We used to be able to honor our opponents after the game. Obviously people eventually started abusing it by honoring whoever was feeding, but it was genuinely nice to have at the start of the games lifespan.
I remember playing against slark as pango offlane. And every time he used W and missed his jump I would all chat say 'skill' That slark lost his sanity more and more.
Playing nyx is best when someone talk shit to you and you one combo shot and kill them for the rest of the match. Typing in all chat Hehe nyx nyx nyx. As the buy all 10 sentry when you are the only invis hero on your team.
My favorite form of bad manners is when I correctly assumed all stuns and disables are on cd and tp to base right in front of the enemy team when we lose in a bad fight, press high 5 emote and tip the person who last used a disable that should have been saved to cancel my tp. I wonder what League would be like if Recall can't be cancelled from getting damaged and had a shorter channel time? Tping to base in Dota only takes 3 seconds iirc.
Great video, really enjoyed it. I used to trash talk but now I'm a lot more chill and don't usually do it or may i say i don't do it all anymore. Love yourself and spread kindness fellas
My go to in League of Legends is to gank either top or bottom depending on my rotation and as soon as I'm done with that I usually follow up with the gank mid submit usually gets Twice The Gangs no matter what.
To me the Behavior and Communication score is such a better system than being flat out banned. League the penalty is just being banned, so people just make a ton of new accounts to be toxic. Imagine if in League being toxic, abandoning, feeding, etc made you lose behavior/communication and made you lose the ability to emote, taunt, use your skins, etc. I feel it's such an effective punishment. Also, I'm surprised you didn't your Oracle's 30 voice line of "You will die in a house fire" as an example. XD
One time many years ago I was losing a league ranked match and after our team got wiped for the last time and our nexus was open to be destroyed someone in the enemy team decided to /ff to just have a laugh and 3 others out of the remaining 4 voted yes thinking the rest would vote no and the enemy team ff'd the won match seconds before winning and they started insulting and reporting each other and asking us to report one or the other. Edit.: I'm not sure if it was the hardest laugh I had in my entire league history but it's definitely up there in my top 3.
had a game where we were stomping the entire team of 5 cores and 2 of them were telling the last pick drow to off themselves and practically gave up; almost felt bad for drow as they tried in vain to defend while everyone stayed in jungle
Every global Dark Willow line. They are so good. I love "Oh don't mind me I'm just a wee fairy going about her business." So fun when I make a quick escape.
i think if dotas voice line idea came to league it'd be hilarious to see someone dive you under tower and die only to hit them with "faker what was that"
I don't wanna pay dota plus but the idea of spamming ''You might wish to retract your last move.'' after killing anyone with Puck is so fucking tempting.
Holy you beat me to it, I started writing this video :D Good work :) EDIT: Finished the video, looks like I'll make the video anyways, since you focused on trashtalk in pubs, and I was going to compare trashtalk in pro games (inspired by og vs falcons). Awesome video btw! Pango - "Was that intentional? It looked intentional."
One of my favorite forms of BM in Dota is dropping items in front of your opponent while they're stunned. I've seen players in PRO MATCHES drop items right in front of the enemy carry because they know their team can kill before they get unstunned. I'm also a big fan of the 360 spin (which is only really possible due to the turning speed in Dota). I remember watching a pro nyx hit a 360 in front of the enemy support before using their stun just to style on them lol. To me, anything where you intentionally handicap yourself or take a big risk just to BM is the ultimate disrespect, because it proves you actually think the opponents are worse than you and you can still win while memeing.
my personal favorite voice lines: (not counting AM and Slark ones because already told) - Earth Shaker : *it was your own damn fault* - Spirit Breaker : *stunning, isn't it* - Windranger : *could be worse. Oh, wait, no it couldn't..* - Visage : *you again?* - Wraith King : *TAKE A KNEE, PEASANT* - Zeus : *wait for it* - Pango : all of them XD - PL : *such simple minds* - Rubick : *I almost feel bad* - Razor : *you could run. You SHOULD run*
I have two rules for trash talk: I only talk back to people trash talking me and never initate toxicity myself. If someone makes me laugh while trash talking me, I just take the L and laugh in chat.
As an invoker player, his line where he says: "Did I hear a squeak" and : "You die as you lived, insignificant and ignorant" have defently caused my opponents to go feral. Thats why i love dota2 more then lol. The mental warfare is so fun. The only thing that can make me rage against my teammates is when they actively try to be A holes. In dota, one of the common problems many have is when your teammate refuses to speak English, thus ruining the communication.
Dota is king of trashtalk mainly because you dont get perma banned for flaming out for one match. All my friends who play League have their game perma muted cuz of the risk of full account loss.
Do you guys remember that one pro game in Dota where an Arc Warden mid outplayed someone with minimum hp left, started taunting, dropped a spray that says LOSER and then suicided to the tower? That was brilliant.
League and "communication". Don't make me laugh, they literally took an entire region's allchat, refuse to add voice chat despite their other competitive online game having it and most hilariously sad of all, the only thing that you can get punished for in league is chat. League barely punishes feeders and griefers but call them out and flame them and you'll get banned yourself. It happened to me, a brand ruined my botlane by stealing all the cs and feeding then I called him out and he went and did the same mid. I got mad called him a retard and got muted for two weeks. I checked his account. He did the same thing for weeks trolling and he didn't get banned. In dota on the other hand I can call someone whatever I want, over voice chat and over text and the worst that will happen is losing some communication score and getting muted for that game. However if you go and do something similar to what that brand did, you will hey punished, because dota in stark contrast cares about people actually ruining the game more than someone being called a bad name. Do you know why? Because when someone's annoying and offending you verbally you can just mute and ignore them. You can do that in league too but riot wants to pander to God knows who by exclusively combating "toxicity", despite league without a doubt having the most toxic player base out there. In addition league's system is so fucked you can get banned for simply typing too much. Want to coordinate with your team about that team fight around dragon pit for the soul and discuss who's gonna buy anti heal? Better do it in less than 10 messages for 30 seconds or you get treated as if you called someone a racial slur. All in all league's communication system is a joke and riot are clueless clowns. No one is as thin skinned as you think and even if they are they can always just mute you. I'm 30 I've been playing both games since release and I still flame and swear like a sailor. It's a part of being competitive. Some devs just understand this and are actual grown up, while other are offended Twitter warriors fresh out of high school trying to censor and police you for saying fuck.
It wasnt in DotA or League, but in SMITE that I saw one of the best trash talk in my life. In SMITE, Thor's ultimate shoots him up in the air, and lets him swoop down and crash onto basically any part of the map, stunning people he hits. We had a game with a really shit Thor on our team, and the enemy team goes, "Thor, next time you ult, go to Africa, they need to be fed more than us."
Another recen example of how trashtalk can be useful and is being used in sports is Argentina's goal keeper Damian "Dibu" Martinez who used mockery and such, which was not against the rules, at the world's cup final to get inside the opponent's head when it was his turn to kick a penalty
Ah yeah I remember a lot of videos about this! I watched it on my TV and thought it was just a superhuman moment, but little did I know it was his insane body language and mindgame tactics!
yeah, OG use the "Notain HandShake moment" from Ti8 on Team Banner photo on Ti9 like a Real Strategy vs Fly and EG on Ti9... That works pretty well. xD
i dont play dota but this is why ive always loved valve. say what you want about them but they understand gaming culture and respect player agency more than any other AAA studio i could think of. ofc riot is irrelevant in this point cuz they're an indie company
That’s if you’re buying from the steam market which is true for most! But if you wanted the OD taunt for example, that would have costed you about $200 USD, and now it’s just unavailable
If you think that muting your team mate is toxic....ones a pro Dota player (one of the best pos 4 and 5) literally say that, step 1 to get better at Dota is "muting your team mate" and yes I know that their explanation was different than what is say in this video, but still, point is, muting your team mates is not toxic.
I knew it, you're a filipino Tangina mo, great video! I'm enjoying your videos as someone who has played tryhard in League years ago, me and my brother enjoy your videos and make up really good discussions (especially that I'm new to DOTA)
On the steam market, yea! If you wanted to get them "organically" it would have been through the Battle Passes and you could only get them at insanely high levels. The OD taunt for example required like $200 USD
I like the subtleness of tipping and "?", very effective on tilting the enemy. You let the enemy simulate a perceived trash talk inside his head without even typing much.
It is not disrespectful, but the best voice line will always be the 13-second taunt of skywrath mage. Hands down, that's the most annoying. In reality, anything coming from an outplay mid-hero (those designed to outplay) can tilt. Puck's "you might wish to retract your last move", Pangolier's "was that intentional? It looked intentional" and WR's "could be worse, or wait no it couldn't" are all golden when hit at the correct time.
@@Silverhand404 Yeah, I can get what you’re up to, from the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!
Emote list for trash talking. Teemo thumbs up ( flexible) Rammus okay (flexible) Stylish penguin Jinx laugh Fizz maybe next time Akali shhhh Ksante flex Un-bench the chench Add your favs below
Not sure if this counts but I am the one receivng the trash talk, there was one time I was leisurely enjoying a game as my fave Razor in Dota2, we were winning the game and the enemy Wraith King just all chat saying "Report Razor". I'm sorry dude, it's not my fault I was doing good and getting kills, and you and your team are being trash XD
2x Mirana Persona Voice line's : Stupid... Brave, but Stupid... / I can pretend that never happen... Pugna lvl25 : You are wasting your life... (im lvl18 and cooking this one) Venomancer lvl30 : Im a perfect 10... on the Pain Scale...
My favorite method of trash talk is to be playful about it. My favorites are "owo" and "uwu." I once had an enemy Clinkz go boom and predictably target me all match after an uwu kill. He also flamed his own team so harshly that I think they might have quit trying to spite him. Dude had some problems tbh. Also the Bane cheese taunt is my favorite because it can be used while channeling Fiend's Grip.
In league I've always had the taunts bound to my extra mouse buttons for convenient spamming. Udyr's teabag is really good, also yi's dance. But the single goat disrespect that exists in any game is melee Peach going "ooooohhhh diid Iii wiiiin? UwU" on the victory screen.
I once won an abysmal game of LoL where we were like 10k gold down at one point purely by always typing. Just all chatting for like 40 straight minutes while also trying to play the game
When indonesians matched up with Philippinos in a dota rank match, all hell broke loose. Things that high school me said definitely would get me fired from my job now.
You forgot to mention Dota's nuclear option that crosses all lines, the F9 button. Not recommended for use ever, except for the moment right before you explode their ancients from a comeback against extremely toxic enemies.
now games barely have 10 chat messages unless all chat shit talk is happening. also forgot to add ltg to ppl who can say it. lmao im a fafo many teammates i tried to carry have opened there mouths only to lose the game same with enemies my macro and micro are good enough that i can soft int ez and never get caught.
