A magical piece of music, composed by an Austrian, conducted by an Austrian, and magnificently performed by Austria’s own Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra! Exquisitely beautiful, with an immaculate, unhurried tempo, a hallmark of Karl Böhm. This is simply the best version of this iconic waltz, what an orchestra, totally world class! I have never seen a camera being focussed for long periods on a conductor and this clearly demonstrates how engrossed he is in the music. Great to watch his facial expressions and mannerisms, and also occasionally giving a little dance in the process of conducting. Finished off with a lovely smile to his beloved orchestra. The adoration of Karl Böhm by the audience at the end is astonishing!
Innocent and Elegant ! Unschuldig und elegant ! Now you can measure the level of presence of the conductor that the orchestra leads. Along the way, he smiled for members of WPh at the goodness of much professional understand the nature of the slow and fast, and how this musik is going. There was Telepathic flavors between Dr.Böhm and the Vienna Philharmonic.😉
A delightfully stylish and beautifully crafted performance of this evergreen favourite (or should that be everblue?!) Picture and sound are both of excellent quality.
The two ovations were richly deserved. Rarely do we hear the waltz theme played with an almost March intensity. And the coda was finished without an abrupt termination that so detracts from the overall enjoyment.
berlinzerberus: I have been enjoying your channel for some time and I greatly appreciate your selections. Would you please also insert some infos about compositions you put on the tube. For ex. is this Donauwalzer from Böhm´s performance in Tokyo 1975? Thanks for your answer. (I also enjoy your comments, showing you know what you are talking about. Thanks for your postings!
Plz. don't hesitate to add your own info-dates in a comment. If I have an information about the video, I use to attach it but sometimes I don't have any! - Thank you! Added!
He’s similar to Richard Strauss, who also keeps a straight face and doesn’t move throughout and almost exclusively conducts with his baton. Truth is reflected in their music, R Strauss composing comic operas and Bohm being Mozart specialist. Even serious people like HvK can have their jolly moments like famed cosi fan tutte. Interesting huh
@@maxwenger7745 Nice one. Btw I hate with my whole powers that singer, I'm not even Mexican, I'm Brazilian, and I dealdy hate Mexican music. And about my comment, I didn't mean that the concert was boring, that I was bored by that, and actually that Bohm himself was always ultra bored lol
