Why the fuck isn’t there a feature like this? With a multi-billion company like Google how come there isn’t a way to access certain viewer information like what you described? Get your shit together RU-vid.
@@Fi___ edit: I don't know what was up with me when i first wrote this but overall I'm doing much better. Back to the original comment. But I'm too much of a depressed teenager who spends all his time watching random youtube videos while getting more and more depressed and having less and less feeling. What else should I do besides.... well...... exist
When I was little, I didn’t really understand that Nintendo’s Wiimote was one of the biggest outliers in all of video game controllers, so whenever I saw a PS 4 controller or whatever, I would immediately think, “Oh, it’s one of the weird ones”
Fun fact The duke is massive because the person who made it didn’t realise that you could connect two circuit board with a wire so they just used one big one “Fun”
I desperately want to try the boomerang PlayStation controller. I can only imagine it being amazing or literally scoliosis in controller form. I need to know...
I’m not at all surprised that this is Scott’s most viewed video. This is in my opinion, one of the best videos to show someone who hasn’t seen any of Scott The Woz.
Yup, it's funny) And it's looks like a old fashion phone) But to be fair it's really good controller and that buttons are usable for games of that era. It's no reason s to hate it.
Scott (talking about PS4 controller): "It's the one controller I constantly have problems with." Left JoyCon: "Prepare for trouble." Right JoyCon: "Make it double."
I love constantly seeing this in my feed. Like, I could probably recite the script from memory, but I still can't fall asleep without the sweet sound of bitching about number pads
This is why I love Scott The Woz. Some really in-depth looks at something already covered before, or something that people don't know a lot about. You bring humor and interesting views onto a subject that has been done often before.
He seemed to be focused on console controllers. If he looked at all different controllers of every arcade machine, the video would be too long. He mentioned how arcade controls are all different anyway.
I wasn't talking about arcades but controllers for home computers (C64, Spectrum, Amstrad, Amiga, ST...), we grew up with those machines instead of consoles, the NES in Europe was as rare as the NEO GEO. And while I agree that not much evolution happened in home computer controllers (after all, they were all cross-compatible), still a little trip on the memory lane wouldn't have hurt.
@@sekani9761 I just saw that you don't even have to get batteries - you can use the raw Micro-USB cable as a power source and you can safely play. Batteries won't charge, the original Charge Kit has it's own port for the cable to charge it after and when using the controller. So that's actually pretty nice though.
To be fair, Nintendo sets rules. - NES 2 buttons, start/select, d-pad - Master System, Turbo GrafX 16 - Basically just that^^ - Genesis - THREE BUTTONS, no select - SNES - 4 buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, d-pad, start/select - Playstation - Same as above but with TWO MORE shoulder buttons - N64 - Analog stick - Playstation - Now with TWO analog sticks! I don't know what to do with that 2nd stick. - Gamecube - Right analog stick is for cameras - Literally everyone - RIGHT ANALOG STICK IS FOR CAMERAS
scott: “the sharpness was criticized even back in the day, so nintendo responded with some alternatives.” me: oh, so they just rounded the edges? scott: “THE NES ADVANTAGE”
For me the Wii U pad has one flaw: glossy plastic. Other than that, it's the best controller ever. The short battery life is an easy fix with having it be connected to the charger when you play and the screen is good for mini maps as well as when you just wanna play lying in your bed and don't want to put a TV at the foot-end (played a LOT of AC: Black Flag during school lockdown at home like this while listening to classes and chirping in from time to time, such good times). Also, feels so great to hold unless you are a weakling. Anyone else agree?
Having to connect it to a charger the whole time you play isn’t a good solution and doesn’t alleviate the terrible battery life. Also what’s the point of playing on the gamepad if you need to have the WiiU plugged in, turned on and within 10 feet? It’s really not a good controller. Having a minimap on the touch screen isn’t worth the $150 it added to the WiiU price or the fact that it made the console harder to develop for and made the graphics weaker because it had to waste so much power on the gamepad
17:07 : The button was used for mounting (and then could be locked) to console test stands like at Gamestop where they have the Switch on display. This was before they came up with separate controllers for these stands, and as far as I know, it *worked*.
Apparently it was also supposed to be used to attach the Wii remote to the back of the controller, otherwise the Wii remote would hang everywhere. Don’t quote me on that though
@@thomastyrrell49 "appearangly it was also supposed to be used to attacg the wii remote to the back of the controller , otherwise the Wii remote would habg everywhere."
@@bartowo You're an idiot. Look at where the cable comes from. It was meant to hold the controller (and there are kits to allow this) and not have the cable get in the way of it. Don't be such a dick.
The mystery button that you mentioned on the Classic Controller was actually used for a nyko accessory. It was a grip kit and you were able to attach the wii remote to the back of the controller.
Yeah I think Nintendo had the intention to attach the wii remote to the back to serve two functions: 1. To keep the classic controller more usable since both hands were on it and the Wii remote just hung there which was not the best if you weren't sitting down. 2. It enabled you to use the IR camera to control the Wii without having to pick up the Wii remote and put down the classic controller to make selections or control the curser.
I agree that the joycons are small, but what I love about them is they are split when removed from the switch and you can keep them like that, so it doesn't force me to keep my hands together while playing, which sounds like a miniscule thing but when I'm lying in bed playing a chill game like animal crossing or mario its just real nice to rest my hands wherever is comfortable and still have full control over the game, this isn't a thing with any other console I'm aware of
This is Scott’s most viewed video with like 7.8 million views his second most viewed is the new super Mario bro’s video with like 4.6 million views Why does RU-vid love this video so much
People really relate to their console controllers. It's also a fun way to show the history and evolution of the controller. Who knows, we could still been using joysticks if Nintendo was like "yeah you know that joystick thing everyone uses? lets use one too".
Playstation: If it ain't broke, don’t fix it Xbox: Change is good Nintendo: *Hits blunt* want if the controller had three prongs. What if it a *cough* bar of soap What if it has a screen. Sega: I'll do anything Atari: I thought this was a phone
nintendo would stop laughing for 5 yrs you sir havent in 3...in my perspective reading this comment...go to scotts therapist and talk about amibo festival and wonder why this sounds like a threat HELp
@EPICPRO 23 No they did not. Especially not Zelda as you barely had to move at all. With dancing games it's obvious you shouldn't stand close to it. That would be so even without the Wii involved.
For people wondering the weird trigger on the classic controller is there for an adapter that lets you click the wiimote to the back of the controller. Used in splatoon years later for sure not sure what other games utilized it though
Guys... you keep forgetting to tell people about the Tony Hawks' Skateboard Controller and the Guitar Hero Plastic Guitar. They are going to think you guys play your games naked... and not properly... with the DK Bongos, Tony Hawk Skateboard Controller, Guitar Hero Plastic Guitar, the Power Glove and the Virtual Boy. ''It's just the one controller I consistently have problems with, and I'm not alone with that.'' Meanwhile, my Nintendo Switch is re-enacting Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift
Hava N. Day also I don’t get the hate for them basically just changing the name fore the select and start button since they (options and touchpad) basically do the same thing
One person's experience doesn't mean everyone else had the same. I've heard things about PS4's controller being poor quality and uncomfortable. Same with the Joy-Cons and their drift, some have had the issue, others haven't
@@goldensun2787 But that's exactly the problem. Sony switched to shapes so you wouldn't get confused. Anyone who has played a Playstation console instinctively knows where X, circle, square and triangle are and that has never and probably will never change. It's when you get into Xbox and Nintendo that it becomes confusing simply because they are the SAME ABXY buttons just in a different layout so when a Xbox fan hears "press A" they instinctively press the bottom button instead of the right button and vice versa with a Nintendo fan using an Xbox. If Microsoft wanted to be different they SHOULD have went all the way and called them something different, just like Sony. Also, they just copied the Dreamcast layout anyway so it's not like they were even being original.
Hey Scott, me here. I just discovered what might be one of the ONLY uses for the Wii Classic Controller’s “mystery button” you mentioned at 17:07 This company called CTA digital (who graced us with such wonderful items such as the Wii Bowling ball and Wii Sniper Rifle) made a wireless keyboard used for PS3 and Wii. It had an extra attachment that went on to the back of the Wii Classic Controller here’s a video of the product: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PwEROATHz9E.html
It's supposed to be read, "where is the Virtual Boy love, Scott?" He's asking Scott where the Virtual Boy love is. Punctuation makes all the difference.
Minor historical note that you might know and have simplified out for video length: Sony had a Dual Analog pad before they released the Dual Shock. The Dual Shock was just their dual analog pad with shock. Also, the sticks went from innies to outies, which was too bad.
PLEASE NINTENDO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, RELEASE A REDESIGN ALREADY THAT FIXES THE DRIFT. I hope the switch lite doesn't have the issue, but from what I can tell it's still got the same stick.
@@MrMoon-hy6pn At least on a regular switch you can always replace the joycons. If the same thing will be happening on switch lite then I pity the people who will buy it.
The 360 is my most used controller by far since I used it for both Xbox and PC but, man, the Switch Pro controller is basically the 360 controller but with better joysticks, d-pad, buttons, and ergonomics. I can't use any other controller now. It's basically sex.
I personally prefer the Xbox one S controller. It looks better, the sticks feel nicer, the triggers feel better, and the grip studs on the back feel like heaven
The 360 controller, aside from the d-pad, is probably the quintessential controller for me. It’s like the gold standard of controllers, it’s what your controller should aspire to be. The PS3 was pretty good, though I’ve always had issues with the Duelshock thumb sticks. Not only does the rubber peel off after awhile, but whose idea was it to have convex thumb sticks? Talk about slipping and sliding. Same goes for the triggers. Why convex? The triggers on the Duelshock 4 are perfect. They cradle your fingers like mother cradling her child. I like them better than the Xbox one triggers, at least.
My problem with it is the dpad is garbage. The xbox one controller is almost perfect, the dpad feels good but it isn't very durable, mine started double pressing within a year. I thought the switch pro controller would be perfect because Nintendo has amazing dpads but it's mushy and unresponsive
there's another thing that bugged me about the wii remote. the batteries would fall out so easily! whenever i played ether Babysitting Mama, or Just Dance 2013, the batteries would fall out! (and our wii broke and we though the disks were not working anymore and trying to 'Attempt' to clean my babysitting mama game, we broke it :/ and the baby doll was torn apart by my dog. I was very mad that day :I)
12:24 Yeah; apparently, the main reason the Duke was so big was that Mitsumi Electric, who supplied the circuit boards for the controller, didn't want to make a folded circuit board that was too similar to the ones used in the DualShock 2 controllers.
Finally! I thought I was the only one that felt uncomfortable with the Wii U Pro Controller. Yeah, Scott already said it for me: the buttons location felt really uncomfortable and triggers felt awkward to press. The overall feel of the controller felt inviting tho.
Just little jokes he threw in there like when he's holding the Duke controller and then just says "God I need a shower" had me dying, I'm so glad I found this channel
