Such a high resolution for a laptop is totally unnecessary, because very few games will run at this resolution in a satisfactory way, and those that do will consume the battery charge, it would be infinitely better to have a FULL HD OLED display without borders, because this one It would give a great balance and beauty to the laptop
You can either play Cyberpunk on the Steam Deck for $400 or play it a little better and for a little longer on the Kun for $1200. Really difficult choice here.
Yeah. i mean, I pay $800 for the aya neo air 1s, but at least that modelo offers a more powerful and it's a real portable handheld not like the steam deck, so for me pay a little more than a rog ally for a real portable device was worth, but with the aya kun if you want a big device with trackpads then you just can buy the steam deck or even better, the lenovo legion go Edit: and no kid, you can't play Cyberpunk on the base steam deck... You can't install it there, the storage of the $400 ($425 with tax) is so small to install Cyberpunk there. you need to buy the 252gb model or buy and put a ssd
Stop comparing the prices that's not the main this that sets these apart start think for your self and name other reason the deck is better? Like just one reason
@@DienerNoUtawhat are you even talking about the one you bought for 800$ would be the last gen one that gets beat in all games by the deck unless it's over 50 watts then it beats it like you just fanboying?
Price? SteamOS? Infinitely better software support? Price? Better low watt performance which translates to better battery? Much lower price? Much lighter weight? Better ergonomic? Bigger community? Did I mention the price? I mean sure the Kun is cool, but at the end of the day it's literally just using the same APU as every other handheld currently out right now, if you think it's worth the $1200 price then good for you, most would disagree though.@@itsquiwi8780
Despite how beautiful and powerful some of these machines are, the pricing and questionable outlook on support make me wary of them. Of course Valve can make vast improvements on their current handheld offering, but so far it's been a pretty sweet experience and it's a single platform compared to the handful of devices that are coming out from other companies.
To be fair on Aya, I don't think their support has been that bad yet. Though I think Steamdeck and Valve are going to have the largest chunk of the handheld PC market for the forseeable future thanks to their stellar support and dedication to a longer product cycle.
Question of time, next gen will put these to the test, with the new 8000's CPUs coming out, these will either be obsolete or force to drop their pricing by $100-$200, because the new ones will eventually replace them for the exact same price as these are right now. I've seen this before, look at every 5000's handheld, they are still out there for budget price.
I know that all these companies are "repurposing" some leftover tablet displays, but it bugs me to see 1440/1600p displays running on iGPUs. My DREAM handheld would be this Kun - with an 8 inch 16:9 1080p OLED HDR 120Hz (adaptive between 24-120) display and the body shrunk a bit accordingly; and yeah, 32GB RAM is more than enough. 4TB storage is amazing, if it's at the full Gen4 speed ofc. And you have a killer handheld 🤤 (lowkey can't wait for next gen APUs)
$1000 and you still have just 60hz on an lcd screen is crazy I could have gotten two steam deck oleds and they BOTH WOULD HAVE COME WITH THEIR OWN CASES. No real value besides the cameras and I seen the resolution is terrible so what is the purpose of this, if I already have a steam deck ??
Hi im a producer for 808 mafia and more and i use my steam deck for music production. i hit 70% when i make melodies (no drums yet lol ) so i need a new device or upgrade. what do u think i should do, upgrade storge ram and screen in steam deck or just get the legion go, or even this device u just did lol PLEASE lmk!! blessings!
For the prices best to wait till new Apus come out. Like I'm sure when 9000 series handhelds are out they're gonna still be at the same price as their predecessors while offering better performance
@madgodzilla12465 The deck itself is not great value. For only $100 more than the top tier Steam deck, you can buy a Rog Ally Z1 extreme with a much better cpu/gpu, faster storage and ram, much better all around display with vrr and an OS that supports almost every peripheral and game/game library.
@LeeLee-fi7mx the top tier Ally costs $500? Unless your also talking about the top tier Steam Deck, then yeah they are a ripoff but if you get the base model and get an $80 ssd it isn't bad. You could get a used Ally but you can get a used steam deck as well.
the reason why their prices are higher is because they make 100 percent of their profits off the hardware alone. so it is in their best interest to support their own hardware because its the only way for them to get repeat customers and make more money. otherwise it would be a one time purchase and they would not make another dime from that time on.
I'm not buying ANY of these systems that aren't sold from bestbuy. Steam Deck was my only exception. Any other system that i can't put my geek squad total tech protection on , I'll pass... It's what saved me with the asus ally THREE TIMES i had to switch that system out and once the Legion go got into my hands, I was able to get my $760 bucks back in store credit for the Ally. I'm quite content with the legion at this point. As far as this console on the video, I would never pay that amount without some protection on it.
I can imagine a future without AMD/Radeon and that is $1000+ consoles with mediocre performance and Intel Iris handheld PCs that cost even more with below decent performance
I wish this was a windows machine. I think the 64gb is overkill, so I'd probably get the 32GB / 2TB model. That said, the price point is pretty steep, so I might just end up going for the ROG Ally X, which seems like great value for it's price point.
When testing Linux distros for handhelds you really need to show and talk about the inputs and controller emulation. Do the trackpads show up in Steam Input? Does the gyro work well? Are the back buttons remappable? These are some of the most useful features in SteamOS and would serve as the best reasons to use these distros. You're leaving useful, high quality content on the floor.
you guys just better get a used or open box rog ally z1 extreme white. while the rog ally x hype is still high. Lol ( just a reminder : Fallout 4 runs at ultra 60 fps. Thats insane. )
The avarage guy now ITS EXPENSIVE rich Guy PEASENT ITS CHEAP 10 YEARS LATER avarage guy when new handheld comes (SAME PRICE SAME HANDHELD AS THIS) WOW ITS CHEAP THE RICH GUY THIS WAS CRAP
Legion Go did a much better job to have it turn into a tablet with better bezels to boot! More business friendly than just a gaming machine. HOWEVER, this has better specs especially with the ram which I need for my apps. To bad Aya missed the mark by a mile with the outside industrial design. They should have been more creative. :(
So expensive not worth it. I do not understand why these companies do not make there products as cheap as the rog, steam deck, legion go, msi claw. Seriously there just as good fr and can play anything. U want more fps get a pc. Praying 1700 for this no I’m good. Ya it’s done but I’ll stick with my rog
Reviews a 1200$ gaming handheld and says the screen is working... 😂😂 These guys man... seriously.. The other day I saw a reviewer reviewing a 2500$ laptop and he said how the laptop was built well and there were no creaks or screen wobble...
Valve should be praud, after 2yrs they released Steam Deck, other companies still trying to compare theirs products with Deck 😅 Ok we all know 2yrs is vast amount of time and there are more powerful machines oit there but Tbh with all you guys ... I have tested most of them and still Im staying with SD Oled ❤
If its true that it's a beast, why not test it with high graphic quality, with FSR performance and low settings, I don't think I can see the greatest potential of this device, knowing that the price is quite expensive. What's the point of upgrading with the handheld we already have if we still play it with low quality?
Have a hard time taking ETA serious because I have never heard this guy talk objective about these devices. He appeals to much to the companies instead of the community, He no Phawnx
@@jonathansatizabal2686 yea, I kinda gave it a slack and it doesn't support actual Steam version. I need to update it, but hope Valve will release SteamOS publically sooner
Mr. ETA PRIME, can we see more games please? I don't want to see the "base" games, I don't own those. I want to see the games we play on steam, just cause 3-4, mad max, killing floor, GTA V, snow runner, etc PLEASE?
I'm just curious, what's really is the point of the left trackpad? 64GB is overkill...... hehe, I just upgraded my Laptop to 64GB and wuv it! With 32-64GB you might as well get a external GPU and my this your home system also. Damn, those specs on RAM and storage are sweeeeet! I was looking at the Legion Go and want to see if it might be possible to do a 32GB RAM mod like the SteamDeck, So this pretty much has the same CPU but newer and more wattage. The price is a bite much ever tho I like the minimum RAM and the 2280 m.2 so I might have to stick with the Legion Go.
You have got to show something like the OneXFly with ChimeraOS. That would be pretty interesting. Also unrelated to any console but do you see FPS differences when switching to linux?
If this came out around June, earlier this year, I probably would've bought it. $1000 isn't bad considering everything this packs. 16GB of RAM shouldn't have been the base ram config though.
the lower spec models of these handhelds don't make allot of sense if its something you do not want to take apart nor have the availability to replace components like ram. the problem is that the price is too high for allot of people but the reason for that is the hardware being sold is the only way for aya neo or GPD to make money after the product is sold they only make money from Customer service, repairs and parts. they don't own a software store like valve or epic. they don't make money off monthly subscription either.
Personally it's too big. 7 Inch is ok but for me 6 Inch is the sweet Spot. Afterall I'm using a handheld that should fit almost everywhere from pocket to bag
Well 54W TDP compared to the Deck's 15W TDP. That allows for so much more in terms of scope when it comes to pushing the device. That's the one thing I dislike about the Deck and certain APUs, is the limited power envelopes.
54 watt is kinda pointless though. It's diminishing returns. Performance does not increase that much at all at 54 watts. You're basically wasting a ton of energy for minimal to no gains.
That’s the big question… I am not sure if there is an easy answer to. It can come down to needs and preferences. The ASUS is the smallest and most portable of them. A bit less ergonomic from my experience. More hand fatigue after a while. They have the SW situation figured out, so it’s a pretty smooth user experience. The Legion Go is the most ergonomic I think. I haven’t held the Ayaneo, but reports of issues due to touchpad placement are common, otherwise it’s good too. The Go does offer some unique functionality the others do not, and it has the largest screen. They still need to refine the SW though. The Ayaneo Kun has more RAM available and a nice screen… But is the performance any better? I don’t know, but I have doubts. I am curious as to how the extra RAM of the Kun does for gaming performance. I have a preorder in for the 32gb version. But I do think it is a bit pricey for what it is. RAM prices are not that high, to be $500 more than something like the Legion Go and ASUS… I picked up the Legion Go, and I am enjoying it a lot, will likely cancel the preorder for the Ayaneo. I don’t think many games will need a ton of RAM allocated to the GPU, with many showing under 3gb used at playable settings, and others not going over 4gb. A test I seen of the Go showed that 4gb was enough to get the most FPS, more did not help, or would actually cause a crash if the game needed more traditional RAM usage. 3gb was actually only a couple fps less than 4gb for the games tested.
Basically identical to the steamdeck in terms of input. 7840HS/780M SoC. Good linux support. This is a true "high end" Steamdeck competitor. Loses a few points for the massive screen resolution but you can configure that I spose.
Please start adding a section for fan noise. I've just returned the Legion Go (and the Ally before that) because of the high pitched fans. It's almost impossible to get a review where the noise is actually talked about!
If only it had Oculink. If it had, I would have gone for this thing... but docked VR play is going to be a big part of my experience, so I went with something that had Oculink.
If I recall, it was either ETA or The Phawx that did a comparison between oculink and thunderbolt on a handheld and the difference in performance in games being displayed to an external monitor was not very much. I think the fast ram and high tdp on this device would make up for the lack of oculink.
@@LeeLee-fi7mx It depends on the game... Also Quest 3 (and I'm betting others) stream wirelessly to the headset now, which means data going from GPU back to CPU. Also 1% lows and stutter matter a lot more in VR, and those were significantly impacted by thunderbolt compared to Oculink.
Humm No. Actually. This thing is still a million times better and every way. But personally the way that it is most important to me is that valve went ahead and came out with a refresh. And did not include Hall based analog sticks.!!! So the OLED steam deck is literally a waste of everyone's time. Especially valves. As well as yours and mine. So yeah it is an ouch. But it's totally for Valve. And for you and your comment.! 👍👍
As a power user with not nearly as much time for this stuff, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on Bazzite. I've been testing it and have had a pretty good experience, but your comparison vs ChimeraOS would be very valuable!
If you find out how to get customer support from Ayaneo, please let the rest of us know how. The BIOS update bricked my unit & now they delete my support tickets instead of actioning them
I play rdr2 on the deck at 30fps and have no problem with it. Would this run rdr2 at a higher resolution at 30 fps? The display on the deck isn’t doing my favorite game justice
