Has Bethesda ever contacted you to be consultants for continuity or general lore checks? Also I feel like ES6 needs to have some kind of reference or homage to fudgemuppet. Maybe 3 historians/scholars named after all 3 of you. Or random encounters with some of the builds you've made.

It's crazy that the timeline of Tamriel literally has thousands of hours of lore videos to watch and we barely know anything still. And we know virtually nothing about Akavir. If we did the lore would literally have infinite topics to discuss. There's so much about the other continents that literally spans through a period of 7000 years and we don't even know 10% of the history of Nirn

The Elder Scrolls universe is expansive, but it's also less expansive than what one can be lead to believe. For example, consider a single reference to an elven king of an obscure isle near the somerset region, whom fought against say the psijic order during year xyz. There's the implication that there was a king of notable magical capacity, ruling over a kingdom of elves unrelated to the somerset isles kingdoms, with its own unique history, culture, people and magical traditions capable of rivaling the psijic. However none of that is actually illustrated, it is merely implied and left to the readers imagination to fill in the blanks.
@idipped2521
@idipped2521 3 года назад

A skeptical could say that Reman Cyrodiil made a deal with the Akaviri and gave them the influence they wanted over Cyrodiil in exchange for their support. Much of the story could have been made up later to legitimize Reman and cover the fact that he was working with the Akaviri.

I mean, considering they blew through Skyrim at a time when shouting was commonplace and the Nords still shared a lot of characteristics with their Atmoran ancestors, meaning exceptionally tall and strong men who can yell at walls to make them disappear, I would say that was the most shrewd political maneuver any Emperor of Cyrodiil has ever made. Assuming they weren't actually there in search of a Dragonborn, maintaining any kind of autonomy at that stage would be a miracle... Of course, he could have also just maxed out his speech skill by spamming admire over and over until they gave him what he wanted. It's chim, I ain't gotta explain shit.

Also the idea of Reman Cyrodiil saying “I am Cyrodiil come” kind of reminds me of Romulus from Roman history. Whoever wrote this story knows how things usually works on an Empire level. All that talk about conquering or not Black Marsh. I think that is one of the more believable conquests. A big battle and an oath of fealty afterwards, that was usually how it happened in world history. Even the romans, while exporting their bureaucracy let the conquered govern themselves, as long as they didn't go against roman law. The type of conquest they're thinking about just happened by the 17th-18th century onwards in world history and even in Tamriel it seems to be starting now with the Thalmor way of conquering.
@TobeWilsonNetwork
@TobeWilsonNetwork 3 года назад
Good point. Older battles of annihilation like the Night of Tears were uncommon, probably oaths of fealty and taking aristocratic soldiers ransom. I don’t want the Elder Scrolls to be suddenly filled with firearms but I’d be excited to see some evidence of the evolution of warfare in ES6. If the Thalmor conquests are roughly equivalent to idk the 7 Years War, maybe next game we see a world where one kingdom is developing a citizen-soldier army or early Napoleonic warfare.

I wouldn't want it unless they did it RPG style, like in Skyrim or Oblivion. I would be fine with the game having a smaller map like Morrowind as long as it was well-crafted and had good exploration/mechanics. Exploration is one of the best things about the Elder Scrolls series. Having complete linearity takes away from the mystery and open-endedness that makes the series for me. That was a big problem in Redguard. It just takes a lot of the excitement out of it. I don't think anyone is gonna complain about a TES RPG coming out as long as it has good mechanics, exploration, and gives us new lore while giving us new mysteries

My theory is that the Akaviri invaders during the Reman times were the last large group of men from Tsaesci who were coming to seek their Savior (AKA the Dragonborn/Reman). That would explain why Uriel V was met with such hostility, because he was fighting the snake men of Akavir and not the humans

I would love a podcast on the Nords and to talk about their rich history in tamriel/atmora but also on the Nordic Pantheon and how that plays out with the Skaal's religion of the All-maker. I really liked the Ulfric video that was posted a year ago, although I didn't 100% agree with the whole guilt part I definitely enjoyed the video and found that it was a very interesting take on the civil war. Perhaps a video idea or podcast could be a deep dive into the civil war in Skyrim? I find the topic very interesting especially due to the Stormcloaks, from playing the game and speaking to all the pro-Stormcloak families and NPC's its clear to me the civil war is not just about Talos or disliking the Thalmor (this is still important to the conflict none the less) but it is a wider war in both a physical and cultural sense. The Stormcloaks are battling the Empire and Thalmor on all fronts. The war is being waged culturally, physically and spiritually and the Nords are having a conflict of values, whether they should be more Imperial favoured or Nord favoured. There are interesting quotes from the Stormcloaks and Thalmor which support this, those being mainly from Ondolemar, Ulfric and Galmar. Anyway rambling and video ideas aside I'd just like to say that I very much enjoy these podcasts and I look forward to them everyweek, keep it up fudgemuppet crew.

Heck hrol sounds like a nord name, so thats probably the dragonborn link, Reman probably got atmorian blood on his fathers side. His "tribe of warriors" are probably descendants of the 500 that came with ysgramor. The descendants of the 500 probably travelled south from skyrim and settled in colovia and near the niben, with hrol growing up to become warlord in that tribe and conquering the bay that would one day be the imperial city.

There would need to be semblances of Japanese influence scattered around from ancient history but the new Western Akaviri/Tsaesi culture should be not based on anything from real life imo

@@Priceluked No... The Elder Scrolls is not a strictly about Nirn. Nor should it be. If it was we wouldn't have the writings of the great MK, or any of the info about Pyandonea, Akavir, Yokuda, etc. I don't think most TES fans want the series to be a contiguous in time series all set in Tamriel. Having a game set in a different era/dragon break/different continent such as Akavir would be an injection of youth into the franchise. It would open up so much more lore for us to discuss. Especially if it was a combination of both. A way for them to keep the mystery about Akavir would be to give us a game set in the distant, distant past so for us to learn more about Akaviri culture and have more lore to discuss while also not letting us know what's going on there in the 4th era or even in the last 1000 years before the fourth era. I don't see why you wouldn't want that

I've been spending lots of time around Skyrim's orcs recently, and a surprising number talk positively about the empire and the legion (lots of orcs both inside and outside of the strongholds have been in the legion), but I've never heard any mention the Stormcloaks. Still, I think an Orc who spends enough time around the Nords could easily come to side with them, especially since Nord culture values very similar things to Orc culture (bravery, strength, fighting skill). I doubt an orc would care much about Talos, though. They would join the Stormcloaks because they admire them, I think, rather than to fight the ban on Talos.

idk, sounds pretty cut that they conquered blackmarsh for all intents and purposes. with the political deals that followed. It just seems more in terms of vassalage rather than outright direct control with officials in every village. unless you want to argue semantics.

Are the years shorter in the Elder Scrolls universe than in real life? I ask because it seems like technology doesn't advance as quickly in the games as it has in real life. Alessia had founded an empire that lasted 2000 years and society still seems pretty primitive after all that time. Irl from 1AD to 2000AD a we had a massive technological jump. People from 1AD would think modern humans are demigods or something lol
@StarlitSeafoam
@StarlitSeafoam 3 года назад
I think magic is partially to blame for that. When you have levitation, water breathing, telekinesis, long distance communication spells (Uriel V's mages used them to communicate during his invasion of Akavir), etc. its less important to come up with technology to do the same things. I imagine Alteration, which focuses on the manipulation of the natural world, is actually quite an extensive magic school that would have way more applications than Skyrim shows us. But I also think that the cultures of Tamriel were far more magically and technologically advanced in the past, and that they have actually gotten less advanced with time. You can see this in things like the magica wells and what essentially are magica batteries that the elves of Cyrodiil created and that no one knows how to replicate. The Dwemer are another example; they were extremely advanced in their tonal architecture, automotons, and metalurgy, but, again, no one knows how to replicate it. Even the Argonians had a more advanced civilization in the past that built all the zanmeer scattered across Black Marsh.

Is it possible that Pelinal yelled, 'Reman', and that people knew about this when Reman Cyrodil was born? Maybe his parents were trying to capture the prophecy, or maybe he took the name on later. Similar to Jesus Christ undoubtedly knowing the myth of the messiah, as an educated religious Jew.

I think as we go on to TES6 and future games. We will see the Elder Council rule and possibly become a bit corrupt in their ways. I don't think we will see the end of the 4th era in TES6 nor the end of the Aldmeri vs. Empire greater plot. I believe we may establish more of a decentralized Empire in TES6 and then possibly for. TES7 we would see a return to Cyrodil and have a player character that maybe would become the next Emperor or great the ground work for it. We eventually would get larger games with new hardware. So since we established Cyrodil in TES4, then the next game that features it could maybe include Blackmarsh and some other areas that would not be ideal for a centralized game. Just a thought.

@@Dasnanortion I definitely feel you on that, which is why after TES 6 they should give us a breath of fresh air and give us a game that's set at least 1000 years before Skyrim, in another continent such as Akavir, or both if they want to keep Akavir mysterious. A good way to do that would be to make a game set before or after the Akaviri dragon war which actually happened before the dragon war in Tamriel. So if they made a game in Akavir in the First or Merethic eras we would get to learn more about Akaviri culture while still keeping it a mystery as to what's happened there since the first/merethic eras. I just hope it would actually be an RPG like Skyrim or oblivion and not an adventures game
@Dasnanortion
@Dasnanortion 3 года назад
@@idipped2521 to the Elder Scrolls developers, Akavir is a lazy excuse to add katanas to the game. That's what I think tbh. Having a game set in Akavir is almost impossible if the mindset of the Elder Scrolls team stayed the same as it is from the Skyrim developing time. Of course the idea of the Second Akaviri invasion changed my perspective but as many other fans, I feel that it is even more unnecessary and badly written since it didn't even make one single sense in the end and became an excuse for the very unlikely Ebonheart Pact. The appearance of the Akaviri town in Elsweyr DLC was the most of what we actually seen of Akavir and sets a good chance for us to see more even in the Elder Scrolls VI but it is very unlikely to be something as big as Akavir or as small as a tiny piece of it. As for the Merethic Era and Dragon War, I think they are treasure troves that can be done really well with decent writers backing the project especially if the old writers returned on that one. With the current writing quality especially from what seen in ESO, I don't expect anything more than a Hollywood-fantasy writing style, nothing like the Epicness of the olden days. Still, if you want to see some Akavir stuff, google a Skyrim mod project called "Mysterious Akavir", it hasn't been active lately thanks to the fact that most modders are focusing on Beyond Skyrim but there is a hope that it returns one day.
