That same cooked Lions team you are referring to played at the MCG the year before against the Swans in the Preliminary Final and went on to thrash the Magpies by 50 points in the Grand Final who had far more rested players than they did. That excuse simply just simply works at all.
@@taliamason7986 lol youre literally comparing ENERGY LEVELS of the same team a YEAR apart..... teams peak at different times of the year, the dogs were flying all year in 2021 but crashed near the end. they recovered to make the grand final but 4 weeks of travel in 4 finals and the second half of the grand final they were cooked. swans this year, unbeatable first half of the season now..... there are NUMEROUS interviews with lions players about the 2004 finals series and they all say that the increased travel had a HUGE effect on the team. Port also played their final a day earlier giving them a days extra rest. If you play footy you understand how crucial the little things are including an extra days rest, why do you think clubs complain about 5 day breaks between matches? If the players themselves are saying it made a difference who are you to say otherwise?
