One word...THANKS! This is a review for "consumers", almost all other youtubers reviewed this "thing" like they are reviewing it for fellow reviewers, or reviewing it so as to get noticed for jumping on the "future of mobile" train, i got the "new thing"
@@dtz1000 I like thrillseekers review but i think adam savage tested's review is the best one hands down. Waiting on bradley to release his 1 month review
It’s not available in my region yet, but I’ll be getting one and focus on reviewing the 3D spatial footage capture and how it looks on OTHER devices like tablets and laptops with 3D displays
Ok just to clear up one error (from someone who is also using one of these overseas) - your US Apple ID does not need to be associated with a US phone number.
Really can't see the point of the head set. Can't imagine wearing a head set for what I can do on a laptop or sit back and watch the tv. Seeing the world through your own eyes is much better. Headsets should be for VR gaming only in your home. Pointless product as far as I can see.
Well I thought the exact same thing until I tried it! It’s a really great experience! I bought one last night after visiting a Apple Store and tested one out!
@@lewisciscato208im not gonna fry until i try it cuz im a psychedelic/ playboi carti type of person i would personally be all over the immersive things you get with it just the price is really wonkyyy
There’s no reason for using Vision Pro if there’s no “space”. There’re only big screens which you can have without Vision Pro with much more comfort. There should be 3d experience, not 2d screen floating around 3d pass through.
Brilliant video! I had the 30 min demo today and was amazed by the experience, and was then debating whether I could justify spending the huge amount of money on buying one. Watching your video has been really informative in relation to long term use of it. Thanks :)
Same use them every evening for dev... I also have a Quest Pro (bought £500 two weeks ago). XReal type of devices are much better for productivity. The software for XReal is however not good. Closed sourced, not OpenXR compatible (PC VR)...
@@389293912True but you still have a cable... I haven't taken to the gym for example to watch something while cycling or other cardio stuff. I'll still look like a dork with sunglasses in there...
It’s like 3D TV but worse as people are not in their living rooms where they felt silly and self conscious wearing the glasses. It’ll never take off on mass.
I can understand the hype around the Vision Pro. Apple users have been starved of VR tech forever so now they finally have a choice. I'ts just one choice compared to the vast PC VR/AR/XR ecosphere, but I guess better than nothing.
it's very cool for 3D movies. Would love to own something like this, but the Apple HMD is a bit too expensive. I hope that other manufacturers will soon be able to access similar OLED panels and will also cooperate with Disney and Co.
The key reason why Disney working with Apple, but not with other headsets is the closed environment, what make the piracy is significantly harder.. 99 out of 100 will pay properly for the content, but on Android or on another cheaper and more open product at best the 50 out of 100 will pay for it, so no reason for them to open the possibility for free piracy on quality content..
@@TamasKiss-yk4sttheyre just assholes. i have been trying to buy 3d movies and they literally won't take my money. I think its partially a technical limitation because when i rip a quality 3d blu ray its like 30 gigs or so. Most internet connections cant support that kind of bandwidth.
US customs don’t check outgoing packages. UK customs checks incoming packages. Just a small point to defend those poor guys you accused of slicing your headset
Unlike the AVP the Quest 3 is not a complete stand-alone computer, it's a totally different product category! You'd have to carry around a laptop in addition to the Quest 3 in order to compare it to the AVP.
I wonder how many (RU-vid reviewers) got the AVP knowing they were just going to return it after they trash it on the TUBE. What a shame. This is a very cool new product.
I almost dropped my demo unit at the Apple Store when the light seal partially came off when I was putting it on the first time. Not a great confidence booster. I also experienced the tunnel vision FOV with the light seal they matched me with, I'd experiment with a shallower one before deciding to buy. Besides the price the main roadblock for me is that I don't see this improving my productivity in any way. It'd be a new way of doing things but not necessarily better. The fact that the OS is much closer to the iPad than the Mac tells me it's not going to boost my workflow at this point. After years of experimenting I've firmly relegated my iPad to content consumption and light email. I'd like to see both the iPhone screen mirrored within the AVP and to use the iPhone keyboard for text input throughout the OS.
Great review! Side note… I knew that area looked familiar! I’ll be in Bath next weekend and was considering picking up the Vision Pro to review for remote work. Might still pick one up for the content 😂
Much like a lot of ppl that returned it before the allowed time, I would play with it, because I see it as a toy and the return it. I just don't see it taking over my work flow and replacing any of my monitors. To sit and experience watching movie or a series would be nice and I did that with other VR sets, but that set ended up in my closet after a few months. It's just not practical. For me, it's an expensive toy, and like any toy, we will eventually get bored of it.
I did get mine. But I got it because I want to develop an app for such a thing. I have a purpose when I purchase such things. They might introduce the Vision Pro 2 next year. But I think they will also release a lower-end model and simply name it the Apple Vision. The Apps are coming. With the M2 chip, I would not be surprised if triple A title games show up.
Wow, I’ve watched quite a few VisionPro reviews but I think this is the best one yet. You covered so much in such a short amount of time it’s left me exhausted! Most reviews have come to the same conclusion- incredible hardware but what is the compelling reason to put it on after the novelty wears off. If everyone who tries it has similar responses it could be hard for Apple to stick with it long enough for the hardware to become small and light enough, and the software to become really useful enough, for widespread uptake. Anyway, great review Tom.
it solves the problem of seeing any imaginable hologram anywhere ....if u have the software ....but yeah obviously it's not perfect yet and there will be a lot of competition soon
You are right. But as tech reviewer, he’s tried a lot of them so it’s different to hear that. It’s also something other tech reviewers have said about the AVP.
@@toututu2993 You can do that with the £499 Quest 3 using Fluid. This is just what I mean, people acting like the AVP is some crazy futuristic tech, which it is, but that's because it's a well executed VR/AR headset, and it's not the only one, just people who aren't clued up in the space don't know that, and this comment demonstrates this perfectly
Much as I like Apple products and find them very intuitive to use, I just can't really see that I would have a use for this that I cannot easily do on the devices I already have. I'll wait and see what future developments bring and perhaps think about it then
A wearable computer with high-fidelity passthrough gives you the freedom to use your hands and eyes unobstructed. You can't get that experience with an tablet or phone. There are obvious limitations now, but the potential is there
@@fosterslover problem is unless you have $4000 cash to blow (if you do great for ya) or developer to make money, it not worth buying it for the potential of future generations of device, yes it’s a glimpse of future but that’s it right now
I thought the same, but then quickly realized, we just spent in upwards of $5k, including accessories, why be cheap now and purchase something inadequate not only in protection but fit as well. Not to mention we did also get a random VR case online, the quality and craftsmanship are night and day… It’s a bit like buying a Ducati, then getting a cheap 50£ helmet… 🤔
@@superzero4250 not same, I been apple enthusiast almost 20yrs (macs, macbook air, macbook pro, ipad pro, iphone pro, air pods pro, homepods & apple tv but their prices are 🐂💩, especially on accessories (almost pure profit)
who said 3rd party bags would be inadequate? it’s just a bag lol im sure there will be 3rd parties that will make properly fitting bags/cases with some good protection just don’t look at the dirt cheap ones
To say the headset is 4,000 you would think it would’ve been made out of better material. How the goggles and the inside eye lense is made out of plastic?
@dtz1000 Until Apple released their version of 120Hz, you didn't thinked they can gain 2 hours extra battery usage with just how they used it differently like others (so regular fixed 120Hz).. this is the same for controller, you just didn't saw a better options yet.. by the way it supports controllers, you just doesn't need them, but you can connect any PS5 or Xbox controller, and they will works.
Great summary! I have most the same complaints I’ll wait for wwdc. If doesn’t change a lot I’ll sell it After a month I have some complaints 1 Comfort - not weight, the lack of support up. With a right band I wouldn’t mind wearing 2 country restrictions 3 lacking apps, Autodesk. 4 no mouse support? 5 mac desktop peripheral unfocused
I had to stop the video at 1:42 😂😂 as I was crying with laughter, when you mention your wife and review three years ahead. You’re a funny dude. Noél Michael Smith from London
I would love to try one but not buying one at that price. That’s a ridiculous amount of money for essentially VR. Not to mention there is other VR head sets not priced at that amount and have basically the same functionality. Thanks for sharing!
The same functionality is a bit harsh, the max 2K resolution 2D movie with only stereo audio is deffinitly the same quality like the 4K resolution 3D movie with spatial audio (about the same like the 7.1 sound). Just the initial displays are so far from any other (2200x2000 for Quest 3 is 4,4million pixrls per eyes, about 9 million pixels in total, but the Vision Pro has 23 million pixels, about 2,5x more). Same for the sounds, simple 2 way stereo vs 7.1 sound system.. you can't really say that they are about the same. And based on their current video capability the Vision Pro already miles ahead, don't forget you are comparing a 3rd gen with 1st gen, even the Vision Pro 3 will get at least that amount of apps like the Quest currently can offer.. but for better quality and more powerfull performance on Quest, it's nit enough just a few years of OS update, but the Vision Pro still can evolve just with OS updates a lot, plus with more and more apps.
Honestly, I had the one Terra Vision Pro. And I just returned it yesterday. Few things to point out… 1 you can’t use it in the Dark 2 the resolution is basically the same as the meta quest 3 3 you have to carry around the big brick battery needless to say, is very annoying 4 you don’t have many variety of apps 5 is not worth the price at all 6 is very heavy Bottom line you want to have a meta quest 3 does the same thing and same quality, only 500 box
The resolution is 2.5x times that of the Quest 3. The M2 has 3x the single core and 8x the multi core performance of the Snapdragon XR2. AVP has twice the RAM. It does relaxed hand tracking, not arms held out. It does precise eye tracking, not just foveated rendering. It does iris scanning biometrics not just a PIN code. And of course it plugs into the Apple ecosystem, so you have iCloud, Files, Messages, Mail, Photos (w spatial videos and panoramas), TV (with immersive video shows), Music, Notes, Calendar, Apple Pay, and Keychain (biometrically secured passwords & field completion) which sync between all your devices. To my knowledge Quest doesn’t do all those things out of the box. Dev holdouts notwithstanding you can essentially fall back on the iOS ecosystem which is literally 1 million apps. And then there’s Apple privacy vs. Facebook privacy. So yea. Other than 2-8x advantages in the processor, memory, and display, the input method, the operating system, the app ecosystem, the security, and the privacy exactly the same.
@@aaron4820 Naw...It seems many people can't afford the Vision Pro...that's why they like to see bad things about it, so they can feel better about not being able to get one. 4 grand is a lot of money to shove out...most people don't have that type of cash just laying around.
I think that the vr companies should create new vr headsets where all the camputing part should be in our forehead and only little glasses in front of our eyes I think this would be way more confortable compared to wearing a heavy headsets with the weight on the noise and eyes muscles
It just occurred to me to go back to your channel and look up your connection to Amazon. I now get it: That's why you downplay the VP (non Amazon product) and playup the Xreal sunglasses, the Amazon product. You get a commission from Amazon. Stealthy, well played! Now I'm questioning how / who indeed sliced the pillow case! Lol.
Ah you got me! Apart from XReal isn't owned by Amazon to my knowledge. It's also 1/7 the price and does some of what the Vision Pro can do. Also - have you seen how many favourable reviews of Apple tech I do!?
[14:45] The idea of lamenting the lack of sharing a personal device is a bit ironic. It’s like going to the cinema with a friend and then complaining that everyone is mad at you guys for having a chat during the movie. Or why motorbikes don’t have enough seats for a family of four… 🤔
@@Thetechchap Recognize what it is versus what it is not. it’s mainly an iPad with a new dynamic user interface with some advance features like Mac Virtual Display. You can game with it and use controllers via Bluetooth, but it’s NOT the main function. Just because Honda makes a sports car doesn’t mean you can race against the Formula 1 Mercedes team… Besides, it does have SHARE PLAY as a feature, and mirroring for those who do not have an VP. Realistically, there is an issue of copyright, but that is not APPLE’s fault. VISION PRO is barely a month NEW. Comparing it to a product that has been out for years that is on its third and fourth generation is not fair. The two products share a small area of a Venn Diagram, but they are completely different, like a consumer sport car versus a Formula 1 race car… I have noticed a fair amount of software coding engineers who have videos of their own incorporating VP in their workflows… 🤔
You can do duel screens now in AVP why does none of the content creators know this 😂 tells you how long ago they actually filmed their videos the shelf life of these reviews is gunna be astonishingly quick lol
This is CRAZY how Apple has been actually thinking about VR after all this times.. maybe they been spoiled by the first Google's lens and the Quest.. put it all up simply.. Copying other person's homework and make a little adjustment then claim it as your own.. good job Apple 👍
It's been around three decades since VR headsets came about and still, nobody wants to wear these things. Tech companies keep making massive improvements and yet people just don't want these on their heads for hours at a time. I realize that Apple and Meta want to pioneer some new frontier, but this just isn't it.
This thing is “so freaking cool” - no truer words. You can add mask to Face ID on the phone and voila. Solved. Also, slap the soft mask on and put VP to sleep - no reason to shut down the unit. If I can be so bold. So far, no one has spoken of the PRODUCTIVITY vs. the ENTERTAINMENT value. Keynote for me is one of those moments with VP. Truly works to bring my presentations on to a bigger stage.
Yes, there is no Beat Saber, no Walkabout Mini golf, no MS Flight Sim and no Google Earth VR on Vision Pro. Those are some killer VR apps missing that the Quest 3 can run.
@@dtz1000 Those are not "killer" VR "apps". Those are "OK" VR "games". A killer app is an app that single handedly justifies the adoption of a platform, like VisiCalc did for the Apple II. Applications are programs that let you accomplish things, which is quite a bit different than a game, which is an experience. Like I said, MQ has more VR content, but its library only has about 500 titles, per Meta. AVP's library is already more than two-thousand **TIMES** bigger than that.
@@dtz1000 Those are not applications, those are games. An application is a piece of software that enables you to accomplish something, a game is an experience. A "killer app" is an application that single handedly justifies the adoption of a platform, like VisiCalc for the Apple II; people bought the Apple II **just** to have a spreadsheet, and for no other reason. Also, those games aren't particularly good either, as 90% of MQ buyers never put their headset on again after the second week. Top that off, the total amount of software for the MQ is only 1/2000 as much as what's available for the AVP (per Meta and Apple's own published figures).
@@dtz1000 1) Those are games and not apps. Games are experiences.
