to see his career crash and burn like that is just sad.

@@wrestlingwithart In PROGRESS, people definitely did. It's where he became the great deathmatch wrestler and later allowed himself to earn bookings in CZW, WCPW/Defiant and others. Once he went to AEW, that's when people I think started to lose interest in him. When your roster has big names like Omega, Cody, Bucks, Hangman, Jericho and Moxley to start with, almost no one is gonna care about a lowley wrestler on Dark, which is what Jimmy became before the allegation.

Nah, calling Ryback as degenerate is actually a stretch. Dude's maybe fucking unsafe in ring, being all talk and can't walk the walk, and shoot dumbass on his real life/social media and got roasted by people/other wrestlers on the internet for that very reason, but he actually hasn't done anything that even comes close to degeneracy. Ryback is like the real life equivalent of Patrick Star or Yamcha. He's just a living laughing stock for us rather than someone to get disgusted at and he's probably going to stay that way forever.

Still sad about Brian Kendrick. In his younger days, he was fantastic with Paul London. I always liked the dude, even in his singles runs. When he returned as a veteran, his in ring style was really intriguing and unique. He still had some of his classic moveset, but he simplified things in a super smart way by using the ring itself as a weapon. His finisher, Sliced Bread, would have been my finisher if I had ever learned to wrestle (it's been my video game finisher for like a decade plus), and I even considered seeking out his training school if I was going to learn. It's so sad how stupid conspiracy theories are able to brain-rot people.

I feel that pain so much. Rey Mysterio was what got me into wrestling during the Summerslam 2005 stuff and Batista being Filipinoi (as I'm part Filipino and was in the Philippines when I heard of wrestling), but I stayed for London and Kendrick, cheering them as they got their tag team championships, had watched their armageddon ladder match so many times, got their autographs for No mercy 2007 and even loved how Ashley was their partner. Now look at what happened to all three of them: one is dead, one is a degenerate and one is retired and his reputation tarnished for a smiling incident. It really hurts to look back at those days when London, Kendrick and Ashley raced into the ring and what's happened to them nearly 20 years later.

I think the false alarm one would be the most interesting because those are the ones I think you'd have the most to say on that haven't had a lot said about them. I also feel that you'd have a lot of people to pull from so it could be a bigger episode. The problem with the women's episode is that when I started thinking of women, most of them I thought of because they slept around or did porn, which is degenerate but not really wrong and someone like Chyna or Alicia Fox would not deserve to be on the same list as someone like Sunny. I also feel that the reformed episode would be a lot of stories already known like Scott Hall and Shawn Michaels so there's not a whole lot to add.

The Jimmy Havoc one hurt. I was a big fan of him in Progress and ICW, and loved him winning CZW's Tournament of Death one year. I even got to do a training seminar with him years ago when he came to Australia for MCW, and he was such a chilled guy. I'm in 2 different minds now. I condemn what he did and is unforgivable, but the guy does need help with mental and substance issues

I first saw Jimmy Havoc on a Defiant/WCPW card on RU-vid and I instantly was drawn towards him just because of his gimmick alone, but in my opion the talent never stands above the person. Benoit is the best example for this: was he an amazing worker? I never saw his in ring work, but aperantly he was. But he took three lifes in cold blood and so his in ring talent doesn't matter anymore, he will forever be a murderer

according to an indy guy who worked a feud with her (christian rose, look him up!), shotzi is very good at a narrow range of things, and does indeed rely on her opponent to take the lead much of the time. i can't say a lot more, as the only match of hers i have seen was that one.

@@Jesusblowsme666 I don’t believe either of these were ever proven, but Darby was accused of being emotionally abusive in a relationship by saying he’d dump a girl if she didn’t have sex with him more, and Lethal was accused by Taeler Hendrix of killing her push because she wouldn’t have sex with him.

I'm not sure if I'd call someone who was never signed on as a contracted wrestler for the company, and had what would have been their only appearance for AEW canceled before it happened, an AEW Degenerate. Not saying that Kendrick isn't a wrestling degenerate for the conspiracy theory nonsense that he pushed, just that he barely even counts as an AEW wrestler.
