Wow, I had no idea how important Lady Frieda Harris was to the creation of the Thoth tarot as we know it today. I am unexplainably grateful for her unrelenting dedication in making this project truly unique and meaningful. I thank you also for this well made and informative presentation.

Thank you bringing this lecture and exposé to the world about the art behind the tarot deck and the Frida and Alisters personality. Spirutual art is a tru mystery in its own right. I myself is a artist and up to design a tarot deck that I will call " The Garden tarot " Its a realy intresting topic how the creatic mind ate working with the components of the personality behind the artwork and the influenses that tou natural pick up to make some of a meltingpot with the intention of your spiritual nature I think. For Frida and Alister aswell for Athur and Pamela the were a team of designing it togather to process there knowleeds and creative experienses togather with there spirutual insight.

i owned a thoth deck in the early 90 s had now grasp, also had the book of the law, again had no grasp , now well i am an aspirant at the most not even a neophyte! shame, not to mention a once decent amount of occult books that i no longer have, well my original manly p hall 45 autographed edition is sweet, how about an original crowley signed book, that would be great, better yet his wand! now that's impossible! good night folks
If Aleister Crowley's 1942 Thoth Tarot was only a traditional Tarot, most of us might have never heard of it and it may not be available for purchase outside of the O.T.O. and A.A. I wish that Crowley would have rendered the switches of the Age of Aquarius in full and incorporate more than the seven traditional spheres. Tarot de Rider Waite of 1910 was advanced further, though. Art for arts sake is worthless and it should Some of the initial or variant versions look better. A graven image is a graven image. The idea of weak or no faces doesn't fix the issue. I favor language over imitation myself. Repainting the Thoth Tarot was my favorite version that I no longer have. Starting with the Thoth Tarot, I have made sure to include every card of every oracle deck in poetry and prose in a way that includes some of the uniqueness of each deck. A spiritual work is not to be stopped in the place of war, because it might survive. Wickedness is just not actions of mere victimization of others. Freida Harris may very well have been particularly fond of spicy fish dishes with that Jesus Chutney artist name. It is important to recognize personal connections when working with Tarot. Protective synthetic geometry and such need not to be mentioned with most decks, but they most definitely do when we bring up their work on the Thoth Tarot.
Jaefar SABNW hi. I recently ordered a Thoth Deck and it was quite a let down. I have been studying the book by Lon Kill DuQuette. I can't say anything but wonderful. He has a writer gift for taking some of the intimidating factors. I have been working with it for about 1 year and have not opened the deck I have. I know that I will paint my own because to really ingage in the cards are the foundation to learn their secrets. The deck I received are the size of playing cards and have no depth at all. However they are tools and will serve me well at this some what early stages. I appreciate your comments and hope to hear more from you. Blessed be.
Some of the prints are definitely disappointing in their quality. I have used it as a basis for writing and poetry myself, but it was part of the reason I got into Tarot. I'm not sure Lon Milo DuQuette takes out the controversial or confusing as much as explains it. My most recent project is set to be a video series on western demonology with tarot. Maybe you should look into Crowley's Konx Am Pax, because stories often reach us in ways discourse don't. I bonded with someone over that book and tell the tale.
I will definitely get his book. I learn about Crowley daily. It has taken me quite some time to relate to his mind set. However I feel better equipped now then ever before. I think taking some time and effort (I'm older now) has really payed out. I am currently studying the OTO in hopes of finding a place within the order. Realized this is a what I wish to do. Any words of wisdom?
These cards are deeply esoteric in symbolism.. Frieda Harris was under the whip of Crowley a very difficult task master and perfectionist in the creation of these paintings.. She would not have even understood the meaning of what she was painting as most people don't. There were many re-painted cards before Crowleys personal approval of each. They are profoundly accurate but don't overestimate Her contribution beyond her painting skills and interpreting to canvas what she basically did not really understand.
I know your comment is old but I just wanted to say that Lady Harris was already familiar with many esoteric symbols at the time she began working with Crowley, as is also shown by this presentation. Additionally, she paid Crowley to teach her magick and he was very active in relaying the details of the symbols as she drew them. To say that she didn't know what she was painting is simply preposterous, especially since she redrew a lot of the images to better fit Crowley's vision.
Just a suggestion. Your videos should be shorter, no more than 30 minutes. Just go directly to the point. Another thing is that recorded conferences are not the coolest thing on RU-vid at the moment. You should explore with something like "draw my life" style. To me your videos are excellent but to attract a bigger audience you should really consider my suggestions 🙃
