Not sure why you are amazed by the quality in the '60s. It was the golden decade of music.

A friend of mine once said "one of the most underrated bands there ever was!" So true!! What an amazing band.

George Watson 'underrated' is the most misused word in RU-vid comment history. Lesser known is not the same as underrated.

Arguably my favorite song from the 60s. Such a great band, and Eric Burdon has one of the best voices ever

Homie knew he murdered that organ solo. He just knew it.

The homie turned out to be a prick though when he would turn around and stiffed the rest of the band on royalties to this now classic tune.

The reason this clip is high quality is it's from a british feature film called "Pop Gear" released in 1965 the movie featured a number of british bands performing their songs.

Google: On September 24th, 1966, Hendrix took up the offer from The Animals’ bassist, Chas Chandler(1:02), and moved to London where he would sign a management and production contract with him and Animals manager Michael Jeffery. Chandler immediately began recruiting members for a band that would get the best out of Hendrix’s insane ability and the Jimi Hendrix Experience was born.

What's really amazing is that what went into the microphone, came out of the amplifier. Zero electronic helpers.

I love that rhythm: 1, 2 and 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2 and 3, 4, 5, 6. The ride cymbal is mimicking the pattern of 7 that the guitar's picking, and then the organ joins them at the bridge. And it doesn't vary: there's just that rhythm running throughout the song. Hypnotic!

The bass player Chas. Chandler is who paid for an unknown American guitarist to fly back to London with him, paid for his food and lodgings, the recruitment and audition of a backing band and paid for the bands first single. The song on the single was 'Hey Joe' and it was a hit and ir was Chandler we had to thank for helping give Jimi Hendrix the exposure to become a star.

Great reaction to a timeless classic. The Animals were the anti-Beatles. Not pretty, not polished, from the wrong side of the tracks.... Eric Burden's soulful voice isn't manufactured. He is the real deal.

For something completely different - check out Boston. Every song on the first album got heavy airplay. It is one of the best albums ever. The entire album except the last song was recorded by Tom Scholz in his basement. By himself. He got Brad Delp to sing - you will not believe his range. When record execs wanted to sign the band, he had to put a band together. Start with More Than A Feeling or Foreplay/Longtime.

Quality is this good because it is an excerpt from a movie, so it was recorded on 35mm film, not videotape which was used for TV broadcasts for example
