A quick look at The Army Painter's new Mixing Bottles. I've wanted to get hold of some empty bottles for ages, so this was great that they are just realising their own and smaller versions of the normal ones I've seen around.

Any other uses for these bottles? Any experiences to share about them? What shall we name the new colour? :-D

I just clean out the bottles when empty. At some point I will transfer my Citadel paints over to them. I hate those GW pots.

@@darkstorminc That's a good idea, I was going to do that too, but I couldn't be bothered to try and clean them - maybe I should :'( I agree with the GW pots, there's a video coming to the channel soon and my hands are covered in black paint the whole way through from opening a black pot of citadel before recording :-/

They arent as difficult to clean out as you would think. A little dawn, hot water, and a minute of shaking usually does the trick. Even the sticker is easy to remove.

For doing paint mixes, I use a small syringe to measure the paints exactly and then I make a note on it so I can make more in the future and I'll know its exactly the same.

Newer bottles include mixing balls. Never realized the top dropper was removable.

Oh yes! Times have changed now, I remember them saying it was impossible to retrofit their machinery! :)

Dropper Bottle is Good way to have a Medium + Distilled Water mix as well. But I do have many of the larger Bottles I keep special Mixed colors I use for 40K Armys etc. ( you cant have your Blood Angel army the same Red as everyone elses). lol ... if Im mixing a special Color 50/50/or multi I just buy new bottles of paint and put all in larger container (easy to see color as you want it, specially if more color combination) then I use Funnel to put back in to the cleaned bottles, add new label (s). done this with Custom Inks for my BA army as well.

I have found in a cosmetic online shop 20,30,50,100 and 200ml bottles with almost the same end for 15-25¢ Wont really the cosmetic ones, just getting the 50ml for terrain PvA mixes with wood varnish experiments. Not a real need to get em yet, adventurers set will give plenty, considering ill proly use it all. ~6$ here

Curious will these hold enamels/alcohol based lacquers in tho. Cant see why not, guess im getting a pack.

I got 50 of those for the same price on aliexpress. I use them to transfer my citadel paint into dropper bottles. I also use it for distilled water, airbrush thinner and flow improver I transfer from the bigger bottles.

Bloody bargain! Yeah think they are priced more at convenience of having them where you might already be shopping. Or the packaging goes nicely for a gift/present for someone. Or it’s just sweet to get TAP branded bottles :D But yeah sounds like you need a lot so cheap is winner winner chicken dinner. How do you find transferring the citadel paints? Worth the effort?

@@WatchItPaintIt Yes, definitely worth it. I like working with citadel paint, but I don't like their paint pots. I can also get them cheaper than Army Painter or Vallejo paint (which I also have). The transfer was a bit of work, but well worth it. I used a mix of Vallejo Thinner and Flow Improver and some distilled water. The flow improver helps with the paint transfer. The thinner and water helps thinning the thick citadel paint. Now I just drop some paint on my wet palette and it is ready to go, with easy coverage.

Do you know anything about the newish products that are coming in March?

I know some stuff, there's a whole bunch of tools and accessories coming out. Have you seen? Is there something specific you'd like to know more about or see on the channel? I can see they are having new knives, cutters, cutting mat, drill, magnets etc. A lot I already have another brand, but some look like they'd be improvements - i.e. their knife looks pretty good, but the cutting board looks the same as mine but branded. Happy to help if you need to see something or know more

Try using syringes to measure the paint by volume.

Can you place the ball bearings into the army painter paints as is or do you need the mixing bottles?

Yep they go in the normal bottles in the exact same way.

Great video, thanks. Too bad they didn't go the way of other manufacturers (like WarColours or even asset drop) and sell the bottles with the agitating balls included. They might not be able to do it with their paints but there is no excuse not to do it with their new launch in March.

Well, I think it's like the convenience and knowledge/advertisement. Most things I can find elsewhere cheaper, but sometimes I don't know something exists if its not in a shop or website I use a lot, or sometimes it's just easier to pay slightly more but save on shipping or it's just less hassle at the time. Do you know what I mean? I get your point, but I think it's no harm having the option. I'm not about to go buy my food from our local corner shop on a daily basis but if I'm there anyway for the post office I might pick up a chocolate bar :-D
