Before the era of the modern Halo universe, there was a dark era, dominated by a conflict that lead to the reset of the entire Halo universe - the Forerunner-Flood conflict. However, during this 1000 year galactic skirmish, an AI was responsible for defeating an entire galaxy's worth of Flood, buying the Forerunners enough time to end it all. Today, I want to tell the tale of this mysterious AI that saved the galaxy...

@@rpgeek22 mendicant definitely isn’t on the ring, his core is still on the dreadnaught that chief stole from high charity at the end of Halo 2, and the other fragment is still on the Ark according to the Halo 3 terminals. No idea where offensive bias is, but the clip at the end where they get mentioned was a conversation between forerunners from millions of years ago, they just played the audio over the cutscene to give some context for the people who don’t know any lore outside the games.

If it’s true that Chief is getting a new Cortana in Infinite, it’ll be a great parallel to Offensive Bias. The original Cortana is like Mendicant since she betrayed her creators (and maybe even has the logic plague? [fingers crossed]). So the UNSC/Halsey decide to “fight fire with fire” and create an equally powerful A.I that is designed to fight Cortana; just like the Forerunners did when creating Offensive!

We already have so many teases of offensive, you can watch hidden's latest video on analysis of the LEGENDARY ENDING of Infinite. We also have a picture from a 2019 trailer where we can see three circular lights reflecting on Master Chief's visor, in such a way it looks like offensive (They were red). It can also be Mendicant, but I'm sure we'll get something for sure. Only time will tell..

SPOILERS WARNING! After watching the Legendary ending of Infinite, I got extremely excited to hear Offensive Bias being mentioned. If it makes an appearance, it’ll be the first Forerunner AI, outside of the Monitors (but are they really just sentient robots more than AI), to make an appearance. I think OB could make a very interesting villain or ally.

I doubt something with as much data as Contender Class AI could fit in a microchip, and the energy it would need would drain MJOLNIR armor to the point of shutdown and trap Chief in it, I can see Chief having a communication chip with Offensive or Mendicant Bias though, they are the only ones even remotely capable of stopping the AI Army, without them there's no hope of defeating Cortana.

I’m not sure if we’ll see much of those two anymore. Mendicant is still on the Ark presumably, but he did say in the final Terminal where he messages Chief that he was “at the end of his life”. But Hidden has said that maybe Mendicant was the one to teleport the Spirit of Fire to the Ark (or maybe it was the Gravemind in High Charity?). As for Offensive, no one really knows. Maybe he is still on the Ark, or maybe-in some plot convenient way-he’s on Installation 7 in Halo Infinite.

Just one very small historical correction, the Maginot Line intent was to force the germans to invade belgium, so It was succesfull in its plan. The problem was that the french and british armies were not capable to stop the germans in a trech warfare inside belgium. Its like the great wall (s) of china. You want to direct the enemy to a place where you think you have a better chance to fight and winning. And just like the Maginot Line, sometimes the chineses lost theses battles and all hell broke lose.

I think the endless are what was used for both AI's (offensive and mendican) like how Human AI were scans of humans, maybe they used the Endless as there basis and that's how natrual rampantcy was avoided. The focus on history repeating itself with AI and the possibility offensive bias is still operating and never went rampant from time, makes me believe they have something different as their base. Perhaps the endless are not biological beings , or maybe not carbon based and thats why rings and time effect them differently and as such forerunners used and abused and might be the basis of how mendican bias was able to be corrupted by primordial in first place.
