You can tel Nas and Jungle were different than the other projects kids mentally and intellectually. I don't think people understand how clear and concise Jungle is when he had a rep as one of the wildest dudes in Queensbridge projects during the 80's and 90's when NYC was like Chi-raq. This was dude they said was smacking dudes while they were strapped and relieving them of their guns.lol

I remember seeing and hearing Jungle in past interviews years ago, talking about shooting and gats and drugs and bitches with all that slang and shit. Now to see and hear him like this really shows the growth of a person. I used to be like that to growing up in my neighborhood, now I’m completely different, cheers to growth and maturity!!!

Jungle was lowkey the reason for Ether. When everybody was saying Nas career was over; Jungle was telling his brother for months to drop that atomic bomb. Nas of course, says he didn't want to spend time dissing another rapper, because he sees them as his brothers.

The reason Nas was reluctant to diss Jay Z after the takeover was because Nas mom was in the hospital sick and dying of cancer. So when Jungle was urging him to get at Jay initially Nas was like, he ain't worth it. These are facts not conjecture like your gay ass brother comment lmao. Nas was depressed over his mom so she took precedence over some trivial Jay Z diss.

That’s when Jay added the 3rd verse of Takeover and aimed it at Nas. Before this , Takeover ended with Ask Nas he don’t want it with Hov”. Little did Jay know Nas was about to douse him with that Ether.

As a 13 year old Scottish kid who got laughed at for listening to hip hop this album changed everything. For me and the people who mocked me for my musical tastes. Nobody could deny Illmatic was a classic and that hip hop was here to stay. Its storytelling at its best.

Press play and every song takes you deep and at the end of the record the last song is a masterpiece of writing he writes about waking up dead🤯. But ya Nas comes in second place for sure.....
