That is a classic Finnish puukko. They are used to all woodworking tasks, skinning and so on. Here in Finland, its very common to carry an axe with puukko when bushcrafting in wilderness. "Why not just carry a big knife?" Because big knife really isn't that good for anything, even if it can do it. If you want to split wood and make logs, axe is best. And when you want to make feathersticks and carve, maybe skin an animal and prep food, puukko is best. So thats what I carry, a puukko and an axe. And you shouldn't be affraid of rat tail tang strenght. If properly made, it can endure even a grown mans weight standing on the handle. I know you have tested it in the past 😉. And about that handle: curly birch is used here alot because its toughness. It doesent crack like normal wood, because its inner structure is so curly, hence the name. Congrats of your 300k followers, may there be more to come! I love your channel and videos!

Ahti, usually have a little harder HRC than other local knife makers, here are the specs for the carbon blade: 80crv2 : HRC 59, CO-83, Mn-0.57, VO-20, Cr-0.60. they are popular with wood carving especially the smaller Tikka. they keep a good working edge and sharpen easy. Sheath stays tight for as long as you need it, handle has no issues if it is used for carving and general bushcraft tasks, never had one get lose or have any issues. light weight, easy to carry.

There are plenty of affordable knives like this from Finland. The blade of this knife is an ordinary 80crv2 blade from Laurin Metalli, 90% of small knife manufacturers from Finland use their blades.

I recommend using a river stone or pebble as a wedge, it’s silkier and offers less resistance when splitting the wood. It’s also sturdier! Recommend trying 😊

I have a Leuku and 2 of the small 'Woodpecker' from the Ahti brand for years now. The Leuko obviously more expensive but the small 'Woodpecker' about half the price. They make a great combo for the outdoors but obviously the small puukko also as back up or primary fixed blade if you just need to carve and slice smaller stuff.

I challenge your opinion guys ... Best budget bushcraft knife for me is the FLISSA Scandi bushcraft knife I did a simple table top review BUT ive used it and the D2 seems legit. Only $25 D2 steel and has a functional leather sheath. The grind geometry is wicked good and id say it works better than my Garberg ...Also the freaking spine cut my thumb open its crazy sharp. I'd love to see you guys review them. They have green micarta, black g10 and wood handled versions. G10 looks the best . Anyways thats my budget bushcrafter of the year . Oh and its full tang baby !

Nice boyz, the only time I ever had moose meat it was given to me by a friend who got a hunting permit abroad and had to ship all the meat back. Consequently, they didn't hang the animal long enough and the meat was extremely bloody haha but delicious. Nice looking knife :) it's not better than a DBK knife tho, also got the BPS Bushmate after a quick sharpening it is very sharp, just working out how I'm going to modify the beautiful leather sheath to hold the knife upside down.
