As a moroccan I can speak for what I know for sure, that we had the largest jewish community in the muslim world around 350. 000 jews who were treated no different than any moroccan at the time. they had their businesses, homes, synagogs, cemeteries, etc. To this day, none have been destroyed, and the empty homes have not been taken over by the government either. We lived peacefully and loved each other regardless of our religion. each was free to practice their own beliefs. today and after the founding of Israel, only 2500 or so jews remain in morocco. They identify themselves as moroccan jews and are proud moroccans. As a muslim, I grew up with them, my best friend as a child was jewish, We had a jewish neighbour, and we played and grew up together with absolutely nothing but love and respect for one another.

These jews have my full respect and sympathy.

The neighborhood in which they live, Mea Shearim, was established in Palestine long before the the existence of the state of Israel.. So they don't live in houses stolen from Palestinians.. Jews built those houses when Israel still was Palestine.. Get your facts straight..

I found this to be a very interesting documentary. I saw it as a documentary about people, their communal lives, and a reminder of the power and strength that some are able to draw out of their beliefs and convictions.

The sect is called Naturei Karta, the neighborhood is called Mea Shearim. I must say I don't really see the use of isolating oneself the way these people do. But I've got to give them credit for standing up for Palestina the way they do, even if they're not heard. These videos are from 2005-ish. My daughter was the same age these 2 oldest boys were back then, about 10-ish. Rachel and Yoel had 5 or 6 more children after this and now have 3 or 4 grandchildren (maybe more.) I can’t even imagine my daughter married, let alone a mother at only 24!

A very interesting documentary that I stubbled upon after a random video popped up on here about the Edah HaChareidis. To an Englishman, I find it amazing but also bizarre the way these people live but also against the State of Israel. I noted one of the comments in this video, 'they'd rather be under Arab rule than Zionist rule'. I don't know what to take from that. I always thought Israel was one people, but it seems just like every other country in the world, it has its divisions. I'd love to spend a week with the family in this documentary just to experience their life.

@emencz actually I am an expert in the period, the history, and the book of maccabees. I have also studied pagan practices. As far as Judaism is concerned I keep shabbat and study talmud. I however do not fall into groupthink. Paganism is very clear system and unfortunately has entered into Judaism in many ways.
