So its now a tiny bit more heavy, has a tiny bit more powerful, a tiny bit bigger and a whole lot uglier? You really know how to keep your fans happy to not have waited for the new model

Subaru, I sincerely hope you're reading all these comments with an open mind as a learning opportunity. As a previous 09 WRX owner and current 2020 STI owner, you completely lost me on this new generation. You've just abandoned over 20 years of enthusiasts who have defended the brand and the WRX for years because we loved them. That's gone now. This new 2.4 engine makes 6 more horsepower and 14 more lb ft than my 09 WRX with the EJ engine. You've had 2 entire new engine redesigns to get this right, and you freaking blew it. Absolutely everyone was expecting something around 290+ HP just to make this car competitive again. And it's so much more beyond the engine output. The styling is incredibly polarizing to put it lightly, and your options packaging strategy has to make the least amount of sense out of any car in my recent memory. Bundling all your enthusiast targeted options with your CVT transmission on a car that sells 75% manual is just impossible to understand. Honestly, it feels like you don't even want to build the WRX anymore. This is a bigger train wreck than the 08 WRX. This model isn't beyond saving, but find someone who actually knows anything about what the hell this car means to the customers who buy them and listen to them. If not, it pains me to say this but this car deserves to fail. I don't even care about the new STI anymore as you've completely lost my trust in understanding why I bought my WRX and STI in the first place.

I really don't get what Subaru is thinking with this. A really attractive car with a significant power bump would have lit a fire under legions of enthusiasts. Instead, they took styling cues from the Crosstek and Pontiac Aztec, and gave it basically the same power as the previous generation car.

As a Subaru Ambassador, I love this brand. But this is the cherry on top for me. It’s been very difficult to be enthusiastic about a brand where this happens. The subaru culture alone isn’t going to cut it when you take the WRX, which is already a niche group, and mainstream it to appeal to the masses. I’m very and truly disappointed. Great example is the GT trim. Why would you offer everything enthusiasts want, but keep it only CVT? Enthusiasts love the manual and your buyers are generally 75% manual buyers.

I’ve worked in automotive manufacturing for over 10 years. I can tell you now, Subaru will have to either paint the wheel arches & rear bumper before the WRX launches or do a refresh in 2 years.

Been a WRX/STI Enthusiast for years. I have confirmed that my 21' STI will be the last one I will own. Sad times.

I've loved Subaru since I was a young kid. I was mesmerized by the body lines and of course the hood scoop. When I finally had the money to be able to afford a new car I chose the 17 WRX! and fell in love. After that I got an 17 STI.... I lived and breathed Subaru! I was looking forward to purchasing the next gen and was absolutely disappointed. To say I have been let down is an understatement. It hurts when you believe so much in a company that has brought you so much joy in the previous years. To me it feels like Subaru gave up and just put something together and expected us to go along with it. I am sorry but not only will I not be purchasing the next gen WRX. I am highly considering other vehicles. Subaru, you dropped the ball on this one.

Easily the biggest letdown in years. This is the best Subaru can do since 2015? 3hp and 0ftlb despite 25% more engine capacity? Horrible unpainted plastic making the car look like a lifted monstrosity. Back and front bumpers look like it was in an accident. SPT is CVT, and CVT is trash. I don't think STI can save this car. It will probably be an even bigger disappointment. I mean, that thing is what a year off? And for what and why is it that far off? Nothing will change. Show it. If the STI can't cut it, it's VW or Nissan getting my money. If Subaru doesn't show the STI soon, I bet it's because it's a failure as well.

I was so excited cause THIS was supposed to be my graduation gift to myself and i’m like … nah LOL

So for a while, I was on the fence about the 2022 WRX when it came to tech, styling, and its specs from engine to handling. I quietly waited and studied. After trying, and pulling the trigger purchasing a base model 6mt, I was THOROUGHLY blown away. Coming from owning EVO X and FR-S alike, and each having a "soul", this one very much stands out in looks, but performs in such a positive way I can't quite explain... It has that Soul. Cheers, Subaru.

You had 7 whole years to redesign a new car and it came out like this…

This was hard to watch… Subaru you are so disconnected to what your customer want.. you made the car look like a Crosstreck. The 2.4 motor is a huge let down, I don’t care what kind of power curve it has, 271 hp is class loosing. Take note from Nissan and their new Z. They actually listened to what their customers wanted and gave them a car to be proud of.

Its incredible how a 3 CYLINDER toyota yaris gr is making 260hp and this thing with one more cylinder is only making 271hp.

Cool so you gave it a larger motor but kept the power the same. And the adjustable suspension on comes with the garbage cvt.

Finally bought my own 2021 wrx in june, my very first wrx. Looks like it will be my last.

I love how they sneak in "Eye-sight now available" and in small print "only with the automatic (CVT) transmission." Of course they know they sell about 75% of these cars with the manual, which means it is essentially still not available on this model.

Love Subaru's have had them. Buddies have had them. Miss my manual and was even thinking of getting rid of what I am driving now. But this reminds me so much of the Pontiac Aztek. Front is great but back is so ugly. So much plastic. Just so much unpainted plastic and horrible roofline.

This concept look came out in 2019 as a Subaru viziv WRX. So I am not surprised by this look. Look it up n see for yourself. Can someone a viziv WRX body kit for this

Thousands of “confirmed buyers” are canceling reconsidering their options rn. This is the biggest let down of a reveal for car enthusiasts this year. Looks like GR Corolla, civic SI and any other sport oriented 4door vehicle will be a better option than this. I cannot denie, this is very disappointing. They need to paint all the unpainted plastic and tone down that fuggly rear bumper/diffuser
