13:26 the singing on the radio was Vera Lynn (1917-2020) who was very popular among the troops during WW2. She entertained the troops in Burma and her songs became popular standards.

Yeah, they're basically trying to talk in a stereotypical London youth dialect. This came out in about 2005/6 so you're right about it making fun of teenage and young adult millennials. I loved the Armstrong and Miller show - very funny! Alexander Armstrong presents the quiz show 'Pointless' now so he's still on TV all the time. Love you Jay, keep up the great work ❤

That could be the youth dialect pretty much anywhere these days... You just don't expect to hear it from WWII pilots lol... Thanks for watching!

Hey Jay👍back in 1940s England the middle and upper classes would speak in a way we'd call posh/wellspoken,this skit is just mixing the expected upperclass English tone with modern street lingo/jibberish.A funny skit,cracks me up🤣cheers mate✌️
@JitteryJay

The street language is what got me, especially since you don't expect to hear it from people of that era (WWII)... Thanks for watching!

Nothing to do with African Americans, they're fighter pilots in world war 2 speaking in their normal accents but using modern street talk.

The street slang is more what I was thinking of. Thanks for watching!

@JitteryJay the pilots were often in their late teens during WW2, can you imagine today's youth being in the same situation 😂..well there you have it.

Still say its specific to UK...I live in Central London and hear this accent daily. The sketch is a few years old so the accent has evolved, typical of most types of languages.

The funniest thing about this reaction was watching an American struggling to work out what the hell is going on. It makes me chuckle every time. Just polish your firearms, Sir.

What would happen if today’s younger generation had to fight in WW2. The average soldier/pilot was 18-22 years of age.

Unfortunately, I don't think half of them would make it through basic training... The first time they got yelled at by a superior, they'd be looking for a safe space.

It's all modern day youth entitlement-speak
@JitteryJay

Not just modern day though as I remember hearing a few of those terms when I was growing up in the 80's in northern Ohio. Still funny as hell to watch though! Thanks for watching!

With the best will in the world, whoever thought an American would just "get" this clip is so far off the mark. They are speaking in the slang language of today's school kids but how on Earth you are supposed to know that is beyond me...
@JitteryJay
@JitteryJay 6 месяцев назад
The slang really evolves everywhere... We used our own form of it just like the youth of today... I raised 2 into their 20s now, I've heard a lot of these terms before... Thanks for Watching!

@@JitteryJay I can hear you got to it, Jay. Yeah, the mismatch is more generational than geographic.

Yes it helps if you are familiar with the way university educated people spoke (especially when on the BBC) back in 40s / 50s.... All frightfully posh... And like that blood! 😂😂😂
@JitteryJay

True, that probably would have helped... Thanks for watching!

You did have a squadron of black American flyers who had an amazing success rate not sure what they flew possibly tank busters mustangs ? Not sure P51 ?

Yeah, I think they were called the Tuskegee Airmen if I'm not mistaken.

It’s a take off of modern day youth speak by Second World War pilots. They had a strange way of speaking back then too.
@JitteryJay

What makes it funnier is that you don't expect that "street slang" from pilots back in the 40's. Thanks for watching!
@nimoysrazor

The accent is parodying the way some British youth speak, street talk, slang etc. Not African American, more like the urban UK Jamaican Patois.

To be fair though... that could be youth speak pretty much anywhere these days lol... Thanks for watching!

@@JitteryJay Yeah, with the internet, the youth all seem to use the same slang the world over now.
