I've known Gregg's oldest son Michael Sean Allman for going on 8 years. I travel all over the Southeast United States doing shows. Michael looks and sounds just like his Daddy. He's very particular how his music is played, especially when he does Whipping Post , Statesboro Blues, and this great song, Soulshine.y wife and I danced to this at our wedding reception. Yes, Michael sang it. 3 years ago I lost my Daddy. He was my best friend. His theory on life was hand in hand with the words in Soulshine. It's hard for me to hear it without getting a test in my eye. My dad never heard this song, but he loved it. R I P Daddy, I'm letting my Soul Shine
Only thing better than the three of them together is the three of them plus Oteil on bass with them. Oteil is a monster player (now playing with Dead & Company) who gets overlooked sometimes.
Those lyrics coming out of Gregg Allman's mouth are too perfect. He sings them like he's been singing them since before he was born. Hearing him sing Soulshine make me feel so good.
The first thing that stands out about this song is obviously the brilliant guitars. But the more and more I listen to it, the more I appreciate the bass as well. Wish the bassist got some more love from the camera. He earned it

Greg had a classic blues voice but Duane gave us southern blues rock. Just listen to his guitar backing of Wilson Puckett’s Hey Jude. One talented family that left us too soon. You saw them play, that’s a memory worth keeping.

Gregg has been off booze and ciggs 8 years. His voice is back to being strong, raw, in control. He looks good, the Brothers sound good, and it's a great song.

Soulshine's probably the best song that the modern line-up of the Allman Brothers Band have ever recorded, and it actually hold's up with their catalog of classic's from the late 60's and early 70's when Duane and Berry were still alive, and Dickey was still with the band!! JMO.

I saw the Allman Brothers, it had to be around 1973, I was about 15. They came out and played a couple of songs and then had some sort of technical difficulties and were down about an hour. When they came back on they played until 3:30 in the morning. We stayed for the whole thing.

Old school brothers fan here - Duane was the most soulful, heartfelt, inspired player I every heard.....skydog....this line up though approachs the orginal.
Been a long time since Greg Allman's voice has sounded this strong. I heard him say in a television interview that for years, he always did a double shot of brandy just prior to walking out on stage. But he said that he had quit doing that for sometime now. And that stopping the brandy had made his voice much stronger again. And Warren Haynes, it goes without saying, is a truly gifted singer and picker!!

I'm 76 years old and married to the same woman for 57 years ,together we spent our youth following the greatest bands like the Allman Brothers BB King & Frank Zappa ,both my wife & myself have a deep fondness for bands with extensive percussion sections like Allman & Zappa , losing Frank hit us hard but losing Greg made us feel old overnight ,whats really sad for us is unless young kids are musicians like us they'll never get a hard on for the 20th centuries greatest bands like these cats ,I feel 120 years old after watching this .
today is the day that we lay Greg Allman to rest in GA .... GOD SPEED & thanks for all the years of great music for the ears.. Rest in peace my friend.. you will be missed dearly.. let us all keep our soul shinging.. on him..
