It's a good movie I like some scenes here and there and I love the sewer fight scene with spiderman and lizard definitely the best part in the entire movie in my opinion
To be honest I love The amazing Spider-Man Andrew Garfield his hands down my favorite Spider-Man and this is my favorite Spider-Man movie. Angie Garfield Spider-Man is just like me in a lot of ways I'm a skateboarder I like girls have a little attitude here and there but I'm still trying to grow this guy is so relatable
@@Ilikecats731 maybe tasm 1 but even I can say that tasm 2 follows the same mistakes that spider man 3 did with way too much filler and not enough constancy There are also good parts of it like the bright suit and the qwen death and again Andrew buy still mistakes that make it on the bottom on a tier list now Tasm 1 can be said to be the best Spider-Man movie due date
That scene where flash apologizes is one of the best scenes in any spidey movie. So subtle and powerful. I agree Andrew definitely brings the best acting out of every Spider-Man actor!
Andrew Garfield is definitely my favourite too, I like the more sassy, douchey take on the character, he at times is really dark and the whole motivation for him to become Spider-Man was out of vengeance, that he slowly figures out through helping people he could become a better person, almost like a self-redemption!
I actually like how Ben dies in this film. Sure it's a bit clunky but what i like about it is that Ben isn't a bystander that just gets shot, he actively tries to help and take the gun off the robber (who apparently was meant to be revealed as Cleatus Cassidy later down the line) which shows that when he gave 'responsibility' talk to Peter it wasn't empty words but he actually lives by it.
Finally!!! I thought I was the only one who thought about this, people have called me crazy for this statement. Good to know someone else has that same thought
I am loving all these spider man reviews. Ever since the chucky series review and Halloween, I have loved hearing this man talk about his opinions for longer then 8 minutes
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is the best love interest out of any Spider-Man movie. I teared up at the end of Amazing Spider-Man 2. I also love the chemistry of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. The Amazing Spider-Man movies are definitely my most rewatched Spider-Man movies!
I personally liked this movie. It's obviously not perfect, but it is a decent movie that's relatively comic accurate. I loved the actors who played Ben and May, they are just really peaceful in the movie. This uncle Ben death scene was really sad too, I loved Andrew's acting in this scene. I have my opinions on the second movie but I'll say them when you post that video.
I agree with Andrew Garfield’s acting he’s got chops for this movie. I feel like Tobey was perfectly casted as Spider-Man however he was somewhat of a novice actor but what he did in the movie brothers shows what he can do at 100%.
This is my favorite movie of all time. Nostalgia is certainly part of the reason for that, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate it on it’s own merits. Aunt May and Uncle Ben feel like real people, and actually remind me alot of my own parents. The trope of “girlfriend’s dad not liking boyfriend” was blended seamlessly with the “police hunt vigilante” angle. Gwen is the best on-screen Spidey love interest, and it’s awesome how she contributed to the plot. I don’t know much about cinematography, but I can tell it’s unique, and more similar to a smaller film rather than a big-budget action movie. I love Peter is responsible for creating the Lizard, and how he becomes Spider-Man out of vengeance- only to accept his true responsibility after the bridge fight. And of course, no character has ever resonated with me more than this Peter. His personality, his temperament, the nobility that was hidden beneath layers of negative feelings. Even his style, it influenced my own when I was young and still kind of does today. In fact, regarding appearance, one of my proudest moments was when a girl I had a crush on told me I looked like Andrew Garfield 😅 I’m not blind to the flaws, like the Lizard being underdeveloped or the “missing parents” thing (which I hate), but even they work in the context of the movie. So yeah, I have a really personal connection to this movie and I can’t even express how excited I am for No Way Home 🤟
I remember the first time watching the Amazing Spider-Man and seeing how Peter was making his web shooters ( from watches) and how fascinating it was. It made me wanna make my own. That aside , I’ll never get why people hate on Andrew , he brought something so unique to Spider-Man , honestly idc what ppl say he is definitely my favourite Spider-Man/ Peter Parker. So underrated. Suit wasn’t bad either and man don’t get me started on that bridge scene with the kid damn.
@@Bukks23 cause ya know tobey is childhood and peter isnt supposed to be a hipster cool skater guy 🥴 Seriously tho idk the guy is a great actor and a great spiderman.
I personally think Andrew's spiderman had the best chemistry and acting of all three spiderman trilogies with many memorable moments even though Andrew's spiderman movies weren't as good as the others.
@@stevieb274 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 maybe pretty bad but you gotta admit the Spider-Man suit was pretty good and the chemistry between Peter and Gwen together on screen was really great to and kinda adorable at times
This movie was my favorite by far. I was a huge fan of Tobey and still am but I just liked this movie , cast and villain. It's even my 2nd favorite costume just behind the Amazing Spiderman 2.
Honestly I related to Andrew’s interpretation of Peter because I was that socially awkward and quiet kid growing up and I thought he was a pretty good Spider-Man but I could agree with the points that your brought up Chris and this review of TASM 1 was really interesting and I can’t wait for the review of TASM 2
Notice how in every Spider-Man origin movie, we have a green villain. Spider-Man (2002) - Green Goblin TASM (2012) - The Lizard Spider-Man Homecoming (2017) - The Vulture
Back in 2012, I remember absolutely hating The Amazing Spider-Man when it came out because I had grown accustomed to Tobey Maguire being my Spider-Man for a long time But after a while I had come around and accepted Andrew as the new Spidey during his run, hell I became a fan of both Tobey and Andrew I'm even one of the few who likes TASM 2 and it's game despite their flaws
It’s funny how I think everyone is a little more excited to see Andrew in no way home but they hated his Spider-Man a couple of years ago. Personally he is the best Spider-Man.
@@JUSTLJ_ I remember when the teaser came out and I was like this Spider-Man is trash. After seeing the movie he became my favorite Spider-Man lol. I have a gate and love relationship with the second film.
8:38 - Regarding 3CFilms' question about how it's possible that no other scientist has gotten bit by one of the spiders and gotten spiderman powers: In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", Peter's dad (Richard Parker) reveals he fused HIS OWN DNA with the spiders' DNA. Which makes it so that only someone from Richard Parker's bloodline can be affected by the spiders' bites/venom. In other words, no one else can be Spider-Man except Peter. A concept which some fans don't appreciate because it contradicts the common notion that "anyone can be Spider-Man / anyone can wear the mask", which is established in many Spider-Man adaptations, including "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse".
The TASM movies have a couple problems mostly TASM 2 but they could have been better with some better decisions and writing. But for the most part TASM 1 is pretty good 👍
I remember when I saw this movie in theaters when I was 6 years old. I was with my dad and I still remember how awesome it was to see spiderman in the big screen for the first time because I loved the original spiderman trilogy and this was a delight. For me Andrew Garfield is my personal favorite because this is the first one I saw in theater so you could say it is a bit nostalgic! Still this movie gives me the chills and will always have a special place in my heart despite its few issues.
I was definitely one of those who grew on to Andrew after some time but the thing I always loved about Andrew's Spider-Man is how he feels like a spider the most
21:08 Fucking thank you finally someone finally recognizes what they were saying in that dinner scene so many people are like “why would her argue with her dad” because he thought he was doing the right thing so many people don’t get how easily defensive people get and this was crucial for him to learn that he can go outside of the boundaries he has set for himself
The theme is back in No Way Home. Some of the soundtracks were leaked. Search up Soundtrack 19 no way home, it about 1:08. It's both Andrew's and Tobey's theme. I'm not sure if it is 100% real but it's out there. It's title is rumored to be Spider-Men.
Because they get Peter Parker all wrong? Because Spider-Man is caught being playful with villains while people around them are dying and he's just cracking jokes? Or terror happens and he's there with a fire fighters helmet making jokes? It's a very, very bad set of films. They removed all the heart and point of Spider-Man
@@WaitingForTheHook lol, just about everything you said is in relation to TASM 2 if anything, so it doesn’t make much sense to say its a bad “set” of movies, and I can presume you’ve never touched a spiderman comic or piece of media beyond the live action films. In the comics and best renditions of Spidey such as the Spectacular Spiderman show, Spiderman is quipy as hell and constantly cracking jokes even in the worst of moments. “It doesn’t get Spiderman right” is just an ironic comment from someone who doesn’t truly know Spiderman
I absolutely love the first Amazing Spider-Man movie. It's honestly my favorite of any of the Spider-Man movies that've been released so far. And it's the strength of the characters from this movie that make me like Amazing Spider-Man 2 as much as I do (i.e., even though I recognize the script and villains are a bit of a mess, it's still my sixth favorite Spider-Man movie overall, if we're counting Into the Spider-verse).
I remember being very excited for this movie since I was 14 when the set photos were leaked online. I miss those days. Also this movie did pretty good until Sony butchered it with it’s sequel.
Honestly, I think that one of Webb's talents is making the most "human" characters, and in the day and age of superhuman beings, that's not an easy thing to do
I remember watching this in theaters when I was in pre k with my dad so this will always hold a special place in my heart it was also the first spidey movie I saw in theaters and I jumped for joy when I saw andrew have his first swing with his suit and I remember that sewer scene scaring the shit outa me.
The line “With great power comes great responsibility” was a deleted scene in the Amazing Spider-Man 2. In this deleted scene Peter was mourning at Gwen’s gravestone and then Peter’s dad came behind him and was alive but was hiding for Peter’s safety. Peter hugs and cries in his dad’s arms and then they talk on a bench and he tells Peter “With great power, comes great responsibility.
The scene where he was testing his powers had my favorite band Coldplay playing in the background just made it even better 😍 made me love this movie even more
The reason the spider bite wouldn’t effect anyone else but Peter, is because it’s revealed in TASM2 that Richard Parker used his own blood in the super spiders, so his DNA is similar enough to his sons for the DNA to match up.
When I watched this movie as a teen, I had a crush on the romantic chemistry Peter and Gwen had. We didn't get that with Tobey/ Kristen Dunst and his guardians
Such an excellent review!! The visceral aspects of this film make Spider-Man so much more real to me. Thanks for the honest and candid reviews! I so often find myself reevaluating certain opinion I’ve had. It’s nice to have fresh perspective, thanks!
The aspect of his father experimenting on him and then his spider bite enhances his spider powers really reminded me of Hulk (2003) where they do something similar
James Horner, 1953-2015, composed and conducted the score to the movie! I was thrilled, because I've already been fascinated by his music in TITANIC, ALIENS, AVATAR, An American Tail, An American Tail 2, KRULL, Casper, The Rocketeer, JUMANJI, Apollo 13, Ransom, Willow, 48 HRS, Another 48 HRS, Gorky Park, Bicentennial Man, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and A Beautiful Mind. I even watched recording sessions with the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
my advice on how this movie could of been better 1. Set the movie in college since Andrew was like 20 something. 2. Don't make it Peter's destiny to become spider man because that takes away the saying "any one can wear the mask" . 3. Skip the origin story and just have flash backs instead since everyone in the world already knows how Peter got his powers so we don't need a retread of his origin story. 4. Don 't kill of gwen so early build up to it.
The third one also. That's the fatal problem of the mcu spider man, they have, it is necessary. They need to introduced, that's peter Parker. Even into the spider verse did this, with the prowler, miles uncle, so nope
I rewatched these 2 movies this week and I gotta say Andrew wasn’t a bad Peter or Spider-Man. I just think anyone following Tobey had some big shoes to fill
That's the advantage of going first. It's like how we view batman against each actor that came after Keaton (or Adam west....if your on drugs). I always loved Kilmer personally BUT, thought that Christian Bale had THE best Bruce Wayne, but Ben Affleck had the most comic accurate version of batman we've seen (shame they put him in shitty movies).
I was an little kid when the amazing spiderman movies came out and even tho I did watch part one in two I still would always watch the old Sam Rami trilogy Tobey always was my favorite version of spider Man to watch 🔥
Andrew Garfield is the accurate spiderman he is like the comic accurate . No one can argue about Tobey he's like our childhood the first superhero I saw but I'll still say Andrew is the comic accurate spiderman and his swinging vfx Chefs kiss 😘
Rewatched it yesterday and honestly as a whole this film isn't my cup of tea, but Andrew Garfield IS MY SPIDER-MAN. This guy made the film. You can tell TASM is made in a post-The Dark Knight era and that dark and gritty spin doesn't work for Spidey for me, has a very melancholic feel, especially compared to the epic, heroic and almost operatic Spider-Man 2002 and the more vibrant sequel TASM2, and the kid-friendly Tom Holland films (which I also don't like), but honestly, as a film, it is good. Andrew Garfield is definitely the heart and soul of the film, I empathize most with this 'cool' 'edgy' Spider-Man because he is a sassy, douchey, cool but lonely guy that has a lot of problems like anger and abandonment issues. I love how he is obsessed with his parents' disappearance, it gives him bit of a spy-like edge, and he at times are really dark and the whole motivation for him to become Spider-Man was out of vengeance, that he slowly figures out through helping people he could become a better person, almost like a self-redemption! That is a very interesting spin on the character, that sassiness have thrown a lot of people off but it works so well for me. Also Gwen Stacy is the best live-action Spider-Man love interest, period. The colour-grading is muted but the cinematography is great, I feel if they colour correct it it would be much easier to look at. The soundtrack is very typically James Horner, you can hear Aliens, Star Trek and Avatar, RIP.
You put into words EXACTLY why I love that movie. People can say what they want about the sequel (which I still enjoy) but the first is, well, Amazing.
I think that Andrew's movies are criminally underrated, the man could have enjoyed these movies if it weren't for Sony interfering with everything, especially the movie that Chris will cover next.
I like the idea of Peter ordering webbing from Oscorp, since they alter the spiders. More importantly, he uses Dr Connors' intelligence in that way, while Dr Connors using Peter's intelligence to become the Lizard.
I remember when this movie came out alot of people were saying oh hes not the real spiderman since it differed alot from tobeys, but honestly this movie is really good i loved it and imo its a top 3 spiderman movie 1.spiderman 2 2.spiderman 1 3.TASM 1 I totally hate TASM 2 tho
His father made it to where the spiders could only give spider powers to someone with his dna. I don’t think he did anything to Peter, I think he just had it to where the spiders don’t work on any one without Parker dna
Before no way home this was my second favorite Spider-Man movie. Only beaten by into the spider verse. This movie captured the character of Spider-Man perfectly and showed consequences to peter’s selfish actions. And I haven’t even mentioned Andrew Garfield’s amazing acting. I like how it showed the darker side of Peter as well. At first he was just looking for vengeance but after the bridge scene, that’s when he really became Spider-Man.
I really love this movie! Yes it has its flaws, but it was really enjoyable. I love the lizard, and deserved a more scenes of him. And the chemistry between characters was great!
If these movies weren’t so different from each other i don’t think the spider verse concept for NWH would work as good , gotta appreciate the little things from each franchise
When I first heard about this movie, like most I was annoyed they replace Tobey, so it took me a while to even watch it. Once I got to watch it, it easily became my favorite version of Spider-Man. I don’t care about the hate, it’s IMO the best
Chris, Mr. 3C I appreciate you pointing out the spider like crawling Andrew does when fighting the lizard, I’ve never heard anyone else make that connection… maybe bc it was very obvious but still… great vid bro! I’m watching all of them before I see NWH on the sixteenth at 3 PM!!!
A film that’s over-hated, I’m a BIG fan of the Raimi Spider-Man films but I appreciate this attempted reboot. It might not be perfect due to Sony not knowing what to do with this film (especially when we get to the sequel) but the parts that work are REALLY damn good but the bad parts are just whatever, if they sticked to a certain idea then it wouldn’t be as hated like certain films that have a trouble finding their identity like for example Fant4stic.
I am loving your reviews on all of the Spiderman movies and I loved the Amazing Spiderman movie because I was around 9 or 10 or 12 and I felt Andrew Garfield did a a excellent job as Peter Parker/Spiderman, While I did enjoyed it, I still do at 17 years old now. But still the way SONY designed the Lizard was awful because he just looks bleh. Over all Spiderman is my childhood. Thank you Chris.
Lol so cool for Chris wearing Andrew’s first costume. And it’s so cool how Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man actually introduces the sci-if side of Spider-Man with dope technology and even get dope mechanical web shooters. But is so cool for Andrew to portray Spider-Man so well.
If I was the director of this film, I would have made these rewrites to the script: 1. Reshoot the scene where Spider-Man's harassing the car thief and have it be Uncle Ben's killer. He reveals himself to him, how the man he killed was his own family, and so on. Spider-Man almost finishes him in rage, but can't bring himself to. The police arrive, prompting him to flee and they take the killer in. 2. Change up Lizard and even Ratha's motivations; in the film, Lizard kind of just gives up on him and decides he wants to turn the whole city into lizards. Give that motive to Ratha; once he sees what the serum is capable of, how profitable it can be as a military weapon, he decides to go through with testing it on war veterans. Lizard can't let that happen, and in the sewer scene following the high school fight, Lizard explains it all to Peter, and he agrees to team with him to stop Ratha. That would not only make Ratha more relevant to the plot than what we got in the finished film, but it would also give Lizard more significance as a character as he's not just a villain, he's an anti-hero, only turning himself into Lizard so he can go after the real villain of the story. 3. With that said, change Ratha's character into an actual villain from the comics; maybe Alistair Smythe? And no, I wouldn't have B.J. Novak portray him, I would probably have Cillian Murphy play him. Forget his appearance in the sequel, I also have things to change up for that movie.
Common man! Now that you did this review, I personally don't have a favorite Spider-Man. All the Spider-Men are my favorites! Thanks for the review Cris, can't wait for No Way Home!
Andrew got done dirty. Sony did him dirty. Tbh I would say he's the best actor out of all the actors that have played spiderman however, Tobey Maguire spider man will also be the best spiderman forever.
"Almost perfect", Flash is actually a character, Gwen isn't there just to scream and be rescued, Peter Parker is.....actually accurate to the comics, and they actually made use of Kurt Connors, you know, instead of being a worthless cock tease for 2 whole movies. It IS perfect.
Now I’ll be honest, while I actually liked this Movie, but when this First came out, I wasn’t all Interested at first. But it’s cool that we got The Lizard in the Movie. Can’t wait to see Him again in No Way Home.
Garfield to me makes a fantastic adult version of Spiderman, however he shouldn't have been in high school at the beginning it's annoyed me for years why his Parker starts in high school in this series but I honestly get some Captain America films like Winter Soilder vibes from this series with how it's tone at times is
I just love the way Andrews Spider-Man feels like a Spider with the way he moves. I also loved his connection with Gwen. I know the Amazing Spiderman movies got a lot of hate but I think they are very underrated movies.
