ALTERING-REALITY SHENANIGAN You can’t use a - when speaking of a specific Earth for two reason reason 1: DC stopped doing that two or three decades ago reason 2: people might think your talking about a Earth from the Dark Multiverse
Flash Fact: That helmet of Jay's belonged to his dad, who was a soldier in WW1. So he modified it after the greek god Hermes's helmet, shortly after getting his powers from when he awoke from his coma and had found he had super speed. Yes. Im a big Jay Garrick fan.😝
Same here dude, can't surpass the Garrick. Golden Age comics were the funnest of them all considering he was such a jokey prankster which made it all the cooler when he matured into the grandfather like character we eventually got.
I'm a new DC comics fan but from what I understand it's like if Dick Grayson became batman for like 20 years created a whole fan based and all the stuff that makes batman popular and then he was just replaced with Bruce Wayne and now it's all Bruce all the time and the only Dick Grayson even focused on anymore isn't even the one people remember.
Originally pre-crisis, Barry’s parents weren’t only alive but happy. It wasn’t until Barry returned from the Speed Force years after Crisis that his history was changed because Eobard Thawne screwed over his childhood in order to make Barry’s life suck when the Reverse Flash realized he couldn’t kill Barry because he would cease to exist if he did. This included setting fire to his childhood home in Fallville that caused Barry to move to Central City, getting his dog indirectly run over by a car, erasing his childhood friend from existence, and infamously, killing Nora Allen and placing the blame on Barry’s father, Henry Allen.
And all because Silver Age fanboy Geoff Johns wanted Barry in the modern times and with some unnecessary tragedy in his origin story (Barry not having it made him unique, now he's just like everyone else).
@Olek Szymanski Well the first time, is when he created Flashpoint in the first place and the second is when he undid Flashpoint that created the New 52. They were both done in the same event to technically it's only once.
I actually really like Jay Garrick. Especially his helmet. One of the reasons is he is a fan of Hermes, the Greek messenger of the Gods with the ability of super speed. That’s where the inspiration of the helmet came in.
@@jasontoddsthighholsters4168 I think it all started when Geoff Johns brought back Hal Jordan and Barry Allen to be the main GL and Flash in modern days, ignoring Kyle and Wally.
Hankonater Yeah right, that’s why he’s the reason he brought back Wally and made DC rebirth is success till he left which is when we got Heroes in crisis and Jonathan Kent turning into a teen
So, Hal Jordan is a Flash now. As is Superboy-Prime? I mean, for Crisis on Infinite Earths, it was a desperation move. Zero Hour was Hal feeling like this world sux and he could do better. Infinite Crisis was Superboy-Prime feeling like this world sux so he punched the universe itself. And Flashpoint was Barry. Oh, Convergence was Brainiac feeling angsty. And the dark multiverse is basically Batman being paranoid.
I agree with max wholeheartedly, the hat of Jay Garrick is a reference to "the original speedster" Hermes/Mercury, the god of messages and...health? I think. Basically, the hat is a cool reference and made Jay Garrick great
A Door Health was Apollo and/or his son Asclepius. Mercury’s staff (the caduceus) is often confused with the Rod of Asclepius, which is why the caduceus is a symbol of medecine. The rod has one snake, the staff has two snakes.
@@ilikestuff3706 What's funny is that Apollo is the only major Ancient Greek god whose name remained the same in Rome. The others all got name changes.
The Golden Fighter They actually don’t. They’re two separate people with two separate origins. They’re actually cousins and they were both named after their great grandfather. I wish the video made this a little more clear.
Man its a shame you really skimmed over Wally's entire history when he had the most interesting run as the flash and having him in his kid flash outfit over his flash outfit. Also poor bart really gets ignored when it comes to the fact that he took up the flash mantel as well
I'm a new DC comics fan but from what I understand it's like if Dick Grayson became batman for like 20 years created a whole fan based and all the stuff that makes batman popular and then he was just replaced with Bruce Wayne and now it's all Bruce all the time and the only Dick Grayson even focused on anymore isn't even the one people remember.
I thought Bart was only The Flash for a hot minute? Definitely should have spared him a second either way, but I didn't know there was much to say there. I am disappointed there wasn't more focus on Wally (who really defined the role of the Flash, was the Flash for a generation, and arguably became the template for speedsters personality wise across all stories).
I like reverse flash as a villain because the battle between him and Barry is that of optimism vs negativity. That’s why it’s called the negative speed force as apposed to like the anti speed force or something. And the one time flash did feed into his negativity, he caused the most negative hopeless reality to ever.
you forgot to mention that Barry died and Wally took over There’s also Walter West an alternate version of wally west that wore a red and silver costume from the late 90’s
Cool now I get to retell my joke *clears throat* : Remember when you made that "Animated History of Every Flash" video and in it Jay Garrick's hat was called ridiculous? It was me Barry, I went back in time and changed the script TO RUIN YOUR FRIENDSH--!!!
Wally West: [exists] Dc: get out. GET OUT! Wallace west: [just trying to figure out why everyone hates him] Dc: “What the F*ck am I supposed to do with you?” Verdict: Dc hates Wally Wests
At this point, Noah should just get a royalty check every time he uses the “Reality Altering Shenanigans” joke. Knowing DC, he’ll be a millionaire within months😂
I mean, New Teen Titans started him out as a Reagan-worshipping douche, so there's that. Barry also once referred to Black Lightning as a "token black". The Bronze Age really wasn't kind to them.
Cody Chen The African American Wally is referred to as “Wallace west” to avoid confusion. He’s the cousin of the ginger Wally west and they were both named after their great grandfather. Idk if this helps but I made this comment because I felt like the video made it sound more confusing than it actually is.

Have to say, I know this supposed to be very condensed to keep the runtime short, but I still think it was a little to crammed. The Green Lantern vid had more characters to cover, and I think it did a great job at it. This one didn't even mention Barry's death for 23 years, went out of its way to ignore Wally West as the Flash and it didn't even explain what Flashpoint is. You get a better idea of Flashpoint by watching the Robin vid than by watching this Flash video. And the animation style was kinda worse I think. Really loved Speed Force smokes. They're the answer to everything!
Yeah but he makes dc content here because he can’t at marvel but I think he stopped doing RU-vid because he hasn’t posted on here and hasn’t been on the tldr series in almost a year
Why did you explain the characters in such a weird way in this video? Especially with both Wallys? It's not that hard. The first Wally West is Barry Allen's original side kick. When Barry was presumed dead Wally took up the mantle for many years until Barry came back. During the events of Flashpoint, Wally got stuck in the Speed Force and his history got wiped from the timeline, but during the begging of rebirth, he fought through the Speed Force to try and return back to Earth and with the help of Barry it was successful. And when he retuned instead of staying as Kid Flash he took the mantle of The Flash again but this time alone side Barry. While Red Head Wally was stuck in the speed force the OTHER Wally (aka Wallace West & the original Wally's cousin) had taken the mantle of Kid Flash and he kept it since. Boom done.

Whoa man.l! i really have to say you guys did an awesome job animating the whole thing, don`t know if you guys do these every-time, but i am watching your videos for the first time really loved the animation, subscribed and notifications turned on👍👍
richie evans I wouldn’t really call it the reason why he became a super hero. It mainly serves as a reason for why he hates the reverse flash. Don’t forget that Barry would’ve still become the flash without his mom dying. He became a hero because he’s a naturally good person.
Its a matter of sorrow that they really skipped the og wally part.....I think still he is the flash everyone loves as a major part of our childhood was the justice league unlimited series
Not really. In the 90's Wally was the Flash, and actually the darkest villain he faced in his comics was his version of Reverse-Flash: Hunter Zolomon (created by Joeff Johns so the argument in the video still stands). Otherwise, Wally's advwntures were actaully uplifting and full of hope and "everything's gonna be alright" kind of vibe (unless we're talking Terminal Velocity or "Dark Flash").
@@Mattatiah95 I was just talking about the comic industry in general. In the 90s it was less about comics being written well and just being "What's the EDGIEST thing we can do with these characters?" Superman's death, Batman getting his back broken, Hal Jordan becoming parallax, Kyle Rayner's girlfriend getting "fridged".
You could have done better explaining the history of wally unarguably the best flash, but you where spot on about corporation capitalizing on popular series. Also let's be honest half of the responsibilities are of Snyder who took over dc for two years and metal plus editorial destroyed anything good teased in rebirth and doomsday clock
Ok there is a lot of confusion here. I should have argumented more but to anyone who actually knows the comics its a given fact not a personal opinion, he's not even my favorite. Wally is the one that gave the flash mitos more solidity, he was born from barry sacrifice, he took up the mantle and gave it so much making the flash family post crisis a real family, expanded the lore of speedforce with the black flash. As most of the best stories about a speedster. Is canon in comics that he's the greatest master of the speedforce, even barry himself said that in flash war, he's the fastest DC character by DC itself published a list a bit ago. He was the only flash with a real established family and legacy. If it wasn't for the fact that n52 editorial and Tom King heroes in crisis butchered his character he would have been an amazing symbol instead of the guy who search for is family endlessly
@@M.W.2 Although I do like Wally West it is not a fact that he is the greatest. All these reasons you give you could easily apply to other speedster. Barry himself has had equally as iconic moments like Flashpoint or his sacrifice. The flash family existed in a protoform form during Barry's run and has expanded even more recently. It has been teased that Bart may one day be faster then all the other flash's and he may one day truly master the speed force thanks to max mercury. Also the speed force lore has been heavily expanded during Barry's run. My point is that he is not unarguably the best flash. And that is not a fact. You may think he is and that's fine. He may actually be the best flash. But to pretend its not even close is obtuse
@@docapathy6706 I said stories not moments. In barry run especially rebirth and n52 it just added character with access to the speedforce to the rooster, I'm talking about a real family made of different families that reunite with each other like it happened with glory belle, the garrick, Bart and max, wally and his family during a lot of times in wally run. The Bart thing is fair but until it happens we can't say that. You can think whatever you want but if barry himself say that wally is the both the fastest flash and the only one that understand the speedforce on a spiritual level while him only it's scientific part. If the characters in comics assume that I think it's true indipendently of which one I like better
It's so weirdly effective DC was in making Barry the Flash. Like I got into DC recently so all i knew was that Barry was the current Flash and nothing about Wally's run
Also the matrix shapeshifting supergirl, the Linda Danvers supergirl, that magic supergirl Jimmy Olsen wished into existence, Cir El, plus pre crisis post crisis and flashpoint Kara
Literally the only problem that I had with this was that you called Jay Garrick's hat ridiculous and then you fixed it by the end by the end so fantastic video
Golden age superboy, superbaby, silver age superboy, pocket dimension pre-crisis superboy, superboy prime, superboy Kon-El, superboy Chris Kent, Legion of superheroes Clark superboy and last, and for the worst, superboy Jon-El 🤢
@@DayOldMeat same as Barry: simply inspired by it. JSA is a group that was active in the 30s and 40s , but stopped in the early 50s. Barry lived in Central City , which is also Jay's city. So , when he turned into the "Flash" , it was more of an old Central City hero's mantle that he revitalized. Batman was inspired by Wildcat and Dr.Midnight's designs to make his suit. Superman's early "suits" is pretty much based on the JSA (the one before he had a proper suit in the fortress , when he was a no-name in Metropolis).
This video didn’t even explain how Wally, Wallace, and Bart became the Flash. It also failed to clarify that in current continuity, Wally 1 and Wally 2 (Wallace) are cousins, which explains why there can be two Wally Wests in a single universe. This is a paragraph improving this video about the history of every Flash by actually giving you the history of every Flash. You’re welcome. Wally becomes the Flash after Barry sacrifices himself in Crisis on Infinite Earths to save the Earth from the Anti-Monitor and dies SPEED FORCE SHENANIGANS gets lost into the Speed Force. Wallace becomes the Flash in a future that no longer exists because of TIME TRAVEL SHENANIGANS, but since Jay, Barry and Wally are fine with sharing the legacy, then Wallace will eventually also become the Flash. His Flash suit is silver and red. Bart became the flash after trapping Superboy-Prime into the speedforce with the help of all Flashes and other heroic speedsters from both outside and inside the Speed Force. They temporarily succeeded, but because of hard to explain SPEED FORCE SHENANIGANS, Bart became the only speedster left in this Earth as he now contains all of the speedforce, making his powers hard to control. After Superboy-Prime escaped, he followed him and lived in an alternate universe for four years, growing from a teenager into an adult. When he returned to his Earth, he helped defeat Superboy-Prime and became the new Flash. But he died soon after. Bart’s own Reverse-Flash, his evil clone Inertia, ripped the Speed Force out of Bart with a machine and masterminded the Rogues into killing him. Wally is back, and furious, so he froze Inertia’s body in time, but left his mind unfrozen as a form of torture, and even put Inertia’s body on display in the Flash Museum. Gruesome, but well deserved. He later got unfrozen, and continued being the most evil Reverse-Flash, but the Rogues still had a grudge against him (they hadn’t really wanted to kill the Flash, they just panicked) and they killed Inertia. Bart is later resurrected, either because of TIME TRAVEL SHENANIGANS, REALITY ALTERING SHENANIGANS, or SPEED FORCE SHENANIGANS. I don’t remember, all I know is that he’s a kid/teen again. Also, because of REALITY ALTERING SHENANIGANS, Bart being the Flash and Barry being trapped in the Speed Force may or may not have happened in current continuity. Sorry if this was a bit long, and sorry if I got anything wrong, if I did, I’ll just use REALITY ALTERING SHENANIGANS to edit this paragraph.
DC’s Rebirth idea in 2017 was better than New52, and yet made keeping up with lore and continuity even more difficult. Also, Justice for Wally West, not Wallace West
just a little correction. the two Wallys are not Alternative versions a pre flashpoint and a post flashpoint, they are both Primos, named after the great-grandfather. The red-haired Wally only remembers the pre flashpoint because when he was still a Kid Flash Abeakadabra sent him to the Acceleration Force and so everyone forgot about him and he saw the pre flashpoint
