This was really good, I'll think over my approaches with quite a few of these things in mind.

I'm not sure how this fits into the type of lectures delivered at the RI? PS. really enjoyed the lecture on Quantum Fields before this one.

In the middle of this and so far it's horribly disappointing. Four random people with no real insights into productivity just sharing their personal views... Nothing to learn or take away...bah!

The topic is inherently ambiguous, I think there was no other way a panel on it could really go, unless it's a debate. But, there were quite a few things one can take away and learn from in regards of the approach you can take in how to manage/assess a project, and given that the panel is comprised of professionals and not academics, practical experience is what it'd be based on.

You're right +Andrés and because the topic is so ambiguous don't you feel it shouldn't be delivered in this somewhat rambling way? Heck we are all here because we're interested in "Getting things done" so I'd say deliver the messages in an effective and efficient way instead of having us listen to a rambling talk and trying to dig up some useful bits....

That would certainly be ideal. But the panel of guests format doesn't really lend itself to that, specially when it's probably quite a feat to line up all the guests for a specific time and date. Maybe you are right and my standards aren't strict enough for this type of talks, but in my experience, this is above average for a short 1 hour talk; normally these things can only be really fleshed out in talks that last days (Eben Pagan is the only well known one that comes to mind).

Eben Pagan is pretty interesting - hadn't heard of him before. Thanks for the tip :-)

some audio editing would have been good there's lots of breathing and sniffing throughout, not nice to listen to. As it is, the content doesn't seem all that interesting anyway.

It's too fucking bad they had these tools on stage for this topic. I would have preferred Julius Caesar or Genghis Khan to present on "Getting Things Done."

In the great words of Samuel Jackson in Pulp fiction; "Say ummm... one more time, I dare you, I double dare you Mother f#$%er, Say umm... one more damn time" That blonde woman needs to know the pain she inflicts in listening to her. Its like being water boarded.

I thought someone would comment on that. It seems natural for a speaker to speak like that, but unaware how bad it affects her speech. But if she watches this video, or someone tells her, she would also cringe at it. That's why it's recommended we watch a video of our own talk, or have a few persons to give us feedback about how we talk. Otherwise, we may never know what we need to improve. (OK, I admit your comment is funny and mine is boring).

gus bisbal In that scene in pulp fiction Samuel is daring the kid to say "what" one more time, not umm. Then he quotes the Bible, then he shoots him in the head. Then a guy comes out of the bathroom and shoots at Samuel unloading his entire round, but missing every shot miraculously. Then Samuel has a spiritual awakening. Then Samuel argues with John about his awakening and the chances of him surviving in their car with a nice leather interior. John casually turns with a loaded gun in hand to the kid in the back seat to get his opinion on miracles, when the car hits a pot hole causing John to accidentally shoot the kid in the face. So they drive to Quinton's place.

No, it was just for fun. I've seen pulp fiction a bajillion times. Didn't mean to upset you. So then, Quinton is mad because he has a wife. And they call this guy called the wolf, and they clean the car. And then John asks Samy boy if he wants to get some breakfast. Then John goes and buys heroin, and heads over to Uma Thurmans place. She makes a square with her fingers, and they eat milk shakes and twist and shout. While John is in the bathroom, Uma thinks John's heroin is cocaine and does a gator line, and begins overdosing. Then john crashes into his H dealers lawn and stabs Uma in the heart with a shot of adrenaline, bringing her back to life. Then Uma tells the joke from her pilot, and they say their goodbyes.
