Elijah Vasquez Good luck and may you experience a miraculous enlightenment also you only have around 15 hours left and even in two times speed it takes 4 hours.
That intro has helped me get so many people into this series. "Look, if you're not into it after just one minute, we can put something else on." Two hours later...
That opening statement about the test is one of my favorite quotes in the whole world and the way John delivers it is AMAZING, but what makes it better is the way he casually and nonchalantly just finishes it with "I know right?" 😂
Why do people dislike crash course videos? 😐 these guys just provide good information with a sense of humor. Love what you’re doing keep up the great work
Markie Winters YESSSSS!!!!! It's very interesting, and fun to watch! I get some funny looks in history class for knowing how trade between the Venetians and the Byzantines helped start the Renaissance, though! XD
tbh i never took any ap history classes or used crash course as a student, but i rewatch these all the time just because i love them. i love john's delivery, i love the thought bubbles, i love the way things are covered :^)
None of the ancient people, and not appropriated the invention of agriculture or metallurgy - they say that knowledge gave the gods - that people were fed the gods, who built the pyramids - Here is the real "Crash Course World History"
I love that everyone in the comments is cramming for the AP World exam tomorrow, because it makes me feel a lot better about the fact that I myself am doing the exact same thing. Let's do this!
"History reminds us that revolutions are not events so much as they are processes; that for tens of thousands of years people have been making decisions that irrevocably shaped the world that we live in today. Just as today we are making subtle, irrevocable decisions that people of the future will remember as revolutions." John Green and the rest of the script team, 2012 everyone. We've been living in the revolution lads.
I think from now on, no matter how little it actually connects to the point at hand, I will respond to generalizations with "Unless you are the mongols."
I love that these videos exist. They are so helpful. I didn't get a great education growing up (religious homeschool with a mentally ill parent) so I am learning a lot now in my 30s to make up for it.
I have three degrees in history and still learn a ton from these videos. Most history programmes in my country encourage honing in on one very small geographical area and/or time period - especially at graduate level. However, I think having a broader view is essential if you want to be a great historian (and human being), and I always encourage it in anyone starting out in this field of study :)
It really is great to see that a youtube channel dedicated to educating people has over 1 million subscribers and almost every single one of its videos getting over half a million views.
Every couple months I come back and watch the "about the test" speech to re-motivate myself, and the moment he says " I know right, so pay attention" never fails to excite me. Thanks for the continued inspiration, John Green
Dear CrashCourse, I am a student from Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet Union country, and I really enjoyed watching CrashCourse videos. I would love to share them with all people in my country, but the overwhelming majority of Kyrgyz people does not speak English. With my friends I wanted to join, translate and dub the World History course so that pupils and students from all over our small country could watch those videos and educate themselves. Maybe, some schools will agree to show them as well. I am writing this email to ask your permission to translate your courses and share them on RU-vid. We are not going to monetise it or sell the videos, we simply want to make your amazing works open for more people, and for Kyrgyz children and youth particularly. Kind regards, Azamat Omuraliev
Have you tried emailing him or message him through social media? He might see it if you do it there. Also, I admire your dedication to spread this knowledge to your fellow citizens.
It's been over 4 years since I took AP World but I come here every once in a while to reminisce. The day of the exam, many of us students overpopulated a teacher's room because he promised to bring donuts for exam day. And we just munched on those donuts, in a dark classroom dimly lit by a small window with the projector playing "the history of the entire world i guess." But we barely paid attention, because small chatter filled the room, and everyone was anxious for the big day. Looking back, I felt like I was suffering, but now I carry a fond memory of a time where I was challenged to learn; now I take fulfillment in this small-souled vanity. I miss my classmates and wish the best for them (and wish the best for whoever's reading this, too)
remember when this show was the first on youtube to have simple, engaging infograhics that completely set the tone for other educational channels? crash course was there first 💚💚💚 love you john, you nut
I've probably watched World History, as a whole, half a dozen times, and the beginning of this episode gets me every time. "And everything, EVERYTHING, will be on it."
2012 wow ten years ago I was starting freshman year of hs. These videos seemed like they were made for teens just like me at the time. They got me through so many papers and projects or when it felt I really just had to teach these things to myself. Thank you for all the time, energy and resources it took to make these videos because y’all taught a generation of kids when it seemed like the school system couldn’t. 💗
Is it really? God damn, I just want the information. The jokes, the pretend voices (from the US politics series) etc just annoy me and make me think "hurry up and get on with it". I'm trying to learn, it seems like there's too much emphasis on trying to entertain.
SLagonia But we needed them to learn from it. Mathematics did not come naturally to me. So I learned their way as well as mine. That is an advantage IF you can learn how to stop judging other illusions. We all do the best we can at any given moment. And in order to know it all we need international business experience as well as a degree in economics and accounting.
Wholickedme literally the author of "the fault in our stars", the new york times #1 bestseller. I knew him as a youtuber before I knew he was an author so when he dropped that tidbit during one of his vids i was like WTF?? BIG big gent
Wow! He teaches really good! And he is really funny! OMG! I would love it if every teacher taught like that! I am Korean and I think this person was born to teach! He even writes books! 🤩
Wily Wimpod Advanced Prep, it's a college level course in high school and there's a test at the end of the school year (May) and if you pass you get college credits for that subject
@ Crash Course Can I just say, John, the first 55 seconds of this video were amazing at summarizing what crash course has become: "Everything, everything will be on it. I know, right, so pay attention."
I only taught world history for 30 years in high school, so what do I know... But. John got me with his first minute semi-rant on "Is this going to be on the test?" had me wishing I'd said that. My granddaughter was assigned this series over the summer before high school, and I can understand why she likes it.
It's a class you can take in the United States education system (mainly in High School) that is more difficult and complex than regular classes. AP stands for Advanced Placement and usually you can earn a college credit for the class. The class is supposed to represent what college academics will be like.
Starting my sophomore year of high school and watching this simply because I want to get a bit of knowledge ahead of time. That was I'll have a better chance at getting honors and high grades this year. Also, history is a very interesting subject that I'm looking forward to taking and I'm probably going to end up using these as rewards to myself for doing my homework and studying...("Okay, I'll finish up this homework, and then I'll watch Crash Course, got it? Okay, let's do this")
By the looks of it, I'd say he was eating a McDonald's burger. Though bland and uninspired, a McDonald's burger doesn't taste bad. Just, well, bland and uninspired. I still get some small degree of hollow enjoyment from them on the rare occasion I get one, though I add salt and pepper.
im just here for general knowledge. civilization 5 inspires me to learn more about us humans and what we have achieved. so many people watching this for tests hahaha.
Everyone is talking about AP tests Y’all I’m just trying to write a paragraph on why farming was so important on the development of civilization in 7th grade
+Luan Dinh Actually, I have a friend who took it as a freshman and yeah,it's a lot of work ,but it's worth the time and learning so much more to the class than the regular ones.
Every year in April and early May, a new group of AP students rise from their desks, their textbooks and notecards, and embark on a great journey through the Crash Course playlists. This phenomenon has been described by sociologists as 'The Great Crash Cram.'
