New Viewer BTW💗from🇨🇦 Wow! The parody is hilarious😂🤣😁😆 3:50😂🤣That must be DC during it’s current “woke” phase because of progressive politics destroying western comics, isn’t it??? The goal of modern progressive politics is to destroy all distinction sadly!
0:21 Fun fact:The reason wood is his weakness is because he was surprise attacked by a person with a wooden club which made him think wood was his weakness and since the ring makes what you think a reality wood actually became his weakness. The funny thing is it can be stopped if he would just stop believing wood was his weakness
@@milkshake4777 the real reason is the fear is the opposite of willpower. Your fear weakens your will (green rings run on pure will. Yellow rings run on fear or the ability to inflict fear)
"I'm angry and a jerk all the time!" "And I'm angry because I'm a black man being written by a white guy in an awkward transitional period for comic book writing in the 1970s! But I get better soon." "I won't, and that's what's great about me!" It's funny because it's true.
@@jockeyfield1954 he’s a jerk all of the time and that’s his entire personality. You could literally replace him with Booster Gold and have a better character
@@richardmorgan3665 turns out Batman mastering of talk no jutsu was so universally OP that he doesn't need hand signs to perform such a deadly genjutsu Naruto later Mastered it too by The Bat between post naruto series before he is returns to the hidden leaf in shippuden and Gives him secret training regiment before Naruto used it on pain and after shippuden even in the end Naruto and Batman talk no jutsu was so dangerous they had to separate themselves to different universes in order to keep the genjutsu balance
How the fuck did you get literally every single word in that entire quote wrong? Not even a nitpick. That’s legitimately not even close to what either of them said Like what the hell? Did you watch the video, go to sleep, and come back to make that comment the next day?
Isaac granger tell me... do you yellow lanterns feel fear? (That line actually works perfectly since yellow lanterns are a corps dedicated to inspiring fear in others)
Guy's rage is actually brought about one of my favorite GL moments. tl;dr, The Green Lantern Corp is driven crazy by Parallax being placed in the GL Power Battery again, and Hal, John, Guy, and Kyle save them by using rings from other corps. Guy gets a Red AND a Violet ring and with a shout of "I love my Corp and no one is taking them away from me!" and shatters the Power Battery, saving the day, which is *so cool and no one else in comics can channel Rage and Love like that Guy Gardner is badass as hell*
He also goes back to the red lanterns later. Initially its a spy mission but Atrocitus pissed off Guy so much he went "Fuck the mission im beating his ass" and then proceeded to actually do that and take over the red lanterns turning them into a force for good. Keep in mind he did this within the first hour of his mission.
Fun fact Jon Stuart is one of the most powerful green lanterns because he is an engineer and he thinks those constructs the most and they are some of the most powerful because of that
After being turned off by the stereotypical racist one of Jon Stewart's in this video. Stewart really didn't stand out to me if we go by Justice League animated series depiction.
That description of Guy Gardner is so on point. He’s such an asshole, but I love the guy. I can’t imagine GL comics without Guy being a jerk with a heart of gold.
Same. It’s a paradox. Despite the fact that he’s a prick, his character is such a constant pillar of the DCU that I couldn’t imagine it without him, and thus I love his character. It’s weird but I just find his jerkiness great and funny
Also Kyle got possessed by a Willpower Whale, became a literal god for a while, before eventually learning how to control each of the emotional rings, becoming the first ever true White Lantern before retiring to become Space Jesus at the end of Geoff Johns run. And that’s why Kyle is my favorite lantern.
Fun fact. Alan was a founding member of the justice society of America and has two children of his own named Jennifer Lynn Hayden and Todd Rice aka Jade and Osbidoan. He also had and still has a good friendly relationship with the original Flash Jay Garrick who was also a founding member of the jsa. He even married one of his former enemies Molly Mayne aka Harlequin and is still lovelny married to her too this day. Alan had many other enemies as well many of whom joined the injustice society such as Gambler, Icicle, Sportsmaster, Solomon Grundy who of course is also an enemy of Batman, and Vandal Savage. While Gambler and Icicle are both dead Sportsmaster, Solomon Grundy, and Vandal Savage are still alive.
Kyle is my favorite lantern, and while I am not a fan of his white and green outfit, it’s good to help him stand out. I love that Kyle keeps resdesigning his outfit since he gets new artistic inspiration every now and then
You'll be happy to know that we are officially getting a live-action Green Lantern Corps HBO Max series coming out soon and Alan Scott has been cast as one of main characters and will be played by Jeremy Irvine
Fun Fact: Hal Jordan was only able to use his ring to kill due to his extreme power. The Guardians did not remove this limitation until the Sinestro Corps War.
@@edwardgrierson1460 they also technically didn't do anything to prevent him from seizing the entire central battery again after the parralax incident.
@@medabd1385 no, that was a different incident. He went mad, erased the universe undid the crisis, nearly broke THAT multiverse and died putting it all back to safety. Then came back. And they didn't do anything about it until a later incident.
Green Lantern Ring before: *Deathstroke doesn't even know if he can wear one, Green Arrow nearly goes comatose from making one arrow, meanwhile the usual Green Lanterns toss out constructs like it's nothing* Green Lantern Rings now: _Your secondary comment part can't be topped_
Hal: What's your deal? Guy: I'm angry and I'm a jerk all the time, that's what! John: I'm a black man written by white men in an awkward transitional period for comic book writing in the 1970's. But I'll get better soon. Guy: I won't. And that's what's great about me. Lol... gotta love Guy
Kyle was my favorite because he seemed to be the most imaginative with his constructs. Plus his first run was interesting since unlike the others he didn't have the Guardians or any other lanterns to guide him. He had to figure all of the superhero stuff out for himself.
@@BaronSengir1008 The idea was okay but all that stuff about the Guardians erasing all life in the universe as an art project or that they altered probability to cause the appearance of superheroes really killed the story for me.
Yeah I LOVED how creative Kyle got, PLUS his Original Suit was SO COOL compared to the Standard GL uniform which is kind of boring. Not to mention it was VERY interesting to see him think Outside The Box, because he was NEVER trained on "THIS here is the ONLY acceptible way to deal with this", which actually let him surprise Sinestro who was like "WTF?! That is NOT how you're supposed to DEAL with this!!"
Can we just mention how the rings somehow chose our planet 7 times in a row? Green lantern sectors r huge there are definitely some other aliens better than us But on top of that not only did it happen 7 times in a row but it was the same country 7 times in a row, what are the odds that a ring would arrive on a planet in the exact same spot as 6 others before it (Maybe discount the first one bc he built his)
Two mistakes I'd like to point out: the rings go on the middle finger, NOT the ring finger, and Sinestro is left handed, NOT right handed, so his ring should be on his left hand.
“First Lesbian Lantern” Ok I’m no comics expert, I only knew about Hal, John, and Guy, but I’ve seen those big double pages of the whole Green Lantern Corp, and there’s squirrels, squids, a living virus, a person that’s a living volcano, several humanoid aliens, a thing that’s just a ball, and other things. Within the entirety of that crew none of those random life forms had an attraction to the same sex? Statistically there’s gotta be at least one!
@@evanoconnor9242 yup! Also Hal’s writer for a long time has insinuated that Hal is pan and it’s been implied that Hal and John Constantine have slept together before. Wish it’d start being *text* instead of subtext one day.
uwu Essentially, A white writer who didn’t understand his character or black culture very well kinda just, messed up his story. I don’t think It’s really totally about race though, because he didn’t get good character development in the first place. It’s the same with Grant Morrison’s n52 Superman, he just wasn’t well written, and it made him suck. However, Rebirth Superman has been an improvement, as was Jon Stewart once the writers switched.
Actually Guy Gardner did get better in the New 52 when he became a Red Lantern and his pissed off jerk attitude fit perfectly. The Red Lanterns also had their own series that was pretty solid, it was at least better than New52 GL New Gaurdians featuring Kyle Rayner.
@@solvemproblerstudios5889 Disagree with your comment about Morrison's characterization of Superman. Grant Morrison tends to take great influence from the Silver Age-- just look at Bat-Mite or the Batman of Zur En Arrh. It's a general motif in his writing, even more so than deliberately writing batshit crazy stories that are trying to make your brain explode. He's even doing it now with The Green Lantern. So when Morrison was trying to figure out what kind of Superman he wanted to write, he looked towards the Silver Age which is primarily where this characterization of Superman is drawn from. For a large part of the Silver Age, Superman was Superboy. He visited the Legion of Superheroes, raced across the cosmos with unfathomable power, and was generally a kid. This is where Morrison's Superman comes from. Now let's make something clear: Morrison's Superman was *not* Geoff John's Superman The Superman Geoff Johns created in the pages of Justice League does not draw from the Silver Age or even Morrison's. This Superman was moodier, with a quick temper. I consider Johns' work on Justice League to be some of his worst (which isn't to say he's a bad writer he isn't), and his characterization of Superman is very telling in that regard. The Darkseid War in particular was lackluster. I had also just come off of reading a shit ton of ridiculously excellent indie titles when I finally finished his run of JL, so that probably had something to do with it too.
Echo Empire Ok. Fair enough. Just last week I read Morrison’s new 52 Superman and the man of steel, and I just... didn’t get it. I had no Idea what was going on half the time, Clark was either a semi cocky, confident kid at times, reminding me of Peter Parker or something, or a jerk and suddenly he’d be Christopher Reeve every once and a while. He just seemed a bit erratic to me.
@@namhaipurevdorj4453 No, he already went back to being just Green. The events of Doomsday Clock were probably the cause but his ring broke onto seven different rings of every color. Last time I saw him he was with the Titans, but that book also ended.
I actually like the idea of hal becoming paralax a lot. Like some shit so bad happens to a hero that they just snap and become a bad guy was a pretty new concept. Kinda like how marvel had a captain marvel who had his life cut short by cancer.
Six. Alan is only an Honorary Member of the Corps and Sojourner is What-If/In the Future/Totally not Canon. Moreover now there are 2 Lanterns per Sector and the other 4 are part of the Honor Guard, meaning the go wherever and do whatever. Also John is now Corps Leader, fun fact
no, not the LGBTQ+ community, you're talking about those people on twitter that call themselves LGBTQ+ when they're really just extremely angry gay people that hate straight people
The first one really only on Earth 2 and the reason for why that happened was because the JSA were not allowed on Prime Earth in the New 52. Meaning that Alan Scotts gay son got erased from existence (oh and surprised he was under utalized as comics tend to do which is really annoying) and well they figured they could off set that by making him gay.
@@xo-1320 That's why I said "now". In fact, he's still the father of Obsidian and Jade (they appear at the end of Doomsday Clock). So, he was probably a gay man that had to pretend to be straight because 40's.
Love this, and your style. I thought this was brand new and was sobered to realized that it's two years old but still exactly describes the state of all these characters today.
I love these short but informative videos so insanely impressive. As a avid comic reader green lanterns have always been so dope for me because Alan Scott is so different with the othes where as his is more mysticism and what not and Kyle Rayner has to be my favorite he made a mech suit construct and a literal dragon. Usually Hal even though he beat like the embodiment of will or whatever usually just uses like missles, guns, planes, boxing gloves etc lol and when there was that yellow room and that dude wore all yellow and he literally couldnt do anything was hilarious.
Gods Iove every lantern. Is there anything better than these 7 having to follow orders from a squirrel to stop a cat from destroying a planet, and then a golden retriever shows up and saves the day?
sorry , but Jessica is not angst at all. Jessica suffers from agoraphobia , a consequence of her PTSD , resulted in loosing all of her friends at that night while she watches. She actually have a realitic mental issue , documented to several crime witnesses , with her actually going into therapy. The one that is angst is definitly Batman...instead of going to therapy and improving Gotham as Bruce Wayne , he looses all of his teenage years training , just to dress in black and beating criminals , while shouting "I am vengeance , I am the night"

Alright, comment time: 1. Haven't read Justice League Odyssey, but Jessica Cruz taking on Darkseid sounds badass. 2. John Stewart's definitely one of my favorites. Justice League for the win! 3. Guardians of the Universe! Idiots or villains? You decide!
JLO is really good...for the first 10 issues, now it's kinda eh. Really slow. Also they killed my girl Starfire in a super dumb way. >: < still ticked.
Except Guy did during his Warrior run by Beau Smith. When Beau gave him the Warrior powers he used it as an opportunity to heal Guy's brain damage. Thus making him a much more stable and likable character. He mended many fences with the DC Heroes during this time frame [even considered Supermann one of his best friends at one point.] He was a great character until that hack Geoff Johns undid everything to bring back the 80s.
