Not a problem. I was just by coincidence that I realized I already had the clip on an external hard drive from back in May, at around 1;30 am this morning. I didn't really get to check youtube much the last few weeks, due to all the changes they're imposing, and finally caved in and got the Google+ account… so I didn't even realize the message came in until after midnight. And, believe it or not, I'm pretty sure I uploaded a clip of this back in 2007 on an old, long-since banned account, back in the 240i compression days of youtube. I thought about uploading it again over the last couple years, but I figured someone had to have beaten me to it already. It wasn't until I got your message and started looking around online early this morning that I realized no one else had it out there and a lot of people were trying to find a copy. Anyway, I'm glad you could get some use out of the video. I just wish I had recorded it in SP, instead of SLP/EP speed. If I ever find the VHS tape again, I might just recapture it and upload it as a google doc or something.

That's Quite the story, a real interesting read! I'm using it for reference material in re-creating the game, you should drop by and check out some of the work that's been done already. If you do get a higher quality version posted let me know !

spooieVAULT Oh yeah .. forgot to ask does the video look any better without RU-vid compression ? just wondering because a friend of mine brought the topic up. He suggested I ask if you'd be willing to upload the raw video somewhere for preservation sake.

Project AXSX (A Sonic X-treme Re-creation) Honestly, it all depends on the condition of the tape and the TV Tuner I'm using. I realized only after I posted that clip that it is NOT from May of this year, as I thought it was, but May 2010. Back then, I was relegated to using the EyeTV 250+ tuner... these days I use the Hauppauge HD PVR with EyeTV 3.X software. Personally, I think it looks better on the PVR, as it tends to smooth out a lot of the graininess I get with old tapes... but it also, by default, makes the video a little more grey and slightly blurrier. Chances are though, unless you're as anal as I am about VHS conversions, you might not even notice anything... but if you want an example of what I'm talking about, you can see a comparison test video I did here... Copperfield EyeTV Test Anyway... I found the tape when I got home and I'm already in the process of converting it over. The Hauppauge HD PVR doesn't react well to VHS "static" and tracking lines... it scrambles the source video and will ruin the entire file it is occurs. The tape is a little jumpy, so I've had to redo it twice... but I think it's coming along fine now. I'll let you know when it's done.

spooieVAULT Looks like you finished it up and posted it over on sonic retro ehh? Very nice ! Actually The grey color was really a drag! The new one you posted looks so much better. , I Have a Super VHS JVC VCR over here myself but its in storage right now though. I used to use it to do audio dubbing experaments for some of my anime collection lol ( 2 soundtracks on one takp kind of like DVDs feature multi audio)

Behind the scenes development was an absolute shitshow. TL;DR:, the game was too much for the saturn to handle at one point with different engines being farmed out to different devs, Japan wanted the entire game to be built around that boss engine, all the rewrites ended up costing too much time and effort that just wasn't available.

The game had to either release holiday 1996 or die. Would of been too late fir the Saturn to catch up in America with no Sonic game by then. When X-treme died, so did the Sega Saturn
