Awesome review and big shout out to the camera person. So great to see the performance from that perspective. Minor nit pick… if you got splashed on the front, then the front splash guard isn’t adequate. A bit wet is still wet :) Please keep up these in-depth reviews. A ton of work, and greatly appreciated.
Apollo ghost has the same mudguard and while riding in the rain to work through the city my whole pants were wet and in a layer of sand not to mention the scooter being terribly dirty, especially the suspension.
I want to thank you for taking the time to take this scooter threw the paces and on different terrain. You are the only review on RU-vid that shows this scooter being tested for this long and variable of a ride. Thanks again this is the single and only review that was good enough to help me decide on it.
I'd refrain from buying if you haven't done so already. I had the worst experience with apollo after getting a squealing rear motor. Still do not know wtf is going on with my scooter since I dropped it off at the repair center 5 weeks ago. Only a total of 33kms and the issue started at around 20kms.
Your review really help me decide to go with the dual motor version as I am going to ride lots of up hills. Excellent detailed review from acceleration test, hill climb and braking but most of all I love the drifting. I browse you videos and I don't see that you have Apollo Ghost review but I ordered it anyway together with the City 2022 also dual motor version. Anyway thanks for this in depth review really informative and helpful.
@@Volfas My Apollo Ghost can climb steep hill on single motor like a dream but I am only 72kg so I barely use dual motor. The City 2022 I ordered is also dual motor and yes I can't wait to compare them if which one rides better.
I am new at researching scooters. I want to buy a couple to carry in my motorhome for my wife and I to ride. I like this scooter, and I really like your reviews. You are obviously very knowledgeable and your presentation is excellent.
Any chance you guys will get hold of and rest the dual motor Apollo city. Be great to see how it does on that hill, and if braking is better with two motors to regen brake! 👍🏻
I just ordered the 2022 Ghost with hydraulic disc brakes … I ordered it Friday hope it shows up new in box! I’ve heard some nightmare stories about people getting old and used models and I’m freaked out!
The battery is very small for a 30 kg scooter. It has its niche, but as it is it's not for me. If they made the deck bigger and gave it twice as many watt-hours, that would be something interesting.
Thank you dude! I really appreciate your awesome comment! I film all of R&G tracking shots on a Onewheel XR 🙌 Here is my website: www.lukewhatley-bigg.com and RU-vid: m.ru-vid.com/show-UCwkuTft1-Rc-7IBM3zAkrvA
@@RIDEGLIDE u welcome.. im debating should i get the pro.. Im 202 lbs.. I have no hills to climb.. Probably a back pack and accessories.. Im thinking I should be good with the 500w.. But I' dont know..
Great review! I just got my City Pro 2022 last week. It is pretty awesome! I wish I had a hill to test this out on like you did. Looking forward to seeing if yours can make it up all the way!
whilst many will go on about power fact is it’s likely 500 watts and 15.5mph will be what Uk law ends up being for scooters and most people probably don’t hit many hills over 15% so the single motor Apollo city could prove perfect for the Uk market especially with that ip56 rating, full suspension and puncture proof tyre technology for our dire roads and weather!. Love the low maintenance aspects here as well. Only thing that’s annoying is lack of front indicators. Apollo have lights on all four corners of the phantom deck and the upcoming Version 3 phantom they are making those front ones orange. They should of done exactly the same thing on the city so that’s disappointing. Seems only the rental scooters (voi in my area) have that nailed with back indicators AND front mounted indicators on the handlebars. Hopefully something Apollo will add in later versions but fantastic scooter overall! 😀
Mate, there's so many hills etc that a 500W motor struggles to get up and I live in West London where you'd think it's pretty flat. Anything less than dual 500W or a rear 1000W motor, you're going to struggle as a man. I weigh around 86kg, not fat, but just built... Most men weigh this and we aren't getting up nothing with a slight uphill gradient. Also, that 15mph is a joke. I might as well ride my road bike as I can easily get it up to 40mph as per my video on my channel. Most cyclists sit around 17mph and everyday road cyclists sit around 23mph and the good ones stay around 27-30mph. These silly 15mph is just a way to stop us using cheap ways to travel and stay dependent on a car, motorbike, bus or train for long distance travel in a short period of time. It's never to do with safety, but money and contracts
@@TheLondonCyclist Exactly. I don't mind having to register my Wolf King GT Pro here in Norway so I can legally use it on the road. I mean, my e-bike is allowed with no mirrors or blinkers, but if I take my scooter with added mirrors, blinkers, way better horn etc, that's a nono! Stupid laws.
@@musmanov4642 buy a ninebot max in Germany and it’s restricted to 12.5mph so unless u know how to get around that and are happy to void warranty then you are limited. It’s like cars though, limit is 70 yet even a small car can do 90-100mph. Individual choice to ride faster I guess. I will agree with anyone however that 15.5mph is too slow especially for roads, needs to be 20mph minimum if not higher.
For some reason my VSETT 8 (ZERO 8 pro version) has also 500 wat motor but this type of hill would be no problem. Also prefer implementation on VSETT for regen brakes, you don't have a separate button for that. I like 10 inch tires on Apollo and water resistance.
Vsett 8 is 600w motor and 8+ is 1200w. Depends on rider and scooter weight for hills alot of the time. The nice thing about the individual regen trigger is you choose when to use it. When programmed into the throttle you can only adjust in P settings. Vsett 8 is a cool scooter though! 👍👍
Great review but why the 220 pound weight limit? Why not list the stats/specs before you begin? There are cheaper lighter scooters (this one comes in at 57 pounds) that accommodate more weight.. 220 is not that heavy in the scheme...
Hi Fergus, firstly thanks for watching and the feedback. The maximum weight limits are generally a guide. Some companies will increase/inflate specs for sales. Rider weight has a massive impact on battery range, acceleration, tyre life etc and Apollo dont want riders to be underwhelmed so are trying to be as realistic as possible. 👍
Thanks for the review! I just ordered the 2023 model. I’m kinda short (5’5” / 1.65m) and I’m curious how tall you are since it looks like it fits you very well.
Cool going down hills you can e break to regenerate power. Be cool to see a test where you try and mostly use the regenerate breaks. See if you really get much power back compared to regular breaks
Great review with lot of information which is needed. I'm looking forward for the dual motor review as I considering buying one from your website - Do you deliver to Denmark and is the estimated delivery still mid July? :)
Hi, Thanks!! We are looking forward to getting the dual motor versions as well. If you dont have a local dealer then we can definitely help you out, delivery is just a few weeks away!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Like a Suzuki Bandit mudguard but easy to fit a tiny mud flap, silicone and self tapping tiny screws. Not a deal breaker but I’d extend the mudguards with flaps.
Thanks for the review. I liked it very much. I ordered mine and I am waiting till June to get the duo engine. 🙂. On another topic, wouldn't that be good if there would be kinda ring somewhere welded to the frame were it would be possible to attach a chain or lock? If I would attach it on the foot rest somebody just need to loosen the two bolts on the outside to steal it. Well not that I want to leave it outside all the time but if it would be necessary once it would give me more peace of mind. Any other thoughts on this? Oh and the camera person was amazing !!
I don’t want self healing tires I want over aggressive tires, I want ai tires that karate chop nails and other pointy things out of the way. Maybe even integrate magnets somewhere to pickup metal things before it reaches the tire.
@@raulespinoza8668 wish there was more videos online of it being road around on diff terrain so we could see how it handles. I’m afraid to buy something with such little reviews on it
I wish the battery was removable. I live in a flat where I can't take the scooter with me up to charge and I can't charge outside. So if I could take out the battery and carry that up to charge, that would be perfect.
500 watt is not enough for any scooter that coast over 1,000 should at least have 1,000 watt says come in duel motor if 500 watt wont go fully up hill it's only smart to get thousand watt or will be waste money regardless how quality looks
I’m in a huge debate between city 2022 and phantom. I understand they are different classes but I am curious to know your opinion between them both. I am look for overall distance. Ride quality. Clearance. Etc. I will say that I like the way the City 2022 looks just because it looks simple but for 500 more I can get the phantom and it sounds like u get more bang for your buck..
Depends on what you're using it for. The city is great because of the no-flat tires and not as heavy. This is good if you are a commuter because sometimes you might have to carry it up stairs at a rail station. This will be hard with the phantom.
Also, i love electric brakes on scooters, i will use this more than the the drum brakes. When commuting in the city (New York) you don't need to be going 100 mph.
My only coencern is build quality. I am looking for an e scooter and I read many reviews of Apollo e scooter but most of them saying build quality is bad.
Excellent presentation. I hesitate in this one and the Apollo city pro. I weigh 85 kg. which one do you recommend for professional trips around (30 km round trip) Can I increase its speed to the maximum, from the display? Thanks a lot. Sabel From Marseilles (France) Thx 👍👍👍
Great review, I am sold 👍 I have a credit waiting to go with Apollo's Aussie distributor so hoping to be one of the first Aussies to show it off. Love the design, it's like sex on wheels and cannot wait to flaunt it. Anyway great review, decision is made
do you think it would fit into Tesla Model 3 trunk either sideways or even with the seats down? the height seems kind of insane being 25 inches while folded
Looking for something to use as a commuter if the laws change. But will it handle all the hills in Bath? Thought about the pro but if that then won’t be “Legal”
The real problem with the likely laws is that nothing 500w will be able to handle steep hills with a heavyish rider, a speed restriction would be much more sensible than a motor power restriction for this reason in our opinion! It did eventually make it up the very steep hill near us with a 70kg rider but not with an 85kg rider! 👍
@@RIDEGLIDE well good thing I'm under 70kg then 😅 I'm hesitant to get anything until they make the laws would be a shame to buy something that you can't then use. Or underpowered based on an assumption that later is wrong.
Hi, you can find all the details here: www.rideandglide.co.uk/product/apollo-city-electric-scooter-2022/ Hope that helps but just ask if you have any more questions! 👍👍
I just ordered one today. What are the handlebars like? On my Apollo air pro they’ve twice had the bolt get stripped and had to send me new handlebars. Are they one piece? Also does the display show the odometer on it instead of just on the app?
Not a fan of the look of it. Deck looks boxy and bulky, the part that connects to the stem would’ve looked better if it wasn’t curved, the red break light in the back kills it the most because it’s squared and if they had made a matte black version, it’d look way better. Looks reliable though.
I would like to pre order but Im 6ft tall and I feel like the deck is not long enough to bring me comfort. This will be my first e scooter and Im not acustomed to having my foot bent. Is this how most people ride? Any way to post what is the length of the floor board/deck? Thanks in advance and great review!
man this looks very good, I am still unsure if I want phantom or this Edit: I pulled a trigger on city pro, rly hoping its gonna be powerful enough to beat some of the steep hills in my neighborhood x. x
Do not buy their scooters especially if you're not in Canada, their support system is worst than third world and they now how bad it is they don't have a phone line to speak directly with a representative . I purchased an apolo air 1 year ago and it came out of the box inoperable and it's sitting at a scooter shop in Miami waiting for Apollo to send the correct part after sending the wrong part 3 x too much hype my scooter did make it out of the box!
Thanks, we need these negative feedbacks because most e-scooter reviews are paid or "bought". I respect what Apollo's trying to do in the e-scooter world but they're very tricky and if you dig a little bit you realize their don't seem to stand behind their products. They suppress negative reviews on their website and their RU-vid videos.
Sorry if you've had a bad experience, we have always found Apollo to be a really friendly company to work with. However we hold parts here in the UK where the warranties and repairs are serviced by ourselves so no worries 👍👍
I think Vsett8 ot Vsett 9 is beter. That is mine apinion. Folding sistem on Vsett 8 or Vsett 9 is more raged and beter 100%. and its not plasticy that Apolo looks. Only two things whic are beter are 10 inch tires and 50km spead if you luck Vsett 8 cos it goes 42km/h and Apolo goes 50 but Vsett9 goes 55km/h. Also Vsett has E-BS whit drum brakes i stoop instantly on Vsett8 , but with disc brakes its is more stronger and that not locks the rim. Price wile are around Vsetti 1,000€ and Vsett 9 cost 1,200€ but LG baterys and lights, turning lights exe ,nfc card litle things for biger picture . Att first I didn't like my Vsett8 I think that is litle too and that brakes arnt that good i didnt know abaut E-BS its game changer. And after 100km I start to liking more and more cos of susp. also spead in city is around 20 to 35kmh cos I'm in bike lains I'm too fast if im riding full out and i yust enjoj . And 8 goes max42 km/h , but best thing is whit one charging it goes 50/60km that is whole day off riding . And after 50% of batery it goes 35kmh . I definitely recommend. But I didn't seen Apolo neve but old ones are plastic and I don't like that mine is all aluminium whic is more raged.
