@@Isaac_5.56x45 by Devil Dog Concepts... AR-15 side charging handle system for .223/5.56.... love the handle grip in rt. side vs. the straight pull back knuckle buster.
As always, another very informative and enjoyable video. Having Jess involved should get more female viewers interested in the shooting sports. Thanks and keep them coming.
Although I think AR pistols are great, I still find them to be silly, because SBR's, select fire weapons, suppressors, etc, should all be unrestricted items anyway. Repeal the NFA!
The AR platform is so great for new/female shooters. Light recoil, accurate, easy to teach the basics (although the AR control functions are a bit more complex than some). I've started many newbies with AR's and it's cool to see them get "bit by the bug...".
Great video brother! It never ceases to amaze me how scared people who are unfamiliar with a black rifle platform can be at just the thought of the thing. My experience however has been that once they get someone (who can leave their ego at home) to show them how the thing operates and functions, that generally speaking they become fans for life. Thanks for what you do!
Shot an AR15 for the first time (2 weeks ago). So much fun! I’m a 58 yo woman and have only shot handguns. Was concerned about the kick ...but it was fine! Definitely need to cover the ears 👍
I'm primarily a pistol person and a natural pistol shot, but putting a scope on my AR-15 changed my life! Every woman needs one. I'm a decade older than you and I need a barrel rest in order to get the shot I want, but those wonderful hard compressed foam shooting rests don't wait anything and they are so easy to carry to the range.
Your videos are always awesome. It is great that you include your son and Jess. My main love is pistols (revolvers and semi automatics) and shotguns, but I see an AR in my future.
Nice! I like the look and simple design of the handguards on that rifle. I've never seen them in person. I'm not exactly sure how I will set mine up. I'm looking forward to getting mine first thing tomorrow. I will show this video to my wife. Many, including her, have this preconceived notion that the AR 15 is this scary beast that will hurt your shoulder with recoil. She did well. Loved the outtakes also. 👍 *I have stocked some Defender 62g FMJ 3200fps. I was wondering if a different round would be better for zeroing and/or paper targets at close range.
I have a feeling your wife is going to love shooting your new AR, and she will be surprised by the lack of recoil. I almost always shoot 55 grain bullets through my AR rifles which shoot flatter than the heavier bullets. The 55 grain bullet is the most common weight for the AR and if you sight your rifle in with 62 grain bullets you may have to re-sight your rifle if you switch over to 55 grain bullets. Shooting at short distances probably won't make much of a difference but you will notice that the heavier bullet will drop more than the lighter bullet at longer distances.
@@mixup98 Thanks, as always I appreciate you taking the time to give me your thoughts and input. I will start getting the 55 grain. Since just recently getting more into shooting and really getting into it all through research, I've learned a lot and pretty amazed by the aftermarket for 10/22 and AR especially.
I was hoping to hear Jess say "Shut up and shoot" with a little sass in her delivery. It's good to see y'all having a good time, and that's a fine looking horse.
An important note for the ladies out there: Don't baby the charging handle. Yank it back as far as it will go, then let it fly. If you try to baby it, it might not load the rifle correctly.
I own several AR rifles but my favorite, and the one in this video, is a S&W M&P15. The price of a new AR will run between about $600 to over $3000. Spending approximately $700-900 will get you a nice, decent AR.
@@mixup98 Thank you so much for this video. What's the difference between M&P 15 and M&P 15 Sport ll, besides the price? Is there one that you would recommend at the lower end of the price for home defense? Being for home defense, just want to make sure it is very reliable. If it makes a difference, looking to get one for my wife who is of small stature and has small hands.
They are more compact which is helpful for storage and transportation. More importantly a shorter over a rifle is easier to handle in tight spaces like a hallway or safe room.
Honestly dude this does not look like her first time shooting lol. The way she was taking her finger off the trigger in between groups, I've never seen a first time shooter do something like that.
Jess had shot a .22 LR rifle several times but she had never shot an AR-15 before making this video. Before actually shooting this video I went over all the safety rules with Jess, especially about keeping her finger off the trigger until her sights were on target. Fortunately Jess is a fast learner.
Noticed that she fired from further back at the soft drink than the water container. .Good tactical move. Was watching this while sipping a cup of black rifle coffee.....And one can tell when a horse is pampered & has great screen presence.
Hello Ann and thanks for the great question. Yes, I always clean a new gun before shooting it, especially the chamber and the inside of the barrel (called the bore). I clean off the factory lubricant, which is usually more of a rust preventative than a lubricant, and I then use a good quality gun lubricant. I don't usually thoroughly clean my gun each time I shoot it but I will wipe it down every time with a lightly oiled cloth.
@@mixup98 , is a cloth with silicone as good as an oil cloth for the outside of the barrel and slide, etc. It's what I use after cleaning, but should I change to oil cloth?
Yes indeed, a silicone treated cloth is excellent and I also use them on my firearms. Actually, I prefer a silicone cleaning cloth over a slightly oiled cloth. Thanks for the reminder.
As always love your video's. I think you deserve 2 million subscribers my man.. Been watching all your video's and you never disappoint.. Your pal JB...
You can shoot .223 in a 5.56, but my understanding is that you shouldn’t shoot 5.56 is a .223 only firearm. There is a slight, but important difference.
Hello Matthew. I also own a S&W M&P-15 and I love it. I didn't use it in this video only because it is heavier than the one that Jess shot in this video. I own several AR's and the S&W is by far my favorite one. It is very well made, accurate and extremely reliable.
@@mixup98 okay thank you, that’s great to know! I really have been looking into AR’s but didn’t know which manufacturer to choose from. Thanks for the insight, love to watch your videos and can’t wait to see what you do next!
Not to be overly political and piss off conservatives, but let's be honest: You realize the Israeli opposition is primarily Palestinian refugees armed with stones, don't you? We're not even talking slings or shepherd's staffs....
Yes, you should. I am a natural pistol person and always prefer to shoot a pistol, but everyone needs a rifle with a good scope. When I put a telescopic scope on my ar-15, it changed my life. I do have to use a barrel rest because I'm a small person, a senior citizen, and I need that stability in order to get the shot I want. You don't have to spend $1,500 on an ar-15. You can get one for around $500 and it is going to work perfectly well. Look at Palmetto State Armory. They are wiping the floor with everyone right now.
I watch these videos because they’re produced by Mixup98. And, like some other viewers, am ready to buy a first AR15 for my wife, a senior citizen. With the market saturated, it’s a real challenge trying to decide on an affordable AR15 that is shootable and offers lasting good workmanship. Always find your content informative as well as enjoyable. Thank you!
Hi David, take a look at the Ruger AR556 standard or Ruger AR556 MPR - they're really good quality rifles in the $700 - $900 range. Lot of good reviews on these two.
Of all the weapons that you practice with in your valley, I really like the way the AR sounds echoing around in there. Always enjoy your videos. Take care Mr. Mix.
Did ya enter the raffle at Mr Pawn? Went in today and scored the Uzkon zk18. And entered the raffle. Prize is a cool Glock bag full of goodies. Have a good one Brother. 🇺🇸✌🏼
Dang it, I didn't know they had a raffle going on. Might have to get in there today or tomorrow. Congrats on your Uzkon and please let us all know how it shoots.
I've never been to Texas although I have a brother who lives there and I hope to visit him sometime in the near future. Thanks for watching our video Nancy.
I always enjoy watching Jess when you bring her into your videos. I certainly didn't have her confidence with my guns -- but then, I didn't have the excellent teacher she has. Jess, just seems to get on with it and looks like a seasoned shooter each time she is with you. I enjoyed this video because I always enjoy your AR-15 videos. Sorry I have been so late getting to this one, but I've been feeling a little "green around the gills" lately, so it's good to see you both having the time of your lives here. I also liked seeing Jess's horse, RedHawk at the end of the video. That was a lovely little touch -- such a beautiful animal. I have another friend down in Tennessee who has quite a few horses and from what she tells me, they are a lot of work. Well, it has finally started to get hot here in Saint Louis. Summer is my nemesis in this country because of the dreadful humidity. It reminds me of Durban on the east coast of South Africa. Terrible, terrible humidity in Durban. Ugh! It makes me wilt. Take care now - and, once again, thank you for all the hard work you put in so that we can enjoy your videos. I always learn such a lot from them. Kind regards. Liz.
Dang it Liz, sorry to hear that you are not feeling well and I hope you are much better in a day or two. It gets very hot here in Nevada but at least it is a dry heat and is somewhat bearable. You're right, horses are a lot of work and it's the main reason Jess isn't in more of our videos. Just between you and I....I turn 65 tomorrow and we are going to BBQ steaks tonight and my son and I plan on shooting a shotgun video tomorrow. Get well and Liz and as always...thanks for watching and commenting on our videos.
@@mixup98 I will write to you here tomorrow and wish you a happy 65th birthday. I will be 68 on the 6th July. Enjoy your BBQ this evening. We call that a "Braaivleis" in South Africa. I look forward to seeing your video with the shotgun. I would like to have one of those. (^_^) By the way, we had those HOT and very dry summers in Namibia. It rained in the summers in Namibia. It's just a huge desert, but in Windhoek we got those sudden summer deluges almost every day....usually in the afternoons -- they would come out of nowhere. It left everything all steamy for an hour or so afterwards. Do you get rain in Nevada in the Hot summers?
I just turned 38 in May, and I just bought my first AR last week. I've only shot one once, and it was a customized target model with a bipod, so I didn't stand to shoot it, and it would have been too heavy and awkward to do that anyways. But on Monday, my new Windham Weaponry MPC-RF gets into my FFL, and then I'll have a nice plinking/self-defense carbine that I can take anywhere. I am super stoked, and I can't wait! I've always wanted one of these.
Awesome...and congratulations on your first AR. Believe it or not I'm also super stoked for you and I hope you were able to find ammo for it. Be safe, have fun and thank you for the great comment.
@@mixup98 I've been looking at ammo online....whooo boy, I thought 7.62x39 was expensive, lol. That 5.56 NATO is outrageously expensive! But I knew what I was getting into, so no complaints lol. By the way, I think I've asked this before, but do you guys get any rattlesnakes out there in the desert? I've never been to Nevada myself, so I don't know. Thanks for the kind words! I look forward to more videos in the future!
