Excellent message! I’m in Canada and living in the hometown where I grew up. There were only 2 churches that were ever active in this town - the Catholic Church and the United Church of Canada. (I was raised in the Catholic Church.) I turned to Christ and began toddling after Him when I was in my 40’s (before I came back here.) The United Church that Alistair mentions - closed in 2018. I bought the church and manse. I found material that would have been passed out to the congregation. And I will attest that much of what I found coincides with what Alistair read. So…I have now seen 2 major varieties of apostasy and deception “up close”.

The coming apostasy is now here in 2023 in many evangelical churches.

Hebrews c6 v4-6 describes apostasy like this ‘For it is impossible for those who once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, if they should FALL AWAY to renew them again to repentance seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh and put Him to an open shame’. So, seems to me that those who fall away are those who have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as they have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit and then openly reject and deny Him. They fall away from the faith and cannot find repentance because they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit-a truly terrible place to be!

Praise God!! Oh my!!! I'm listening, and it just occurred to me that my Grandma(my only Godly influence growing up) Left that denomination in the mid 90s and became a Baptist!!!! Wow!!!!! Talk about Providence!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the apostasy has been in full swing for decades.

The Greek word for apostacy is used twice in NT writings. Interestingly they aren't usually translated "apostasy" in both locations. Let's look and compare. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 No one is to deceive you in any way! Almost everyone survive until they reproduce. Nothing is getting selected except for the character flaw in evil.
