I lived in Ohio until I was 10, and then we moved to Florida. I never realized there was such a large Amish community in Ohio, but seeing a lot of the dishes you guys get at the Amish restaurants reminds me of my mom's cooking. The 3 bean salad was one she made for every get together, but I never would try it because it just never appealed to me. Just today I looked up her recipe for it and decided I'm going to make it and take it to her since she doesn't cook much anymore since she's gotten older. I have watched every one of your videos. Today was my all-time favorite! Your commentary and your photography tie in to your sweet and kind personalities. I love when you visit the Amish restaurants because they are so clean and the food looks like it's prepared with love! You two are such a perfect couple and whatever you guys do you always do it well. And there is not doubt about it, you guys know to pick the best things off the menu. If you go to a buffet I think one should go first and then the other should do the photography and then the next person can go and at least you guys can have a start on having some of your food hot and not have it sitting and waiting while you film..

Sometimes I film the buffet before we both go up This one the plan was to film Bobbie putting stuff on plate but it didn't work out so I filmed it while she got hers. Its hard filming buffet with so many people. Kidney bean salad is really good . My mother and my grandmother's used to make it back when I was little girl . It was one of my favorites and the peas salad is another that is really good.
@@jbinthehills I have a lot of friends who are retired and take bus trips all the time, I watch your videos and recommend all the places I see y’all go. They can’t believe that me someone who doesn’t leave the house can suggest all these wonderful places. They have not been disappointed with any of them. I go by the expression on Bobbies face if it’s good or not, and I love her comments good or bad. I am from Virginia which makes a bus trip for the ladies not far to go, especially since they are real FOODIES. Thank you both so very much for sharing all your experiences. LOL
That's so cool. Glad we have helped them. I look up where we are going and try to research the different places to eat. Find out what's the most popular and where locals go. Then I go to you tube and look them to see if anyone has done them. The ones I don't see on you tube we go film so people like you and me see what it is all about. Bologna sandwiches on the menu! Dad loved to get the uncut bologna and make it thicker cut and fry it up for the best sandwiches you ever had. But the family story was his spoiled rotten rabbit dog a beagle named Gypsy robbed him of the pleasure. He cut himself a slab of bologna to eat with cheese and crackers for a TV snack. I heard a lot of cussing and fussing and found a very bloated beagle and a chewed up red wrapper of a TWO POUND chunk of bologna on the floor. Dad heard his show start up and forgot to immediately put up the roll of goodness. That dog looked green. Gyp gypped him of a toasty sandwich! I didn't help by laughing until I cried by his lazy hunting dog hunting round steak ;-)

All the food in the restaurant 😋 looked yummy. Being able purchase some of the desserts to take home from the restaurant or the bakery 😋🤤 would have been my thing 😀. Too bad it was So Hot when you went. I would have wanted to check out the general store as well.
If you brought a small cooler and ice pak(s) you could have taken any desserts needing to be refrigerated home with you without any worries. Maybe next time?
Yes we had a cooler and on the day we left we took some stuff from Walnut Creek home. The day we shot this one was a day before we left so we didn't want to leave it in cooler that long. But thanks for suggestions and for watching. 😎
Just watch your video on the Amish restaurant & bakery food look really good the bakery look really good as far as I know everything they make his homemade we have a Amish community up here in Clarksville Tennessee I go to and buy bakery
Kidney bean salad is a favorite of mine. We make it with chopped green onion, pickle relish, chopped hard boiled egg and mayo. I've had it with oil and vinegar dressing and some chopped green onion and celery. Either way is good.

I bought the noodles when we were in Amish country. They sell them in a lot of store there. I just cook the noodles in chicken booth salt and pepper. When they are cooked, I put a little bit of butter in the noodles. 😎😎

Its simple hearty farm food they've been making this last 200 yrs pretty unchanged. While haven't hit this spot can see its pretty good especially buffets can be hit or miss
I would do the Buffet.I would get some fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy and salad things.and a bit of roast beef 🍖 I thought this buffet had less choices then some you go to.
At least 3/4 of that is not made from scratch. That's mostly canned food items outside of the fresh produce. Same as any cheap buffet. I say that just for clarification. I would still eat it every few months but I would not be unaware of what's in front of me..
@@jbinthehills I decided giving back to the area I live in and love is something I want to do. Your videos helped me a lot. I took a pay cut, but I started today as a manager at The Amish Door Village!
These Amish buffets do not seem to offer anything spectacular, but their offerings are pretty common mid of the road dishes. This seems to be another that is decent but I would not go out of my way to eat there.
i grew up a hour from Amish country and made numerous trips to the Amish door if im not mistaken the peanut butter spread is a combination of peanut butter,marshmallow and honey
