It will inevitably become cheaper with time and at some point everyone will have one just like it happened with computers before.

It's more than plausible that the government or business could overtake these for a short time and we would be walking around thinking that people were having squirt gun fights and laughing at each other. But in reality it would be much different.

Yep! The current society is falling faster than these technologies are advancing. Most people take the world for granted, especially if they are part of the western world. So they don't really know about all of the logistics required to maintain all of the modern conveniences that they take for granted. With mental illness on the rise as society continues to decline, more and people people burning out from over work, and more and more people choosing not to work in the first place -- eventually and sooner rather than later, we will reach a point where the people needed to maintain our infrastructure will greatly exceed the amount of people available who know how to, are capable of and are willing to actually maintain it. The less that is able to be maintained and the more systems that start to go down, you end up with a catastrophic systems failure where the failure of one thing, starts the failure of the next, which starts the failure of the next, and so on. It is more likely that we'll be organic gardening in 15 years as society collapses and rebuilds, than it is that most of us would be walking around with odd things on or in our heads.

@@sneedtube I guess whether you want to call it screwed or saved, is a matter of perspective.

Its a smaller simulation cell within the the bigger simulation cell that we already experience as "reality" you arent free , far from it.

If you are not real this matter? We question reality without understanding what it is. Can we be sure we are not inside a simulation? 50/50. If our understanding of science, biology, history, etc is always changing, and increasing, our understanding of reality and consciousness just brings us more questions. We can list what we don't know, we cannot be sure about what we know...
