I just leveled up our grocery list thanks to this. I always have a running list going and sometimes break it out, using one post it note per store, but most of the time it’s just a messy list that’s hard to read. But I changed that up to have a running list on the left and stores on the top, and I’ve checked multiple stores for things that could be purchased at more than one store. I think this is going to be a game changer for us. Thank you!!!
Also, it’s possible you said this and I missed it, but it’s also good for tracking cleaning. You could track seasonal tasks against month, but you can also track more frequent tasks against the room. Like dusting, sweeping, mopping against living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc…
This is 100% the best way I’ve found to use the Hobonichi weeks. The only problem is that the right side page line only separates out 6 boxes instead of 7 Actually your bringing up daily planning was really interesting to me, because I definitely don’t do well with scheduling hour by hour, but I like to be able to look back and see what my day looked like, which I could do with the Alistair method
Never thought about this method, people use this with habit tracking but only cross off at the end of the day. I put dots on the days I want to walk, or work from home, etc. I read every day, so I check off if I have read. I have a 194 day reading streak going on. I am going to hit my target for books, even with my thesis work. Love it when your videos pop up. I watch them as soon as I can.
I was taught the Alistair Method in last year of High School. I graduated in 1974! This Alistair guy DID NOT invent this method. This is by no means a new idea.
Hi Robert. "This Alastair guy", of the Alastair Method here. I was never taught anything like this and did think up and create this without any input from anyone else. If it's similar to something else, fine, but the fact is that I doodled about to put this idea together to solve a problem for myself, shared it, was then asked to share it wider with the Bullet Journal community because people found it useful, and then when Ryder Carol asked what it was called, and I said I didn't call it anything, he suggested I just name it after myself. That's how it came about, no copying, plagiarism or anything similar that you might be suggesting. So I respectfully disagree with you.
I mean the alistair method is essentially an adapted Gantt chart - not disputing that you added something original to the pre-existing idea but it’s disingenuous to say it was completely original- it’s not exactly something you can copyright
Are you still doing the one book July challenge this year? Will you be posting which one planner (paper) that you would use in combination with your digital planning?
Can you upload or do another video with way more examples because you only show it for a flash of a second and I would just be much more helpful if you just staring directly at the content and did a voiceover
lol, me and you love trying all kinds of productivity techniques. I am prototyping my pages for next year's planner, went back into my saved files to refresh my memory on the Alastair technique, and here you are!! For me, Alastair is better with dates/months/days/weeks thingies, but I can't see how to combine with GTD without duplicating. GTD doesn't assign dates but more like actions. Things like Projects and Someday are very useful. Do you have any ideas? I think I may do a weekly Alastair task but I am wondering what it could look like for a monthly on a B6, not enough room to list up to 31 numbers and the activities. Am I overthinking lol?
I feel like Alastair method is already used in the GTD method to a degree for example with next actions but like you said without dates! You could incorporate the date just at the front or back of each listed item? I think the best way for Alastair method is the rolling weekly like you said! B6 is a great size but I also see people using it the weeks or even passport tn size!

@@MomYePlans Excel? Any table of content with 2 entries- column and rows? Math when you study economy or management? Here you work in school with matrices starting about 5 grade without the whole theory behind - just the practical application. Math is not my strongest point. But I always enjoyed to work with spreadsheets. Every table of content is a very simple matrix because it indicates the chapter and the page the chapter begins. I am just copying the start of the article of the English Wikipedia- there you can start to go a little further …..
