Making our award winning bikes better. The Vitus Escarpe and Sommet platforms have
been at the top of our MTB range since their introduction in 2012 and our goal has never changed. Make high performance mountain bikes that are capable of winning races, bike tests, weekend mates races & Strava KOMS at a price point that makes sense to the end consumer.
Discover the new Sommet & Escarpe @ www.vitusbikes.com
Carbon First
By designing our new Sommet and Escarpe platforms in tandem we decided early on that we were going to focus on a Carbon front triangle only with a aluminium rear triangle. This gives the perfect blend of stiffness and compliance. We increased the tube volume in the front triangle to improve stiffness, giving better track holding and stability through the full size range.
Updated Geometry
We have updated the geometry to give a more confidence inspiring ride. Key changes are slacker head angles and lower BB drop on both the Escarpe and Sommet platforms. We have also steepened the effective seat tube angle and made it progressively steeper as you go up the size range. This ensures that each frame size has an optimal sagged saddle position with no compromise.
By measuring saddle height at saddle lay back we looked at the position of the saddle relative to the bottom bracket to ensure when the bike was in sag you had an optimal pedaling position. The reason we steepened the seat angle on the larger frame sizes was to ensure that the saddle layback wasn't too far behind the bottom bracket.
Adjustable Flip Chip
Both platforms come with an adjustable flip chip allowing you to increase head angle by + 0.5 degrees and lift the bottom bracket by 6mm. Giving you the option to tweak your ride depending on the terrain you're riding.
Improved Suspension Design
We have gone back to a fixed lower shock mount to allow for our new flip chip, this also allowed us to refine the suspension kinematics. An improved consistent progressive leverage curve gives more consistent feel, supports and damping.

Are they good bikes? Looking at the Marin and these as their value to the likes of trek specialized etc is insane
@lakapaka5151
@lakapaka5151 2 года назад
To be honest it is my first enduro bike and it is great! I have also looked at Marin briefly but i quickly gave it up as the components you get for that money are not better than what you get on the Vitus leaving the carbon aside. I still struggle to find any better alternatives for this pricepoint. As you would imagine the bike feels really smooth and can definitely take more than i throw at it. The shifting is smooth as butter and i haven't had to adjust it scince i bought it, the brakes are amazing, however the rear brake pad was infected with oil along with the whole inside of the caliper, so i had to get new pads and sand down the rotor (im pretty sure it wasn't from me, but hey, i haven't heard nobody with the same problem so is allright). Suspension is good but i was expecting the front fork to be a just little more responsive to small bumps but it didn't bother me at all (apparently fox38 is even stiffer in this regard). The fork is similar with what you'd get on the Trek slash 8 for £3600 which only has another settup option option... I was struggling to decide between this bike and the Saracen Ariel Pro (180mm "park" bike) which was in stock and is made of aluminium as i wasn't sure i wanted carbon. The Saracen had nice Suspension and a Deore/Xt drivetrain (which was weird) but at 16 kg it was too heavy for me and it was also £300 more. Then i wanted to go with a Propain but after i found out about the import taxes i returned to vitus. I kept looking for other bikes as Vitus is a rather small company with little video reviews on this model and i taught it would have some major downsides due to the price. But after more research, at that pricepoint it only made sense for me to "roll the dice" and get the Vitus as there was only one left in stock, and it was the right choice. I feel like the other companies justify a higher price with the scale of the company along with a more extensive history and also Lifetime insurance (In trek's case) and in some cases more attention to detail. I posted some comparisons on sites between a treck and a Vitus and people choosing Trek justified it by saying that the company is bigger and probably customer service is better, but that's about it, most were choosing Vitus. So I don't regret buying this bike and i definitely recommend it. If carbon is not something you really want you can probably find some bikes with similar parts or even slightly better parts but idk for £2900 it us definitely at the top as the carbon does make it light for a 170mm enduro bike.

@@lakapaka5151 yeah tbh I could probably get away with a smaller travel bike though want the bigger for the 5% of riding I’ll utilise it for. I just find it hard to justify the money on the trek, pivot, Santa Cruz etc when the parts I’ll probably want to upgrade would most likely cost more than a frame when tbh for the riding I’ll do I’ll probably never come close to breaking one. I’m happy with alloy though like you said this even has carbon and better spec than the Marin. I’ll just have to try force one. Seem hard to come by in Australia

I'm brand new to MTBing, (and really bad at it) due to losing income from pandemic i'm not in a position to purchase a better bike yet. (currently riding entry level hard tail). I really want a Vitus full sus! What is the max fork travel if i were to upgrade at a later date on your mythique and the escarpe! i might be able to get a mythique cr but i would like to know if a 150 fork is possible thanks

Please make Vitus Bikes available in the Philippines. Because people here want to compete in events but all have a tight budget to afford some of the high end stuff available here. So please make Vitus available here so that poor people like me have a chance to compete against bigger brands and show them what Vitus is all about.

Excellent looking bike, but you’ll be lucky to own one due to terrible supply and demand issues.. I managed to order a medium escarpe 27 cr through chain reaction, got the finance approve and the order was being processed. but three days later chain reaction cancelled the order due to “stock discrepancies”. Now I have a loan for nothing. So angry right now. 😡
