Gwladys is one of a growing number of older workers in Wales who are reinventing themselves and retraining for an extension of their earning years. It is forecast that by 2020 a third of the Welsh workforce will be aged over 50.
The Welsh Government is urging employers to invest in their older employees’ skills and help them extend their working lives, both for their own wellbeing and the health of Welsh businesses. Firms need to hold on to valuable skills and experience in order to grow and to avoid a huge threatened shortage of workers in the next decade.
