Too young to go. At 65 I'm starting to feel vulnerable. Of course we are just passing through, thankful to have people like ARA making the task more bearable.
The Rock along with Anger and Tears will bring tears to your eyes. Wonderful music ranks up there with Vince Gill's Go Rest High on That Mountain and George Jones' He Stopped Loving her today.
For years, every time I listen to the ARA, it's like the first time. I enjoy the music even more as I get older. I just want to say thank you Russell and to your ARA.
This is one of the greatest songs they ever did..Memories memories memories...what a great era in time...Slow dancing with your baby ..good music ..good people..good times!! What happen to the good old days! Now look what going on..People getting crazy...forgetting their roots and upbringing..and causing havoc! Bring the old days back, I say! :)
ARA was the best band that should have been HUGE. If they debuted now the Americana/Roots crowd would go CRAZY over them. And to think the white bread version of Third Rate Romance became a hit instead of their version!
Mikey D: you're absolutely RIGHT ON. Amazing Rhythm Aces should have been much bigger than they were in the heart-and-soul of American listeners. Generations later, we're finally awakening to that. Let your local DJ know. I'm telling mine! Their music was some of the best ever released. Younger kids need to know - and hear it.
I just happened on this~~~I thought Leroy Parnell wrote the song and his version is the only one I had ever heard before now.....this is amazing!!!!! Thank you!!!
Good to know you're listening to the 'original' now, Paula! This is what most of us have been talking about for generations. Get the word out to you local DJ on your fave local radio station. ~Bob in Tucson, AZ
Tony Phillips Tony, It's been snowing here in Idaho about 3 wks straight. If it weren't for your videos of Russell & the band to listen to everyday, I'd go crazy. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Tony Phillips Have you listened to the interview w/Russell on the Jake Feinberg radio show? so interesting w/some Muscle Shoals music about 30mins into it. Also the Saturday Night Live ARA guest-1980 5th season, thought you might like that if you haven't seen it.
I don't know, but his girlfriend scared me back in t 2005. I said "i love Russell, and she said "So do I and I backed about 10 steps." She must have been over 6 feet tall.
Jesse, this may be a coincidence but I have been emailing a lady Darlene Marshall at The Aces email...who has sent pics & relayed a note from me to Russell asking some questions, would this be his girlfriend? I thought she was in charge of his fan mail/secretary to the Aces or?? do you know? thx for the info
Judy, I know he was once but don't think so now? He's so private..nothing on Twitter or Facebook from him, would love to ask about the inspiration for some of his songs. Billy has some comments about songs but never about Russell.
i understand and respect that..but i do want to know.met him once a very long time ago, will again if they are near bossier city,la.oh i might drive a while to see them.best music ever love them
